I’ve been thinking about Stan and Kyle in relation to their parents, and what interests me most is how they’re not exact copies of either of them, while still very obviously being shaped by them.
Because while I respect all interpretations, I don’t really vibe as much with overly simple readings where one gets reduced to “kyle is just like his mom” or “stan's just like his dad.” That always feels too neat to me (and just… incorrect). And while I think both are very much their own unique character, I also don’t think it makes sense to ignore parental influence either. People are their own person, but they’re still shaped by the people who raised them, and I think Stan and Kyle both show that really well. I certainly don't like being compared to my parents and think I'm different, but can't deny that some of my upbringing helped shape me into who I am today. (I don't actually care if you HC this differently; so here's my disclaimer that this is all my personal opinion)
Kyle gets compared to Sheila a lot, and I get why. The show even wants to show you why quite clearly between Sheila starting the Canadian war in the movie and Kyle finishing that decades later. He has her intensity, anger, protectiveness, and tendency to go into moral crusade mode when he thinks he’s right. But I also think the show clearly tries to show you how different he is from her-- he's often one of the kids getting into the mischief Sheila tries to advocate against. And I also think he has a lot in common with Gerald, more than people admit in fandom. Gerald’s quieter judgment, his moral certainty, his tendency to present very logically even when it isn’t logical all feel very Kyle to me too. So to me, Kyle doesn’t feel like “the Sheila one.” He feels like someone very clearly influenced by both of his parents in different ways, but also, he's different from both, and just...Kyle.
I think often in fandom Sheila and Gerald are both often reduced to their worst traits (like all the parents in South Park tbh. I'm not mad about this; I think it can be a healthy outlet for some, but I think it's true that fandom tends to reduce the parents to their worst traits.. Like they def have their bad moments on the show, the purpose of this post isn’t to justify those, it’s just that I do think there’s a trend to some taking those bad moments and focusing more on those) despite me genuinely thinking they are pretty solid parents. I said what I said, I think Sheila and Gerald are for the most part good parents, even though I know that sentiment isn't commonly shared. Sheila can absolutely be controlling and overbearing, and Gerald can absolutely be smug and (somewhat? Idk if I agree with this one as much) emotionally unavailable dad, but they also both feel loving and genuinely invested in their kids. They’re flawed, but not one-note, and I think Kyle reflects that too. I genuinely have a hard time envisioning Kyle's parenting style as very different than Gerald when it comes to one-on-one interactions with his kids tbh?? I know a lot cite Gerald’s less obtrusive parenting style as toxic, but honestly, I actually picture Kyle being something much closer to Gerald in one-on-one moments — patient-ish, probably a little too certain he knows best. Not the explosive Sheila mode people might expect. Like yes, he will have his explosive moments, but even Sheila rarely has those. When it comes to her children she doesn’t seem that explosive in front of them a lot like at all lol. Kyle doesnt feel things loudly like Sheila (though he absolutely got her tendency to be loud about what he cares about. Let’s just blame it on the jersey in them lmao). He also builds cases, he justifies. He positions himself as the reasonable party even when he's being anything but. I think he very much learned some of that from his dad lol. Kyle struggles enough with one on one empathy when it comes to things like stans depression (he’s just so fucking logical and internally rational that it’s hard for him to see things so differently on an emotional level he can’t understand lmao) that I really see him as pretty similar to Gerald in a parenting situation naturally. Not saying that’s a bad thing, I think in general it’s up to interpretation and neutral and can lean either way 🤷🏻♀️
Stan is similar, except I think people usually focus more on Randy and not enough on Sharon. Stan definitely has some obvious Randy traits like emotional impulsiveness, self-destructive tendencies (he's got that addictive trait), a tendency to get overwhelmed by his own feelings, sometimes getting that main character syndrome energy, and they both have always been… ‘creative’ when it comes to musical shit. I also think the show wants to show you this clearly, such as the parallel between Randy's 'cultural' beer tasting and Stan doing the same in the future timeline. But just as much, I think the show also clearly tries to demonstrate that Stan in other ways is quite different from his dad. Randy actively thrives on chaos and drama in a way Stan usually doesn’t. Stan clearly feels more exhausted by it than energized by it. When things spiral, Stan doesn't lean in; he shuts down, checks out, goes through the motions. That's not Randy energy… I'd say that's very much more Sharon energy. Stan has her exasperation, practicality, that same sense of wanting things to just calm down for fucking once even while still placing themselves in similar situations. He also feels like he shares some of her conflict avoidance and emotional burnout.
So with both of them, the interesting part to me isn’t about how they're so similar to their parents. Kyle has Sheila’s force and Gerald’s rationalized self-righteousness (and honestly kind of gets it from both his parents in some way). Stan has Randy’s emotional volatility and Sharon’s tired practicality. And they both got positive traits from both parents along with traits neither parents have cuz nobody is exactly like their parents. neither of them feels reducible to those traits alone; they both quite obviously have their own personalities and character traits beyond their parents. But still, think it’s interesting to see what they picked up along the way.
(Also, I realized for some reason this take makes Stan and Kyle seem a little negative, which wasn’t intentional lol. I think what was mentioned is just a small part that makes up who they are (they’re some of my fucking favorites), but also, what’s depicted in fandom is often the parents worst sides too)

(Spoken as someone who is in unfortunate possession of a lot of South Park knowledge from 2011) The whole South Park v. Trump thing is hilariously coherent, to me, both in it happening and in MAGA acting like this is a betrayal they could not possibly have seen coming.
The most important thing to understand about South Park is its identity does not align with any one political group. Its identity is a rabid hatred of censorship.
South Park, at the end of the day, wants to line up a bunch of idiots representing all sides and say Absolutely Anything about them. The show itself strikes a "Caring is Cringe" Enlightened Centrism by making sure you see that everyone who cares on either side is an idiot.
But. And this is important too: They do it in a way that can honeypot just about anyone into thinking they're the ones being agreed with.
This is because the bullet spray of mockery hits all targets. And you can, without much stretch, assign a character who is probably in the right, right? The show creators thought so too, right? This character is the least idiot.
So many plots are structured around Kyle (one of the main boys, the progressive one) taking some stance of compassion and anger over a social issue, to then be absolutely dicked around by Cartman (who needs no introduction.)
And it's actually so very easy to have two people watch the same episode and have one person conclude "Obviously Kyle was in the right. And he's getting dicked around by Cartman who sucks." while the other person concludes "Hahaha stupid Kyle with his bleeding-heart liberal BS. Cartman is so funny and awesome."
If Kyle says "I support the environment" and then spends the whole episode getting tormented for it: it's because this is righteous narrative comeuppance for a bleeding-heart idiot stance, or this is actually representing the tortured reality of being the only smart compassionate person in a world of cruel idiots. It's both. It's neither. It's clown nose honking.
Everyone is an idiot. Every side is full of idiots. So when an idiot character says, "I support gay rights", the audience can say either "South Park said gay rights!" or "South Park made fun of the idiot who said 'Gay rights'." with equal conviction.
Now--with no real political convictions and beliefs--South Park does have plenty of episodes that assign a winner. They will shoot down whoever they find most annoying. And they will shoot down whoever is trying to tell them what they can and cannot say.
And, while this is where my knowledge is about ~14 years out of date, I'm going to make the safe assumption that "You can't say that, because Woke" has been a constant target of the last maybe half-decade.
Okay, now with that context:
It is entirely unsurprising of me to think South Park has (or had) an enormous swath of alt-right, conservative, MAGA fans who think South Park is their show. They can watch every politically non-committal episode and say "Cartman is so cool and awesome. Kyle is a whiny little bitch." And they can watch every committal "We hate Woke for telling us what we can't say" episode, and happily conclude South Park is on their side.
But back to the thesis: South Park hates censorship. South Park hates censorship so much more than they could possibly care about any one political party.
And, the fact that Trump is lashing out with threats, blackmail, and every political cudgel he has to make people stop talking--that's already going to get you on South Park's shitlist.
But it got so much worse: because a sister-show on South Park's network (The Colbert Show) is being canceled as an appeasement to Trump. By the network hosting both IPs.
And Canceling a show for saying something politically unsavory is the worst possible offense, according to South Park.
There is no worse sin.
I hope South Park spends the entire season biting Trump's dick off.

so hot that mackiah thought his skin was about to melt off of his body as he waited for his bus to arrive, about to leave a whole dreaded day of work behind him. he was so done. done of his boring ass job at a place he absolutely hated. done with waiting to get to do something he actually liked with the degree he had been working so hard for. done with pretending he was okay when he was overwhelmed with his routine.
but he would get a break from life soon, he could feel it.
“you don’t look too happy.”
mackiah’s thoughts were interrupted by a honey laced voice, coming from a girl that now stood right by his side.
you were the most gorgeous person he had seen in his entire life, with long eyelashes and eyes that seemed to hold the entire universe in them.
fucking angelic, if you were to ask him.
“i don’t really have anything to be happy about right now,” he shrugged after a couple seconds of admiration, a slight amused glint taking place in his eyes.
“fair enough,” you nodded. “now, tell me, what’s got you so frustrated on this fine monday?”
mackiah sighed. what did have him so frustrated? it wasn’t like anything special happened.
“i hate my job,” he blurted out, surprised at the fact that he had voiced that outloud to a person he had never met before.
“then quit,” you shrugged, making mackiah raise his eyebrows with surprise.
“it’s not that easy,” he spoke, looking at you with questioning eyes. “i’m not particularly rich.”
“i’m not either, not at all,” you commented, turning your face to look back at him. “but i do something i love, and i think that’s worth more than anything else.”
the boy let out a surprised chuckle, amused and surprised altogether at how earnest you sounded. “where have you been? i’ve been looking for a woman like you for all my life.”
you smiled at his words, seemingly a little flustered. “then talk to me before i have to leave, and one day we could be maybe more than two lost souls just passing by.”
the boy couldn’t tear his eyes away from you as his heart began to try and beat out of his chest. the setting sun was hitting you perfectly, as if it was trying to make you look even more unreal than you already did by making your glossy lips shimmer in a particularly enticing way.
maybe your lipgloss tasted as sweet as you looked; maybe like strawberries.
wait.
what was happening? he had met you no more than five minutes ago and he already felt like he could live in that moment forever, like he wanted to.
so he did just what you had asked —he suspected he would always do that regardless of the request . he talked, all the fifteen minutes it took for your bus to arrive.
“i have to go,” you said as you watched your vehicle park in front of you, a laugh dying down from a particularly funny comment he had made.
“wait, can i have your phone number or something?” the boy asked, hands balling up at his side to try and stop himself from reaching out for you.
“sure, here,” you nodded, trying to bite back a smile as you reached for a small paper to scribble your number into. “can i ask why?”
“i think i’m in love with you,” mackiah blurted, his eyes immediately widening at the weight of their own words.

“i know you are, but what am i?” you said before he could have the chance to take his words back, taking his hand to place the paper into it as you looked into his shocked eyes for a couple seconds before walking away into the bus that awaited.

“fucking finally!” kamden exclaimed as the car rolled into the driveway of the summer house he and his friends had rented for the next couple of days.
“i’m so glad we’re here, my ass feels flat,” mackiah chimed in from the front seat, waiting eagerly to get out of the car and stretch his body like he had been needing for the past four hours.
“your ass can’t be flat no matter how many hours you sit on it,” brian spoke out, dramatically holding the air as if to show him what he meant, only causing him to let out a groan before stepping out of the car.
the house was beautiful, spacious and perfect for a desperately needed vacation. well, it wasn’t like mackiah had much going on after he quit his job —only because the hot girl at the park and ride told him to— but a vacation was always needed nevertheless.
mackiah felt content for the first time in a while as he leaned on the balcony railing, his eyes on the ocean. the only sounds that could be heard were the waves and his friend´s screaming voices from inside the house.
that, until a voice called him from a distance.
“you look happier than last time i saw you,”
he recognized your voice immediately, all too familiar from the countless dreams you had invaded ever since that one fateful evening. was it really you? i’d be too much of a coincidence.
“it was certainly not the fake phone number,” he answered into the air, looking down in hopes to see you on the sand.
“what are you talking about?” mackiah watched as you furrowed your eyebrows, giving him a confused expression.
what was he talking about? whatever it was, it completely banished from his brain the second his eyes set on your perfect face as the image made its way to the special place he had for you in his brain, along with the citric smell of your perfume, the paper he still kept inside his phone case—
oh, right.
“the number you gave me that day,” he commented once the trance was over, his chest feeling the unfamiliar flutter as he watched you from above.
“it wasn’t fake, you never texted me,” you defended, your voice still as calm as it had always been.
“of course i did,” his eyebrows furrowed, were you really gaslighting him? “you know what, wait there.”
he said before walking away, almost ran down the stairs with his eyes glued to his screen as he scrolled through the old chats. he ignored the questioning looks from his friends, continuing his decided strut until he was standing in front of you outside of the house.
“here, i did text you,” he showed you a chat on his phone screen, one with a number that was definitely not yours.
“that’s not my number,” you shook your head. “mine ends with an eight, not a five.”
“oh my- are you serious?” he groaned, frustrated at himself for holding onto that number for so long in absolute bane. “i did all that complaining for nothing?”
you chuckled at his words, amused at his antics while he continued to act like he had just received the worst news of his life.
“yes,” you nodded, teasingly. “but whatever, i’m here now, and it’d be a waste if you don’t tell me why the heck you thought my perfectly drawn eight was a five.”
it didn't take long for you and mackiah to be sitting down on the sand, talking for a while until a head popped up from the door to his house.
“mackiah? you have to go grocery shopping with siyun,” kyrell said before noticing you, his surprised expression quickly turning into a friendly one. “oh, hello, i didn’t see you there.”
you greeted him back with a friendly smile, trying to hide your laugh as the younger boy tried to save himself from grocery shopping to no avail.
“the guys and i were planning to make a bonfire after sunset, you and your friends should come,” he mumbled as he stood in front of you, ready to go.
“i’ll talk to them,” you nodded. “now go before he physically drags you away,” you laughed, pointing at siyun, who boredly waited for him at the door.
“i’ll see you later then,” he smiled, giving you a once over for the last time before waving and jogging up to his friend.
and just as he had said, you found yourself sitting in front of a bonfire hours after the sun had hidden, clutching your side as you laughed at one of mackiah’s terrible jokes.
“that was awful, not even funny,” you said, trying to conceal your laughter, not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
“say that again when you’re not dying to laugh, please,” he poked at your side with a satisfied smile. there was a certain fondness in his eyes as he admired the way the light of the fire reflected into your eyes.
you were fucking ethereal.
“i was laughing at you, not with you,” you clarified, your smile dying down as you focused on his handsome face, watching as his eyes flicked down to your lips for a few seconds.
“sure, whatever makes you happy.” the boy muttered, moving closer as he watched your gaze mimic his. his tongue darted out to wet his lips instinctively as he leaned in, giving you the chance to part away or close the remaining distance between you.
what kind of madwoman would ever back away from mackiah fucking mercer?
a small sigh left his lips right before reaching yours, merging together in a tentative and tender kiss, as if you were testing the waters of what it meant.
just as he had thought the very first time he met you, your lipgloss tasted like strawberries and your lips fit together like puzzle pieces.
like they were made for each other.
the slow pace didn’t last very long, and it took even less for both of you to be out of breath while you laid on the sand, lips swollen as you watched the sun begin to rise in the distance. your head rested on mackiah’s shoulder as he caressed your hair.
“this didn’t do any favors to my initial thoughts of falling for you, by the way. i think i'm deeper down now,” he broke the silence, voice soft.
“i know you are, but what am i?”
open the door to my apartment, we get in

“wait, keys,” mackiah chuckled, parting away from your lips for only a couple seconds to try to fish his keys out of his pocket, fumbling with the lock before letting you into his apartment.
you didn’t waste time on latching your lips to his neck, leaving wet kisses down the span of it as you grabbed his jacket and attempted to get it off of him.
the boy couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle at your impatience, enjoying your affection for a couple more seconds before parting away and grabbing your chin with no force.
“don’t be impatient now, sweetheart, wait a second.” he muttered, voice raspy before he left a peck on your lips and let go of you to take his jacket off and throw it to the side. “come here,”
in a second, your lips were pressed together again. his hands roamed around your body until they settled on the small of your back and your jaw, simultaneously pulling you closer and tilting your face however fit him best.
the way he kissed you made your knees feel weak, like they would give up on you in any second; the only thing holding you up being your unwillingness to part away from mackiah.
he wasn’t feeling much different, so incredibly immersed in how it felt to have you so pliant in his hands, so close, so his.
standing up turned into sitting as you stumbled onto the couch, your legs placed in every side of his lap as you straddled him. “oh, hey,” you muttered, a breathless smile between kisses.
“hey, pretty,” he smiled back, and your world fell to absolute shambles at the etherealness of his smile, his kiss bitten lips, his messy hair and shimmery eyes.
“your heart is racing,” you commented with a teasing smile as your hand rested on his pounding chest.
he took his hand to your own, feeling for a second before answering with the same amused tone. “yours is too.”
how couldn’t it be? the boy sitting under you seemed like a fucking fallen angel brought to earth for the sin of being so fucking beautiful that nothing could ever compare.
“your fault,” you smiled before joining your lips yet again.
and mackiah had that smile stuck in his mind for the rest of the night. every single one of your reactions to his touch were like treasures, and he had never felt more greedy in his life. he wanted it all; your happiness, your sadness, your pleasure. everything you were willing to give him he would take as his hands explored your body like he was trying to find the city he had someday belonged to.
like he was trying to come home.
but one day, maybe i

“come on, it isn’t much further,” mackiah chuckled as he guided your blindfolded figure through an unknown path.
“you’ve said that like four times!” you exclaimed, holding tight onto your boyfriend’s hand with fear of falling.
“well, i’m telling the truth now,” he smiled, endeared at the cuteness you so naturally possessed. “we’re actually here, so stop complaining and don’t take the blindfold off until i tell you to.”
he let go of your hand for a couple seconds and you felt him move behind you, his arms encircling your waist and his chin taking place on your shoulder. “okay, you can take it off.”
nothing could’ve prepared you for the sight you were met with once your eyes got used to the light again. a beautiful meadow surrounded you, the colors of the sunset contrasting the flowers to form one of the most incredible views you had ever seen.
“kiah, it’s so beautiful,” you muttered, eyes unable to look away from the scenery.
“almost as much as you,” your boyfriend smiled before leaving a loud kiss on your cheek and letting go of you to walk in front of you again. “i have something to give you.”
you ripped your eyes away from the view to focus on him, smiling at the fact that there was no better view than him.
“i know we’re young, and it might be too early to decide anything,” he began speaking as he looked for something in his pocket, “but i know i’m spending the rest of my life with you, sweetheart, and i don’t want you to ever doubt that.”
your heart raced as you watched him pull out a small box.
what on earth was he doing?
“i won’t ask you to promise your life to me just yet,” he continued before any questions could come out of your stunned mouth. “but i wanted to make it clear that i do intend to someday, and this is just practice for when that happens.”
he opened the box to show a pair of beautiful rings.
“the promise rings we saw at that store near the beach where we met for the second time,” you breathed out. “you drove all the way there?”
“yeah, just for you,” he smiled, taking them out of their holder and holding his hand out for you. “may i?”
you looked up at his face just then, uncontrollably fond of his nervous expression.
“of course you may,” you agreed and watched him visibly beam of happiness as he slipped the ring on your finger, pulling at that same hand to make you stumble into his grasp before twirling you around a couple of times.
“i’m so fucking in love with you,” mackiah muttered as he sat you down, looking at you with mesmerized eyes.
“i know you are, but what am i?”

Kamden would have done his research on how to ask someone out both from asking his friends, looking up tips on the internet, watching romance movies, reading books, and even asking your friends if you had mentioned any scenarios of how you wanted to be asked.
The result was him choosing to slowly warm up to it. It began with the two of you studying in the library, he was helping you with a subject you struggled a little with, as the sun set and it was getting late, Kamden asked if you wanted to eat dinner together. You said yes, wanting to get closer to the boy who made your heart beat a little quicker. Kamden paid for your food, wanting to be a gentleman. The two of you ate and spoke, laughing and enjoying the moment. Once dinner was done and it was time to head home, Kamden walked you to your door, you hugged him saying goodbye, but then he suddenly stopped you.

He Brian
Brian would not be as well prepared as Kamden. Nope, Brian would kind of just do it without realizing it. The guy barely knew he had feelings for you before Mackiah and Jiho pointed it out to him. “Hey, lover boy stop staring at your lover and go ask them out already!” His two friends said as they laughed at the shocked face Brian gave them. “What do you mean? (Y/n) isn’t my lover?” “Obviously, because you haven’t asked them out, but you should cause they like you too,” Jiho said.
Brian thought about that conversation for the next couple of days, but he didn’t know how he should do it, well until today. Brian was about to walk home after his classes had ended, as he walked by the basketball court he saw you standing there alone with a basketball in your hand, staring angrily up at the net. Brian smiled because he found you so cute. He walked over.

Choi Jiho
Jiho first met you through his younger friend, Siyun. Siyun and you shared a class and during a lunch break, Siyun brought you with him to the table where his friends sat as your other friends were sick or busy that day. All the boys were super nice and you especially took a liking to Jiho, finding interest in his major. Jiho immediately fell in love with you, it was love at first sight for him. He would be a little nervous around you but you didn’t notice. Jiho was just a little bit jealous too, jealous of Siyun who got to see you all the time. Therefore, Jiho did everything he could to show you that he was better than his friend.
After you were invited to a movie night with the seven boys who made up your classmates friend group, Jiho got to find out something that helped him out.
“Come on, please can we watch a horror movie? Please guys,” Seungmo really wanted to watch a horror movie but some of the guys were against it, Jiho wanted to hear your opinion before he stated his own. “(Y/n), where do you stand on the horror movie? Do you like them or not?” “Um, both, I kind of like them but I also get scared so if I wanna watch one, I’ll always need someone beside me that I can hold onto,” You laughed a bit nervously, making Jiho smile as he found it cute. “You can always hold onto me if you want,” The way he said it and the way his eyes looked so warm as he gently gazed into your eyes made your heart skip a few beats and a blush crept up on your cheeks. “Then I want to watch a horror movie,” “Same, so that means the majority wants to watch the horror movie,”
Everyone sat down in their designated spots, you stood a bit awkwardly on the side wondering where you should sit. Jiho waved you over to the couch where he was sitting, Siyun on the other end. “Come on, you can’t hold on to me from over there,” At the beginning of the movie, Jiho was disappointed as you just sat in the middle of the couch with him on one side and Siyun on the other seemingly totally fine. As the movie was approaching its middle point, the first real jump scare happened and you were very frightened almost jumping onto Jiho as you hid your face in his chest. Jiho’s heartbeat was racing but he felt happy, he embraced his arms around your frame, hugging you tightly to him.
After the movie was over, Jiho reluctantly removed his arms from around you as it was time for people to head home. He walked you over to the door, hugging you to say goodbye. “Thank you for being my human shield tonight, it was really nice, you’re a great hugger, whoever gets to date you is lucky,” “Do you wanna be lucky?” “What do you mean?” “Want to go on a date?” “Seriously?” “Yeah, (Y/n), do you want to go on a date with me, Choi Jiho?” “Yes, I do,”
Yoon Siyun
Siyun and you would be friends, studying together or just belonging to the same friend group. The two of you both enjoy photography, so sometimes, the two of you tend to stray away from the group as you wish to take photos of the clouds or nature. Without realizing it, Siyun began snapping photos of you as he fell for your passion. He thought you looked really cute as you concentrated on getting the perfect photo of a flower as a gentle breeze was blowing. It would take him a few weeks to realize that he was doing this, it wasn’t until he needed to go through his pictures to find one for an assignment in school that he found the majority of his camera roll from the last month was just photos of you.
When he realized this, he knew that he had feelings for you, and he knew the perfect way to confess. He would print out all of his favorite photos he had taken of you and even some photos of the two of you together. He made a small collage of them, decorating it with flower stickers and other cute stickers. Next time he met up with you, he would ask if you wanted to see the photos he loved the most, and you, of course, said yes. He took out the collage and gave it to you. Mackiah would be totally whipped for you, he would try to act cool and impress you but the second you look away he is following you with puppy eyes. Whenever you asked for something he would get it in a heartbeat.
“Uh I could really use a snack right now, I’m so hungry but I still have two more classes before the day is over,” “Uhm, I just need to go to the bathroom, be back in a sec,” Mackiah would run over to the cafeteria and buying you a snack then run back with it, luckily the boy has a lot of energy and he’s a fast runner. “Here, I got you a snack,” He’d smile brightly as he handed you the snack, his eyes sparkling with joy at being able to get you a snack. “Thanks, Mackiah, you didn’t need to,” “But I wanted to,”
Other times it could be during an evening hangout, your friend group was at a park just hanging out and talking. Later on, a chilly breeze passed by, reminding you of your lack of a jacket. “I’m so stupid, I didn’t bring a jacket even though I knew we would be out for a long time,” “Hey, it’s okay, here, I brought a blanket, we can share it,” Mackiah quickly opened his bag and took out a blanket, he then walked over to you, wrapping it around your shoulders as he sat down very close to you. “Thanks, are you sure you don’t mind sharing it?” “Of course not, I’d love to share it. Anything for you,” “You’re so sweet, Mackiah, you’re like every person’s dream boyfriend,” “Even yours?” “I mean, yeah, you’re nice, sweet, caring, funny, not to mention handsome, loyal, oh-” Mackiah suddenly stopped your rambling by leaning in and kissing your cheek. “Can I be your boyfriend then?” “Yes, please,” He tried to stay cool but the second he turned his face away from you, he was turning as red as a tomato as he cheered internally.
Kim Seungmo
Seungmo would be really afraid of rejection so he wouldn’t dare ask you face to face. No, he would write a letter with the help of his friends. He rewrote the letter many times because he wanted it to be perfect.
Once he had his perfect letter, that basically just said:
“hey, (Y/n), I’m in love with you, wanna go out? Love Seungmo, but like no pressure if you don’t”
His friends wondered why he opted for such a simple letter instead of the three pages long once he had them help him write, but no one was surprised. They knew Seungmo, he’s young and terrified of confessing to his first love.
Seungmo ended up leaving the letter in your locker, waiting behind a corner to see your reaction to the letter. When you opened your locker and found the letter you locked around a little confused but figured that it was for you. You opened it and read the sentence, laughing a little and blushing. You looked around to try and spot the tall boy with now blonde-blue hair, and while he was hiding behind a corner, he wasn’t really hidden. You walked over to him, he was nervous and ready to bolt out of there.
“Hi, Seungmo,” “Hey, (Y/n),” “Yes,” “Yes?” “Yes, I wanna go out with you,” “Really?” “Yeah, and I like you too!” Seungmo nervously put his hand out toward you, looking shyly between it, your eyes, and your hand. You smiled at the shy boy before putting your hand in his, and so you walked out of the school together, hand in hand, shy smiles and red cheeks, nervous giggles could be heard every now and then.

[7:00] the snowfall was something out of a movie; thick layers covering the concrete sidewalk, protecting you both from the ice. your snow boots crunched over mackia’s larger footprints. you weren’t exactly sure why he wanted to take you outside in weather below freezing, but for him you’d do anything.
“kiah, we’ve been walking for 5 minutes; my nose is almost numb.” you crossed your eyes in an attempt to look at your tingling nose. every time you scrunched it up, it would take a second to go back in place. you weren’t sure anymore if you were still following a direct path, or if your boyfriend had somehow gotten you both lost late at night, in the middle of a snow storm.
“i promise we’re almost there.” his hand gripped tighter on yours. despite the layers of gloves, the heat from his palms seemed to still radiate onto you. no matter how cold it was, mackiah was always like a sun that kept you warm.
after what felt like an eternity walking through the falling snow, mackiah finally stopped, bringing you to a clearing between trees. “i never experienced a snow storm back home. australia’s way too warm.” the moonlight shone down between the clouds, and dimly lit up his face as he spoke.
“so you had to bring me with you?”
“well—” he cut himself off, licking his chapped lips, “i heard it’s really romantic to slow dance in the snow.” mackiah pulled his hand away and reached for his phone in his pocket. he slipped off his wool gloves and suddenly, unforgettable by nat king cole played from his speakers. “my parents told me about a trip they took to iceland, and they danced to this song together when they got snowed in.”
mackiah reached for both of your hands after slipping his phone back into his coat pocket (which only slightly muffled the volume) and putting back on his gloves. he pulled you close to his chest, and moved your hands to his shoulders, as he moved his to your waist.
you couldn’t help but smile. your boyfriend, ever the romantic, pulled you through a snowstorm just to dance with you. a gesture that kept your heart warm despite the freezing cold. “mackiah mercer, you really are an unforgettable love.”
