The thought that Astarion spent 200 years being manipulated and manipulating others to a degree that he has forgotten how to have normal relationships, thinks he has escaped only to realise he's infected and will eventually be enslaved to another all-powerful being, to then wake up and find himself travelling with a group of traumatised weirdos, and slowly realisimg that there are people in the world willing to give him a chance despite (or because) of everything he's gone through and done, AND (in my game at least) not just Tav but also Halsin are willing to put the effort into establishing a relationship and show him genuine love and affection... is what plays on a constant loop in my head.

Astarion deserves to be loved. Just when he thinks he's an unlovable pos Tav appears, looks at this stray cat that bites everyone and says "this one's mine" and then Halsin arrives like "hey Tav, I love you and I could love your boyfriend too". Must have been overwhelming.

I also like to think about a touch averse Astarion working through his trauma with both Tav and Halsin.
