Puertorrican oatmeal done!

Arrival!

It’s been almost 8 years that I had not spent more than 7 days with my parents. This time around, I was bringing my two kids, a two year old and a new born. While my husband was deployed, I wanted to enjoy the hot beautiful weather in Puerto Rico! The beautiful beaches and more than anything the FOOD!!! YUM....

Day 1!

Arriving to the airport I great my mom. None the less she tells me hey I’ll meet you at the gate. I am like perfect! I’ll see you as soon as I get out of the airplane. I get out of the airplane my toddler runs out like crazy, with hands full of luggage including a stroller, a newborn, my breastpump bag, laptop bag and a carseat, I was missing hands to catch my toddler. Yes, I understand why he wanted too run, because he was sitting down in a flight for 3 hours and he wanted to run and play. I call my mom, I ask her hey I don’t see you, where are you? She’s like I am at the gate. I tell her of my location. My mom says: Oh, I meant outside. I explained to her the difference between a gate and the arrivals was. We are talking to a person who flies frequently, this isn’t new to her at all.

I make it to the baggage claim with both kids and I go outside now I am looking for her. I call her again, Mom where are you? Oh I am parking my car. Okay, I am waiting for you outside. My mom makes it to the baggage claim area. We walk to the parking, but she forgot where she parked. So up and down the elevator looking for her car. Then she realized that she parked the farthest parking their was. I told my mom hey couldn’t you have found a farther one. Geez! We load the luggage, luckily I pulled $20 dollars from the ATM, just encase my mom didn’t have cash to pay the parking. While leaving the airport parking she couldn’t find the parking ticket. She had to go back, park the car and repay for parking again, because she took too long. While driving home, my mom asks me, hey when are you taking all your stuff with you. I am like MOM YOUR UNBELIEVABLE! I just got here and you are already asking me when I am leaving! None the less when I am taking everything with me! Wow! Really. So I guess that was my welcome home honey!

I get home, while I was unpacking, she asks me hey when are you taking care of your toys, you haven’t cleaned your toys in a while. I am like mom, I just got here, can you please be patient with me?

So after reading this how many of you have these type of issues with your parents? How many try to stay a week when visiting home and visit once a year and that’s it?

Summer with my Parents....

Visiting my parents recently, I have never really gotten along with my mom. But I have a few crazy stories under my sleeve. I call this 60 days of survival with my parents! Mainly with my mom. I’ll be posting daily issues with my mom. You will learn about how some people don’t really have a normal life or normal relationship with their parents. What is normal? I don’t really think my life or relationship with my parents is normal. I wonder how many people have a good relationship with their parents? What is a good relationship? What is a normal relationship? Healthy? I guess in a healthy relationship we have to have a little bit of drama, argument and craziness! So Stay Tune!
