Nice. If Mercury wasn’t so skeptical at this point he might have laughed at that. That was not a word he’d ever associate with himself. Sitting on the edge of his bed, Mercury laid back, arms folded behind his head as he watched her. Whatever was bothering her, he didn’t particularly like it. He’d suspected that she probably regretted it but her words were in complete contradiction. Scoffing a laugh at her words, Mercury tried not to think too much about the property damage they’d caused. “Cheaper too,” he drawled. What did she want from him? To figure out where they went from here? Because, truth be told, Mercury didn’t have a clue. There were a lot of variables that Mercury had to take into account. What if they were sent back? Whether he wanted to or not didn’t matter, he’d have no choice to go back to Salem. If he didn’t he’d be killed or, worse, Emerald or Cinder would pay for it. Or if Cinder herself showed up here.. Damn it, he couldn’t help but overthink everything himself. “Personally I was going to say ‘it was hot and much better than getting my skull cracked’ but, sure, we’ll go with nice. Ten out of ten: would fuck again. So.. what now?”
——— as she got dressed, yang had to remind herself to keep her back straight, her eyes turned upward, to FAKE it the best she could. she’d done it before, acted for the sake of getting by, but never quite like this. mercury seemed satisfied, and who was she to step in and mess it up with something like FEELINGS ? there was no part of her that knew where they would GO after this, in terms of their... whatever. it wasn’t a friendship, not by a long shot, and it wasn’t exactly a frienemies-with-benefits relationship either. they could tolerate each other, but only up to a point, then it always dissolved into VIOLENCE. “ i don’t think i’d be able to crack that thick skull of yours anyways. ” she scrunched up her nose at him and laughed at his comment, and took to getting on her underwear and shorts. “ well, ” she began, turning away, looking down, pulling up her underwear. “ i’m going to be a good girl and help you clean up downstairs. and then i’m gonna go home, i guess. ” ‘i guess’. it was almost SHAMEFUL, how thick the emotion was in those two words alone.
