Let’s all be honest here, if your a fan of Melina Marchetta’s books, you like pain.
The sweet, glorious pain that comes from well developed characters and crushing love stories of broken people finding each other and helping each other mend.
“In the end, it will not be the seas or mountains or canyons or clouds or galaxies that fill our hearts with wonder and our mouths with praise. It will be God himself.”

Seeking God — really seeking — is more than just reading a few verses from the Bible in the morning and trying to be a good person that day. Seeking requires me to sacrifice the things I feel compelled to chase so I can be available to notice God’s clear direction. Whatever we chase, like it or not, gains our full attention. Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (NIV)

With arms held high Lord I give my life Knowing I'm found in Christ In Your love forever

We’ve been talking a lot in church these last few weeks about the word blessed and how it isn’t just having good things happen to you. Being blessed isn’t having a nice house or being able to afford eating out several times a week or having things feel relatively easy. No. Blessed is a joy that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and only through a relationship with Jesus Christ. So when Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn…” He meant that even in the darkness, there is light. He meant that even if you’re in the thick of it, or even if it’s something that’s in the past but still feels fresh, you can find joy. You can find peace. He meant that no matter the hurt, the sorrow, the wound, joy comes in the morning. He meant that the mourning is temporary, but His love is eternal. Through brokenness comes blessing. It’s one thing to hear this or read it when you are in a place of comfort, though, and another to try and remind yourself of it when you’re hurting. Another to live it. Living it is hard, y’all. But we’ve got to try. Blessed are the poor in spirit Blessed are those who mourn Blessed are the meek Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness Blessed are the merciful Blessed are the pure in heart Blessed are the peacemakers Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account Blessed are you Blessed are you Blessed are you
Ask the Holy Spirit to begin to work in you from the inside out, to make you the man or woman God designed you to be. Ask God to help you know His will and give you the strength to do it. Spend some time thinking about the fact that God loves you. Contemplate that all Jesus did, He did for you, as an expression of that love. Reflect on the fact that God has a plan for your life that He wants to reveal to you. It will be the best life you could ever live. Tell Him you want to do what He wants you to do. Embrace grace. It is a gift for you.
William Wilberforce, Real Christianity (via grace-after-the-fall)
In every Christian’s heart there is a cross and a throne, and the Christian is on the throne till he puts himself on the cross. If he refuses the cross he remains on the throne. Perhaps this is at the bottom of the backsliding and worldliness among gospel believers today. We want to be saved but we insist that Christ do all the dying. No cross for us, no dethronement, no dying. We remain king within the little kingdom of Mansoul and wear our tinsel crown with all the pride of a Caesar, but we doom ourselves to shadows and weakness and spiritual sterility.

For days when the enemy is trying to slither his way in, remember to continue: - praying (Don’t ever stop talking to God, love. Tell Him everything. And if you’re feeling empty and like you have no words, know that it’s okay to sit in silence with Him and know that it’s okay to repeat Help me over and over and over.) - praising Him (Put on some Praise & Worship music and sing through the tears because God is still good in the storm.) - reading/studying His Word (Open your Bible, open your Bible, open your Bible. You want to hear God’s voice? Open your Bible. Open your heart. Read your Bible. Study your Bible. God is going to give you exactly what you need. You know this from experience.) - leaning on others (You cannot, cannot carry all of this on your own. Reach out. Talk to someone. Hug someone. Love someone.)
God fully understands you and your situation. The reason why people are not understanding you or giving you the answer you need is because God wants you to seek Him in the situation and seek Him for the answers to your questions. His learning you and training you to hear Him and lean on Him and not other people. Yes God can use people to answer your questions at times He does. But it’s more important to seek Him above all things first. Go to Him first not people.
