please has anyone seen reki

He has some time to kill before meeting up with Reki, but there’s not a lot to do around the school without him. A few students still linger in the halls after the final bell has rung, but Langa doesn’t know them, and he’s not exactly known for his conversation skills. He’s content to just wander and not talk to anyone until —

     “Ah...” Some things he can’t ignore. His eyes are shining with interest when he speaks next, all his shyness and reticence forgotten. “Is that a skateboard? Do you skate?!”

“What’s the problem with it?” The problem is, of course, that Langa has moved onto his third burger and that he’s showing no signs of stopping or even slowing his consumption. “I’m hungry, so of course I’m going to eat...” And he’s already dreaming about the poutine he’s going to order for dessert. 

      Langa is a generous man, though. He slides one of the still-wrapped burgers over to Miya like a peace offering. “Here. You can have one of mine.”

     as I start poking around and following people, new friends feel free to like this for a starter!

                                 𝐑𝐄𝐊𝐈   𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐒   𝐎𝐔𝐓   𝐈𝐍   𝐓𝐇𝐄   𝐒𝐔𝐍   next   to   Langa   as   he   begins   to   unpack   his   lunch.   It’s   nice   outside   today   :   &   he’s   grateful,   because   he’d   asked   his   mom   to   pack   him   EXTRA   food   today,   &   now   he   has   a   warm   spot   to   eat   it,   too.   As   he   settles   in,   Reki   begins   to   lecture   Langa   on   the   importance   of   low   air   resistance   in   skateboarding   —   but   it   quickly   becomes   clear   that   he   isn’t   listening,   when   he   interrupts   him   with   a   proposition.

                                ❝  𝑯𝒖𝒉   ?   ❞                                 Reki   makes   a   noise   of   surprise,   eyes   widening   in   question   as   he   glances   over   to   Langa.   His   focus   settles   onto   the   pathetic   -   looking   sandwich   that   the   other   brandishes   towards   him,   &   Reki’s   brows   furrow.   He   clutches   his   bento   to   his   chest   defensively.                                 ❝   𝒀𝒐𝒖   𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒕   𝒎𝒆   𝒕𝒐   𝒆𝒂𝒕   𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕   ?   ❞

“Yeah. That’s why I said trade.” Honestly, Reki can be so slow sometimes. He’s speaking plain Japanese and everything—how could he not get it? “I’m not letting you go hungry.” That’d just be unreasonable, after all. And Langa’s lunch is good, too! It has some sort of meat in it, lettuce, maybe tomatoes (he didn’t really read the label, to be honest)... What’s not to like? Again, Langa stares down at Reki’s enviable bento and it seems to spark his determination. He brandishes his sandwich like a flag. “See? It’s good.”

      ... Reki doesn’t seem convinced. Like, at all. This is bad. Langa really wants that lunch. It’s bad enough he has to smell it every single day, but he rarely even gets a taste. “The tamagoyaki look so good...” He murmurs dreamily, almost to himself. Does Reki know how lucky he is? ... “Here.” These are desperate times, after all. Langa presses the sandwich to Reki’s cheek, insistent and annoying. “Look. It’s delicious. Please? Trade?”

                                ❝   𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂   !   ❞                                   Reki’s   call   can   be   heard   from   across   the   street   where   he   meets   eyes   with   him,   wildly   waving   a   hand   over   his   head   in   greeting.   He   tosses   his   skateboard   down   off   of   the   sidewalk,   barely   looking   both   ways   as   he   zips   over   to   Langa,   a   huge   grin   stuck   on   his   face   as   he   does.   Reki   stops   in   front   of   him,   toeing   his   board   to   pick   it   up   again,   &   moves   to   step   up   onto   the   sidewalk,   but   instead   pays   a   little   too   much   attention   to   his   boyfriend’s   face   &   not   enough   to   where   he’s   stepping.   He   faceplants   unceremoniously   into   the   concrete.

                                   Catching   himself   with   one   hand,   Reki   pushes   himself   up,   blinking,   &   frowns   briefly   as   his   hair   flies   in   all   the   wrong   directions.                                ❝   𝑼𝒉𝒉𝒉   .   .   .   𝑰   𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒕   𝒕𝒐   𝒅𝒐   𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕   ?   ❞

“Ah, Re—” Langa’s about to greet him back when he does what must be the most impressive wipe-out Langa has ever seen. Which is impressive, because Reki wipes out a lot. Langa’s hands go out as if to catch him, but it all happens so fast, and Langa is left with his arms hanging in the air and a concerned look on his face.

     “Reki...” His tone is chiding, but it’s not long before an affectionately wry smile tugs at his lips as Reki finds his footing again. “You’ve spent so much time on your board that you forgot how to walk,”  he says, and then leans in closer, squinting as his eyes roam over Reki’s face. “At least you didn’t get injured,” he says, reaching up to rub the pad of his thumb on a scrape on Reki’s cheek that is (thankfully) not bleeding. Langa affects a pout and turns away, as if he’s been insulted. “Or I wouldn’t be able to look at you all day.”

@sukeskate​ always has the best lunches...

Reki is talking. Langa knows he’s talking and it’s probably something really important. More insight into skateboarding or some cool trick he found online or Reki’s (and therefore Langa’s) plans for the rest of the afternoon ... But Langa is distracted. He’s watching Reki’s backpack and the bundle he pulls out. When Reki opens it to reveal his lunch, Langa’s eyes light up. He jabs one finger at Reki’s bento, and one can practically see the sparks of excitement coming off of him.

     “I’ll trade you.” He’s been waiting for this. He’s been planning his attack for weeks. Langa brandishes the sandwich he bought from the school cafeteria like a weapon, or perhaps a sacrifice.
