Dazatsu Zombie Apocalypse AU

First gift for Datsu @lunaria_inn for Dazatsu Exchange 2026.

Their mission here is mainly about Atsushi's journey to reach a government lab and hand himself to be the main subject for the antidote. Also wit zombie Dazai help I guess.

And a sketch of their ending that I didn't have the heart to complete (since I just realized that Datsu was asking for a happy ending.. Sorry...)

The happy ending in my idea... Is just Atsushi managing to reach his goal and the antidote is developed and mass produced...

But since Dazai's jaw ruptured, his body is actively rotting from lack of eating for the past 2 weeks. Once the antidote is developed, the lab suggested Atsushi to just let him "sleep" because there is no point for Dazai to take it, his life would be in agony with his missing vital features.. (Dazai would be dead either way)

The agency was his whole world and Atsushi lost them on the first wave of the apocalypse. That means Atsushi will have no one left once Dazai is dead. That's why he decides to join him. To him, there's no more reason to stay once Dazai is gone.

Dazai would want Atsushi to continue living freely again but again, he can't protest properly without his jaw.

before the world was even aware of it, zoro had already viewed luffy as a being higher than any gods out there. and it's so endearing when you also think abt the fact that while he had this mindset the entire time, he also willingly labeled himself as a demon/king of hell to match luffy's ascension, essentially making that god/demon and god/sinner trope canon.

that's the beauty of zolu, fanfics and fanarts only needed to add little to make the ship so good. we literally have almost everything most ships wished to see in theirs. we have the matching scars at the exact same place like some soulmates au, we even have that "jump right in his arms and hug" on a literal episode. hell, we fckin' have that "the world had more colors when I met you" and that "his image reflect in your eye" become a thing.
