I think I realised today why I can’t get into Kev, other than him being a completely unnecessary character. His mannerisms, his trying to be intimidating, his attempts at comedy, how over the top he is, it’s like Emmerdale are trying to make their own Brendan Brady, but they can’t.

What Emmett J Scanlan did with Brendan Brady can never be replicated, that was perfect synergy between actor and a character, that produced one of the best all time soap performances.

It just clicked for me today what character they’re trying to make Kev and it’s just not hitting for me, all I see is knock off Brendan Brady.

I hope we start moving this storyline along because this is getting painful to watch. Why are we not seeing any of this from Robert’s perspective, show us what he’s feeling. I wanted to see him torn about lying to Aaron, instead we got scooby doo nonsense, and admittedly some great Victoria but still. Even now, everything with Robert and Kev is about Kev’s antics and Aaron’s reaction, it’s not about Robert. He says he really cares about Kev but apart from the hospital he doesn’t act like it.

Also hot take, can’t stand Kev, I don’t find him funny or interesting or even threatening really. When he was yelling at Aaron I was just thinking sure buddy. John may have been abysmal but I actually found his quiet menacing to be quite unsettling, Kev is just so over the top it doesn’t work for me.

The special prison episode is soon and I hope that means this storyline will finally actually be about Robert. There is far too much telling and not showing happening right now and I need the writers to lock in because this is not enjoyable to watch.

The show might brush it under the rug but I’m sorry for me Robert telling Kev about Gordon is a huge deal.

I don’t care if Robert thought he’d never see Aaron again, if it was about bonding with Kev Robert has enough trauma of his own to talk about, but Aaron’s trauma isn’t Robert’s story to tell, it’s Aaron’s. We know even now it’s something Aaron can barely talk about.

Look I’m just hoping that Robert didn’t actually tell Kev about Gordon, because Kev mentioned Gordon but maybe he just heard about it in prison.

Okay so no Robert did tell Kev, just because ‘in prison they talked about the outside’, they didn’t even attempt to give a reason. Wow, I have no words. Looks like they are going to brush it away because of Kev’s death treats but I’m disgusted.

I don’t care if Robert and Kev fell in love for real and spent the rest of their lives together, Aaron’s worst trauma is no one else’s goddamn business.

Honestly all these annoying extra husbands are just making me miss Chrissie more and more. Now that was a performance, that was a scorned ex lover, that was one understandably pissed off woman. That was someone who read Robert and like Aaron like they deserved. John and Kev could never be her.

Sorry but these men are just not delivering like she did.

I just love Mack’s dedication to trying to make Aaron happy, whether it’s stripping down in front of a cop just to make Aaron smile or confront not one but two psychos, alone, to ensure Aaron gets his man.

To be Aaron’s best friend you must be pure of heart and dumb of ass.

Why are people acting like Aaron hasn’t explicitly asked Robert if he wanted to talk about what he went through in prison? He told Robert whenever he wants to talk about prison he is there for him.

Aaron even said he would understand if Robert and Kev had a thing in prison. And today suggesting that they take Kev out to get him more used to being out of prison. Aaron has been supportive, but he can’t help what he doesn’t know.

Robert didn’t want to talk about prison because he wanted to ignore it (which is completely understandable and I don’t blame him for that at all) Aaron could tell there was something wrong but he’s not a mind reader. To act like Aaron is selfish and doesn’t care what Robert’s been through is flat out wrong.

No one is angry at Robert for being with Kev in prison, not Aaron or anyone watching the show. The lying to Aaron is what he cares about and whether people want to admit it or not Robert chose to lie him, and even admitted he never planned on telling Aaron the truth.

I hate seeing Aaron this defeated, this numb. He’s gone directly from John to this, he doesn’t even have the energy to fight anymore.

There was no reason for Robert and Aaron to get back together other than to break Aaron’s heart again, like what changes if they didn’t get back together.

The only good thing that came out of it was Vic’s one liners.

Emmerdale as recompense for what you are putting me and Aaron through, I demand Mack and Aaron scenes, so that I can see Aaron smile again.

The only thing getting me through this storyline right now is knowing I’m seeing Aaron and Mack together on my screen again. I love my besties!! I also love when Emmerdale remember that they are besties!!
