We enjoyed our hike through the Tahquitz Canyon last Saturday on our last full day in Palm Springs, California.

Yesterday’s hike was truly a spiritual journey. I spent time on the trail with my husband and Ranger Angel learning about the people and the land of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.

Learning the different plants the tribe used to treat for sickness and disease amongst their people or how they tracked local wild animals in the mountains.

Today’s guided hike was about Defending the Arctic Refuge and standing in solidarity with #TheGwichin. It’s not a place that I have ever been or may ever see in my lifetime but my connection to the land is one in the same.

The Trump Administration wants to sell off the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to fossil fuel companies ASAP. This is a threat to the Refuge and we must put a stop to this nonsense. If Trump have his way, the Refuge will be destroyed from destructive drilling and seismic testing.

Enough is enough of ruining our planet for 💲The #SierraClub has started a movement that requires all of us to become knowledgeable about the Refuge, get involved with the campaign to help stop the Trump Administration from selling it to the highest bidder and reduce our own carbon footprints right in our local communities.
