okay i realize this is my own set and i literally just posted t but like HERE’S THE THING. this scene has been sitting in my unfinished gifs for months because it is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series and i don’t know quite how to capture it in gif form but so much happens. most importantly? we see the strength of valentina and juliana’s relationship. so many people talk about “loving someone no matter what” and “loving someone even on their dark days” and often that can be mistaken for loving someone who is an awful person but in this case, that is exactly what this is and it’s not at all what juliana is expecting. this is arguably juliana at her lowest, this is her worst day. she’s scared, she’s angry. the lies she told valentina come to light. the truth of who her father is and what her family is come to light and she feels in her heart of hearts that valentina can and should walk away from her. she’s even being mean and snappy in their conversation. she’s being the version of her that juliana is probably afraid of and probably doesn’t like, quick tempered, frustrated, easily upset, raising her voice at someone she cares about becasue she’s terrified an she’s backed in a corner. and you can see it bother valentina, you see valentina take a step back and take a deep breath but instead of doing the thing that juliana’s so afraid she’s going to do – instead of walking away, valentina takes the lead, takes control of the situation, in a way that puts both her and juliana at an emotional distance from each other for a second, but she doesn’t leave. she offers to help. she stays in a big way. and the look of sher bewilderment on juliana’s face when she does absolutely wrecks me. that’s all.

…a novela called Contracara officially went into production.
And unknowingly began the journey of accomplishing the unimaginable…
by bringing these two characters together in adorable scenes like this:
and pushing the envelope in game changing scenes like this:
…and risking all backlash from conservative Latin America by not holding back in thirst quenching scenes like this:
But what they also had yet to realize was the magnitude of audience who would recognize their own voice in a scene like this:
and how seeing someone become so so isolated would help thousands feel like they were no longer alone in a scene like this:
and how holding a mirror to those who may not understand the consequences of their actions would help change hearts and minds in scenes like this:
But above all, how life changing (and life saving) these character’s stories would become by showing those who needed it most that it does get better in an ending like this:
Less than a year later, that same production—now by the name of Amar a Muerte—would find themselves on stage (over and over and over and over…) having defied all expectations of what a Mexican novela could accomplish in a record breaking scene like this…
…by showing that LGBTQ+ visibility and thoughtful representation matters more than what many can and ever could realize.
The difference a year—and two characters by the names of Juliana and Valentina—can make.

amar a muerte - hey, what’s your favorite meal of the day?
Reblogging every time. I will never get over this scene.

Pacto? Pacto.
“Stay with me, please.”
We had no idea the impact this would have. Of course we do our jobs with so much love and always hope people will receive it well, but this was a great surprise. We always said, look if we can touch one person and change their life, mission accomplished. It seems to me we touched many.
“If we could you know … give eachother clear signals , that’d be great!”
- Every lesbian with a love interest
I just came out to my friends with this video and i’m not sure if i’m proud of it or hate it
Supergirl: “Look, we have a plan for our show. We’re not just going to throw in a lesbian relationship because the fans want it and the chemistry between actors just happens to be there. No show would ever do anything like that.”
