@dragonettespaghetti
hey so why is 'i brought you into this world i can take you out' such a common saying for parents. why is it normal to threaten to kill your child because they did something annoying. can anybody hear me
i actually really really hate two-factor authentication because i have been in several situations where i physically lost my phone and email access and was unable to log into the accounts i needed specifically to find or replace them and was essentially just Fucked until some act of god occurred to rescue me. i dont have alternative solutions im just saying this is a real and serious issue
The disbelief and fear on Percy's face in this shot after Luke punches him. He is scared of what Luke is doing to him, the way he's hurting him. He disarmed Luke, yet he is STILL hurting him. He is only thirteen, and the guy he thought was his first friend at camp is actually going to kill him
People in the comments and stuff talking about how the show makes them hate Luke as a character and it's so confusing because it's like the opposite for me. I hated book Luke so much, his reasoning for doing what he did was all over the place, he never really had a true "genuine and good" motive it was all selfish. But the show is humanizing him deeply and it's making me appreciate hia character a lot more! His motives seem truly good even if his actions aren't, now! Anyways yeah yapfest over shoutout Luke Castellan
As a Canadian I cannot get enough of stereotypical Canadian characters in US media. It never fails. I love knowing that Bible Army Walmart Land sees us as Flat Unsexy Cold Australia
on one hand i'd said Bible Army Walmart Land is in a specific portion of the country
on the other hand, my school in a very liberal and progressive area does have a Jesus Club and a thriving underground network of bigots. so anything is possible ig
your SCHOOL has a JESUS CLUB?????
not that surprising. A lot of Christians seem to think it's imperative that every school has a jesus club
I hate this saccharine, cloying, infantilizing way trans men are talked down to by their own community when speaking about the words they choose to describe their experiences and oppression
‘Oh yes, you do experience a valid intersectional form of oppression - but you’re just so fucking stupid, that you’ve chosen a terrible word to articulate your experiences. So we aren’t going to listen to anything you say! You’re just so silly and stupid, you can’t possibly be trusted to articulate your own thoughts and experiences, let alone be trusted to do your own research. In fact, don’t even think or talk at all! Leave all the thinking and talking to the smart people whose suffering actually matters.
Also, no your experiences aren’t unique at all, negating the previous statement of you experiencing a valid intersectional form of oppression’
The tone of voice is no different than when people try to manipulate trans men into detransitioning - overly sweet, infantilizing and concerned while also being incredibly backhanded and demeaning
Nothing will ever be good enough. I just roll my eyes at this shit now
God forbid women do anything omfg. When transfems try to explain delicately and nicely they’re being “infantilising”, when they’re direct and serious they’re “rude” and “aggressive”.
Nothing will ever be good enough. I just roll my eyes at this shit now.
Not a single word was about transfems.
It was explicitly about the community not one segment.
Stratt: Oh no.
Stratt: I don’t have the time or emotional capacity to be sad or stressed about this.
Stratt: GRACE!
Grace: On it!
Grace: *starts sobbing and going into a full panic attack*
Rocky can see, BORING!
The so-called Betrayal Scene makes me sick to my stomach every single time. Because damn right it is a fcking betrayal!!! Grace betrays everything they’ve been working for together for years! And what kills me is that Grace gets to say “I can’t do it.” He gets to panic, break down, run away from the responsibility. Stratt never gets that option. She is just as devastated and terrified as he is, you can literally see it all over her face.
GOD, she does not want to do this. She does not want to force him into that ship. But unlike Grace, she doesn’t have the luxury of collapsing, because somebody still has to act. Somebody still has to make the impossible decision and live with it. And Sandra Hüller plays this so brilliantly because she never makes Stratt’s suffering loud. She keeps it all so restrained and controlled, but you can still see every tiny crack in her composure. She has to hold herself together while her entire world is falling apart.
And the thing is, for YEARS Grace was probably the closest thing she had to a friend. Someone she trusted, relied on, someone who actually understood the unbearable weight she had to carry every single day while the entire planet waited for extinction or salvation. And instead of meeting her halfway and carrying that burden together with her, Grace leaves her alone with it. Grace gets to unload all of his fear, anger, and panic onto her, and she STILL has to be the one who is held responsible. THAT is what makes me lose my mind every time I watch this scene. Because yes, from Grace’s perspective, Stratt betrays him. But from Stratt’s perspective? Grace betrays her, the mission, years of work, and honestly humanity itself. And on top of all that, she is of course also heartbroken for her friend. She has to sacrifice someone she deeply cares about, become the villain in his story, and still keep going. As Sandra Hüller’s character says in Sibyl, “Sometimes having a breakdown is a luxury.” And damn well it is for Eva Stratt.
