Putting an end to it || Nova & Sally

The Austrian officials swept the main floor, doing a very thorough job collecting evidence and detaining the perpetrator. Sally was impressed, she appreciated how seriously they were taking it. The attic wasn’t home to much beyond pieces of what she assumed was the killer’s past, then again, perhaps this past had less to do with him and more with his victims.

Just as the thought passed through her mind, Nova appeared, causing Sally to blink in surprise. Her gaze took on a cool, serious tone as she apparated immediately into the basement. “On the writing desk I assume?” she said, approaching the cluttered piece of furniture.

She picked up the photo album and flipped through it, she knew Mabel, she knew of Star and Roza… “Thank you Nova,” she said, closing the book, “with your testimony as well as the evidence collected I doubt he’ll be sentenced to anything less than the dementor’s kiss.”

Nova shook her head. “I can’t testify, Sally.” She said seriously, a huge smile brightening up her usually solemn face. “I’m going to move on soon, now that my killer will be brought to justice.” She sighed, already feeling as if the warm light of the beyond was calling her, even though she couldn’t see it yet. “Any moment.” She repeated, looking up toward the ceiling and closing her eyes. She couldn’t wait to move on, to be enveloped in beautiful and radient light and feel loved and accepted. She continued to float there, waiting for the moment, which still hadn’t come. Come on... she thought, growing impatient. The bad guy is caught, now let me be free. I’ve got some reincarnating to get to. What’s taking so long?

“I uh… I… Maybe…” Carter didn’t like what she asked him, it seemed far too personal of a question.

“You should have stayed gone. Now people are going to see you and be hurt all over again. You’re a horrible person, you should be so ashamed of yourself.”

Carter snuck around the halls of Hogwarts. He wasn’t supposed to be here, but really neither was anyone else. It had been nearly two months since he had been around these halls, and it didn’t feel good to be back. Not knowing that he was considered a killer among the students here. “I’m uh… I’m sorry!” He said noticing someone watching him, surely afraid of the boy who was now a ghost. “Please don’t uh… Please don’t tell anyone I’m uh… I’m here.”

“I’m going to tell everyone” Nova said, her arms crossed over her ghostly chest. “How could you even come back? Scared of what lied beyond after what you did?”

Sally lowered her shield charm, “thank you,” she said earnestly. The front door opened and she heard the footsteps of the Austrian Law enforcement officers fill the heavy, almost silence that had fallen between them in the short moments after she had said that. “I’ll search the attic and you the basement?” she suggested.

Nova quickly made herself invisible before the other authorities could ask too many questions. She hesitated, thinking about what she might find in the basement. She almost told Sally no. She felt fear slowly replace all the anger and adrenaline she had experienced just minutes earlier, but in the end she knew that she was a different person now. She was stronger, and she would never be anyone’s victim ever again. She whispered a yes into Sally’s ear, and floated through the floor and into the basement.

What she saw, was a lot less menacing than what she had thought it would be. There weren’t any torture devices, no dried blood, nothing to really indicate that a crime had been committed by the owner, except the crime of trying to match the rug to the wallpaper. However, she did notice a lone writing desk that was covered in papers. On the papers, was various information about all the women he had killed, and even information about people he hadn’t gone after yet.

Nova felt her stomach drop when she saw that he had been getting information on both her own sister, her friend Rosa, and on Mabel. Thank god we stopped that monster she thought to herself, floating back up to meet with Sally in the attic. “There’s a photo album” she told her “with pictures of all the victims and uh... potential victims.”

Cale grinned widely. “Yo. Yoooo. That is one rad party trick, dudette.” He waved two fingers lazily at her. “Cale. Nice to meet you too, Nova the like, Ghost-lady.” He looked around. “So, like, what do you do? As a ghost. You, like, haunt this place?”

“I mean, haunt is such a dirty word, isn’t it? I guess ‘hang around’ would be more descriptive. I only sometimes go around shouting boo.”

Putting an end to it || Nova & Sally

Sally’s brow creased as Nova’s distress escalated. Quickly she cast a shield charm around herself, blocking the debris from hitting her, she didn’t bother with the murderer. She took slow steps forward, “that’s enough Nova,” she said quietly and calmly, “we caught him and it’s over but we still need to question him and we still need to search the house…nova what if we aren’t the only three people in here? I need you to come back so you can help me save them.”

Nova couldn’t hear anything, she was so angry that she might as well have been deaf to the outside world. However, Sally’s voice seemed to permeate her, finally, and Nova crashed back down to her senses. Abruptly, all the things that had been flying through the air crashed to the floor, and she looked down at the man below. He was cowering, and whimpering. Nova felt like whimpering herself, to be honest. She turned toward Sally, her lower lip trembling, but she did not offer an apology. She didn’t feel sorry for what she had done in the least. In fact, she felt... better. After a few minutes of clenching and unclenching her fists, she finally nodded. “Okay.” She said in barely a whisper.

Woah, wait, really? I mean… I was kind of joking.

“Oh. So was I!” She lied, laughing uncomfortably.

“Whoaaa, duuuuuuude.” He reached out and put his hand through her face in awe, before pulling it back with a guilty but highly entertained look on his face. “Yo was that rude? Like, I don’t know ghost rules, man. Sorry, dudette.” He smiled at her.

“No, it’s fine. I didn’t feel a thing.” She glided through his body, just to prove the point, and then laughed. “I’m Nova, nice to meet you small-face-man.”

Nova makes her face disappear completely. “I think I win, although technically I’m cheating.”

Nova bit her lip and looked at him seriously. “I mean, I suppose. But it doesn’t really matter does it?”

Promise that’s not all you’ll do?

“You’re so pervy.” Nova laughed, crossing her arms over her chest. “Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t. So there.” She stuck her tongue out at him playfully.

Now I’m a jerk? I’m seriously wounded.

“Keep it up, and I’ll sneak into your room and shout “boo” while you’re asleep.”

{fake shock} I’m awful? Me?

Why don’t you get some flesh. I’ll show you how awful I can be. {winking}

“That’s not funny, you big jerk” Nova said with a smile, clearly not meaning the petty insult.

Putting an end to it || Nova & Sally

It was the perfect way for Nova to intervene, it distracted him enough that she was confident her next spell would land. More than confident. She was certain. She cast the stitching charm at him, twice, the needles grazing his skin before their thread wrapped tightly around him. She cast a stunning spell at him for good measure, knocking him off his feet. He landed with a thud on the floor, having dropped his wand at some point after the first stitching charm had been cast.

She cast a few light charms, illuminating the scene. She had made quite a mess. She didn’t care. She cast a petrification spell on the now struggling wizard, crushing a homing bead she had been given by the Austrian magical aw enforcement agency she stepped away. “Nova, it’s finished,” she said quietly and a little hollowly, “we should go home…”

Nova was still seething with rage. She didn’t want it to be over yet. She didn’t want to go home. She wanted to end his life the same way he had ended hers. Despite the fact that the danger was over, things were still swirling around the room, but this time it had nothing to do with Sally, and everything to do with all the energy Nova was expelling. She felt consumed by it, controlled by it. From an outsiders view, it would seem that her form had turned a blood red color, and things started to progressively get more violent. Things that were only flying by weakly were now barreling at a high velocity, and things that had previously been pretty much locked down, had now joined in the tornado of debris. All the glass in the house shattered, and the pictures fell off the walls. Nova didn’t even realize what she was doing, she was so enraged.

In my heart? {looking over at her teasingly} And here I was hoping you’d be with me in another way

“Oh my gosh, you’re so awful” Nova said teasingly.
