My Pitch Philosophy~ How to Pitch an animated TV show

So, I pitched Plunger the Dragon to Nickelodeon last year, and it went super well. They loved the pitch, and I got to make a pilot. Yay!  It was super fun.

A week or so ago, one of the execs commissioned me to draw this comic strip about my pitch philosophy.  She thought the Plunger pitch was probably the best she’d ever seen ~blush~ and wanted me to share my technique.

Warning: (Galaxy Cat is not something I’ve ever pitched… I tried to pick something generic sounding for the purpose of this strip. I don’t necessarily recommend doing anything you’d consider “generic” in your actual pitch.)

Okay, this isn’t throwing back to too long ago, but it’s our super classy music video to the SuperF*ckers theme. Creator James Kochalka wrote and performs the song. Nathan Beaman of Urban Rhino filmed and produced the video. Catchy as all get-out.

The first two (of 8) cover designs I came up with for SuperF*ckers Save Christmas!  My very first design was the one I actually used.  Even though Christmas is over, the book is still available on iphone or ipad, kindle, or comixology.

I’ve always loved Christmas Specials.  This book was originally written as an episode of the SuperF*ckers animated cartoon series, but never produced in that form.  I couldn’t just let it die, so I drew it as a comic book.  Why not, right?  And I got it done barely in time to release just one week before Christmas!

Folks have spent a total of 38,480 hours on YouTube watching episodes of the animated SuperF*ckers cartoon series a total of 863,416 times (in censored and uncensored versions.)
