***IN JAMES HOUSE*** /////THE INTEREST GROUP///// The interest group is a rock band Bandcamp: http://interestgroup.bandcamp.com/album/the-passenger-7 soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/the-interest-group "The interest group has been tantalizing audiences with their mystical psychedelic haze and siren song of singer Marissa Lesnick" -The Deli "By mixing delicately plucked Spanish guitar and sepia-toned harmonies, the duo conjure a palpable feeling of timeless cool. (It's easy to envision the song's protagonists smoking cigarettes and wearing tastefully retro overcoats.)" -Nathan Reese, Interview Magazine "pure modern pop gold" -The Key feat on pitchfork: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/13608-the-boys-and-the-girls/ /////BIRTHDAYS///// Remember when Birthdays (Sammy Yager) came to Haverford back in 2012 and it rooled? Well he's coming back for more good times! In July of 2013, Sammy got in a bike accident, and musicians, friends, and fans from all over the world anxiously awaited his recovery from a coma. Bands from all over played benefit shows to raise money for his medical bills-- seriously Sammy is such a beautiful person and friend that everyone wanted to help. Luckily, Sammy awoke from the coma and after a year spent recovering, he is ready to play his first show since his accident. Sammy will still be playing the hypnotic psych jams of Birthdays, but in the wake of his accident, he will also be incorporating more droney healing/meditation music and sharing his experiences living with a traumatic brain injury. http://birthdays.bandcamp.com/album/birthdays âHe creates obscure pop songs that sound like the purgatory between being awake and asleep... while at a party.â -Breakfast of Champions records "Birthdays stirs that blissed out bubbly electro that's been steeped in this year's Kool Aid" - Impose Magazine [here's some links about the accident: - http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/news/birthdays-sammy-yager-recovery - http://www.imposemagazine.com/bytes/news/birthdays-sammy-yager-in-the-hospital]
welcome back!!! first fucs show of tha year & we're bringing you an electropop adventure~~ ////EMPRESS OF//// Empress Of (lorely rodriguez) layers ethereal spanish and english vocals over wild beats to make dream pop as you've never heard it before. Voted 13th in Stereogum's ranking of the best new bands of 2013, empress of has been on the rise, playing SXSW last year and Pitchfork Music Festival this past summer. She's shared the stage with acts like Cults, SZA, Jamie Lidell, Toro y Moi, and CHVRCHES to name a few. You don't wanna miss this lady!! "Brooklyn's hot new electronic auteur assaults the senses with her genre-busting torch songs from another dimension" - the guardian https://soundcloud.com/empressof ////COUPLES COUNSELING//// Couples Counseling is the boston-based bedroom pop project of Virginia de las Pozas. She writes hypnotic electronic songs on buses. "One of the mystical characteristics about her songwriting and composition is how each of her songs feels like a cozy, personal, and engaging conversation with de las Pozas herself." - steep sounds http://couplescounseling.bandcamp.com/releases
HELADO NEGRO Helado Negro (yes thatâs black icecream) is Roberto Lange. He mixes soft Spanish/English vocals and dance beats to make crazy electronic Latin psyche-funk like nothing youâve ever heard. beautiful&dancey at the same time!!! https://heladonegro.bandcamp.com/album/invisible-life-2 "In every style Roberto Carlos Lange develops, a sultry, dreamy temperament remains apparent, from the shimmying cadences and simmered arrangements to his just-woken-up voice." âPitchfork âHis latest album, Invisible Life, offers a kind of spongy funk concrĂšte in the tradition of Brian Eno and David Byrne's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, with tropical rhythms and sublimated reggae bubbling underneath drum-machine crunch and hazy layers of synthesizer. Alternating between English and Spanish, his own voice is his strongest instrument, doubled across the octaves in a way that suggests the interplay of light and shadow.â âSPIN Magazine FRIEND ROULETTE Friend Roulette is a wild chamber pop group blending 2 drummers, violin, clarinet, guitar and vocals to make a âding dang of a live experience.â https://soundcloud.com/friendroulette âTheir forthcoming Grow Younger EP is bursting with imagination; itâs the sort of record where dignified string arrangements bleed into gauche prog-rock synth lines and twee-inflected ballads bloom into psych stompers.â - Stereogum "Friend Roulette never gives away the plot, but the distinct pleasure of discovering their dreamy Cabaret texture is enough to keep your ears duly occupied during the journey.â - THE DELI SPRINGSTEEN Springsteen is a reverby dream pop group hailing from Boston. http://springsteen.bandcamp.com/ âIt was just magical and so FUCKING relaxing.â âAllston Pudding
Hiss Golden Messenger: country/folk singer from NC. This one's gonna be slow & easy. http://shop.heavenandearthmagic.com/album/bad-debt http://shop.heavenandearthmagic.com/album/haw Skinny Dennis: all attic no stairs
guess what there's another fucs show this weekend bet u weren't expecting that
it's gonna be dance-y!!! Jaill is psych-pop band from Milwaukee with some terribly danceable garage-poppy tunes https://myspace.com/jaill http://jaillonline.wordpress.com/ "These four Milwaukee dudes mix the beaming choruses of '80's New Wave with the lovable shrug of '90's guitar-based indie" - Spin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Life Size Maps is a noise pop/glitch pop trio from Brooklyn http://lifesizemaps.bandcamp.com/ http://lifesizemaps.com/ "Life Sizes Maps new EP Excavate, encapsulates the playful synth-noise-pop tunes. Its whimsical and alluring riffs are enticing and you may end up grooving in your office chair like I did when I first heard the album." -Bushwick Daily "Like no other epic, euphoric band that has come before them" -Oh My Rockness
soooo come to duh fucs show!

fucking delicate steve played my guitar the other night at the #fucs show. i will never play it again.
hey welcome back hope you accomplished all of ur ~dreamz~ over the break i myself helped my mother buy a new cellphone cover from ebay and watched a bunch of breaking bad so that was pretty hype it's only gonna be more L-I-V-E from this point tho cuz boy is this show gonna be good-- Up first we have Hot Sugar! So this guy's pretty amazing. Other than being confused with the song by Tamar Braxton under the same alias, he a spectacularly innovative NYC beat maker. He samples the pedestrian aural chaos of the metropolis and transforms it all into entrancing, foot wigglin' hippity hop compositions. Here's what he had to say for himself when he spoke to the New York Times' East Village blog. "I like how counter-intuitive it is to record out here. Producers and recording engineers are taught to record in the most silent and sterile conditions, making most studios a prison for sounds. Iâm against that idea, and Manhattan is one of the loudest places in America, so I try to record amid the chaos and play with the results. Itâs easy to surrender to the cacophony of the city but if you focus on the landscape and learn to decipher it, it turns into a gift basket of cool sounds and I just pluck the ones I want from it. Hurricane Irene gave me some intense sweeping transitional sounds. Once, a girl crying in front of the YMCA had perfect pitch, which I turned into a violin. Lately, Iâve been more interested in non-sounds or at least sounds that arenât in our audible range. Iâve been working with what we perceive as silence, recording the room tone in building lobbies or other quiet spots around the East Village and cranking the volume afterwards to hear how that silence sounds. Youâd be surprised by how different the silence in a funeral home on Second Avenue sounds compared to silence at the Tompkins Square library." listen to his ep on bandcamp fortified with vitamin d!! http://hotsugar.bandcamp.com/ Next but last is that white goldilocks who tours with none other than Das Racist, Le1f, and other Greedhead record label rap guys, Lakutis! He does this absurdist nerd hop thing that's pretty diggable. And he has a Mike Tyson style gold tooth so that's what's up too right!! To further understand Lakutis, here is a paragraph in which he describes his favorite Game of Thrones characters: âBranâs a loner at heart and an escapist like me. His favorite stories are âthe scary ones.â Heâs very brave and sympathetic. Cersei is awesome for all the opposite reasons. Sheâs a cruel damaged bitch that fucks her brother. The sadistic way she endears herself with Sansa and wants to hurt her because she reminds her of a younger her is amazing. I just finished reading the first book that parallels the fist season of GOT and Cersei seems like the only character they made more complicated and slightly more sympathetic in the show. I donât think I recall them giving any explanation as to why sheâs such a bitch in the book but in the show they have one scene where she pleads with Robert and tells him how she worshiped him when they were married and asks him if he ever felt anything for her. Itâs heartbreaking and gives the audience a rare moment to sympathize with an otherwise detestable character. He also met Kevin Spacey once at a party as he recounts in this riveting tale-->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQeAcezfyzg listen to his 2011 ep 'I'm in the Forest' now!!--> http://mishkanyc.bandcamp.com/album/im-in-the-forest-ep okay go you for reading that much! go take a break! i'll see you on friday at lunt ;)
