Isaiah laid a palm on her back and rubbed it reassuringly. “You’re doing your best.”
“You know what? You need some time-off. How about Tai and I spend some quality time together while you rest a bit.” He paused to reassess his offer. He was sure, CJ wanted to spend more time with her son, what with school and acapella practices all over the place. “Or the three of us could just go out to the park. Fresh air would be good for him.”
"It kinda makes me wish I didn’t refuse the father’s help.. sometimes I just need a weekend to myself, you know?” she said, falling back into the sofa completely exhausted after another long day studying film theory.
CJ stared at the stack of papers on the make-shift coffee table in front of her. They were copies of sheet music for Vocal Division, the acapella team that she and Isaiah had met in. The papers reminded her that she still had a lot of work to do to get the final song put together, did she really have time to rest or to go to the park? “Yeah, let’s just get out of here.” she decided, lightly patting Isaiah’s knee. “I’ll even buy you coffee to make up for the early wake up.”
