Forgot to post this here, but
"Due to my own procrastination and life in general. I won't be able to finish this years Representation Recreation on time.
It's no one's fault but own and I accept that. I WILL finish the remaining 14, just not before the end of the month sadly.
When I first started this challenge, I did so because being Black in America means carrying a lot of weight. At times we're adored, and other times we're demonized. Simply for existing, but through it all, we are still. Black.
Seeing people who look like me in the media I love: anime, cartoons, Marvel, DC, Power Rangers, has always been more than just cool. It gave me a profound sense of pride, honor, and undeniable swagger. Seeing that representation is a huge part of the reason I started drawing in the first place! It was living proof that no matter where you look, we're there. No matter the obstacles or the noise, we exist, we create, and we shine!
I started this challenge to help recreate that exact feeling and share it. So, I am opening this up and encouraging any and everyone to participate in this challenge next year. Let's show the world who inspires us. If you join in, make sure to use #RepresentationRecreation so we can spread the word and see each other's work.
Because just as these characters helped shape me, I want our art to spark that same joy and pride in others, both young and old. 🫶🏾"
