okay. I’m just gonna go point by point on this and try to explain the way i see things to you and why what you’re doing is hurtful, bear with me if you will.
to start with, ill compare goodra to a fairly standard fan favorite,
this guy. now i don’t see any blogs dedicated to proving that pikachu is a girl, even though he shares many characteristics with goodra. pikachu has fairly wide hips as well, the only difference there being that the transition between his neck and his body is less drastic, causing a different body shape. his eyes are round and simple, giving him a cutesy look. pikachu is very friendly, empathetic, and physically affectionate; all of which are considered typically feminine characteristics. pikachus voice is higher pitched than goodras, and carries a much more feminine inflection. so if you are insistent on dismissing the validity of male goodras than you may want to take another look at pikachu first.
on to specifics pertaining to goodra!
goodra is a slime based pokemon, this means that its body is much less ‘solid’ than a human form. goodra has been shown to be quite squishy, meaning that more than likely what you’re calling hips is simply the effects of gravity on goodras body. they’re shaped like droplets of slime, mass at the bottom and a trail at the top.
in most cartoons today feminine characters have eyelashes to add that extra layer of oomph and really drive home the point that they’re feminine, where as masculine characters do not.
you can see the difference here with Ash and Misty. even though Misty arguably one of the least feminine friends ash has traveled with, she still has long pronounced eyelashes to show that she’s a girl. goodra does not have these, making the design of the eye completely neutral.
this is where things get fun. there is no such thing as a feminine attitude! attitudes do not have a gender. at all. ever. there are characteristics that out society labels as feminine and masculine, however all people (and pokemon) are all made out of a combination of these and other characteristics.
as i said above, there are many more “masculine” pokemon with higher pitched voices. also, the pitch of someones voice does not dictate whether they are a boy or girl. there are plenty of boys with high voices, especially when you take age into consideration.
goodra is a slug, its gonna have antennae. the shape of said antennae is stylized, just like the rest of the animation in the series.
normal slug’s antennas are curved, just like goodras. the droop in goodras shape is most likely to add to the slime theme of the pokemon, it wouldnt make sense to have a slimy pokemon with stiff antennae.
now onto why this is a problem
the stereotypes you are perpetrating and the language that you use on your blog is incredibly hateful and toxic. what you’re saying is that is men are anything other than an unfeeling, musclebound ‘manly man’ they are invalid in their identity. this not only tells the young boys that play pokemon and may stumble across your blog that they are unacceptable as people, but that they have to internalize these feelings in order to fake fitting into the roles you’re forcing on them. not to mention that this is incredibly harmful to transgender boys as well, as often (especially when young) they do not fit the typically masculine body type. also, you refer to male goodra as “gender confused” which is a very offensive way to label others. people are not confused about their identity, so if i can convince you of nothing else at the very least please stop using that terminology.
in short id like to ask you to stop forcing this issue and try to understand that what you are doing is hurtful. thank you for reading what i have to say and feel free to respond if you need clarification on any point I’ve made.
