It was a shame, she had wanted to listen more about his history. She knew people were most passionate or sincere when talking about their pasts, but she guessed it was fairly too early for deep conversations. She noted to herself that she had to slow down, she was always known to be a fast person. Taking it slow was a challenge for her. As he told her about his past though, she pictured a young boy frolicking happily and innocently with an Eevee and inwardly giggled. How adorable.

"So, you came from Unova, and you’ve seen Sinnoh as well? How long have you been traveling?”

She was a bit hesitant to answer. Mei has been encouraged many times to challenge the Pokemon League by the people around her including gym leaders that she has defeated but felt like she couldn’t do it. "I started my journey two years ago, but I only have the Unovia badges, hehe." She laughed lightly with a sheepish smile, as if trying to excuse herself. She wasn’t good under pressure, and felt like the Pokemon league was a maths exam and Mei absolutely hates maths exam. But a part of her still longs for it too, a part of her wants to feel that flair when she does beat the Pokemon league. It was a troublesome and conflicting emotion. She brushed it aside.

"What about you?" She asked curiously, interested. So far, she has only seen his Umbreon, so she assumed he had just started. But then again, he has only seen her Flygon too, so it was better not too judge too quick and listen. She eyed him subtly but closely, watching his reactions. Mei found her new friend somewhat extremely cute, now that she has a good look at him and his features. Her eyes moved to his lips and images of them clashing with her’s clouded her mind. She shoved those thoughts down a hole, this was no time to think about that stuff.

There was an immediate shift for Cannon. She had EVERY Unova badge!? She was suddenly really intimidating to the teen, even though to lock eyes with her he'd have to look a few inches lower than his own gaze. He felt as though he should be worshiping the ground on which she walked! "So, what about the Elite Four? Am I go- Are you gonna be champion?" That was close. Cannon almost asked her if he, himself was going to be kissing a champion anytime soon. He didn't know why... it was just what he was instinctively going to say. He must have been getting tired. He hoped. "Oh, me?" The youth sighed. Compared to Mei's, his accomplishments were pretty measley. He'd mumble his answer so hopefully she didn't understand him and would move on. "I'vegottwobadgesfromKanto." When he'd won his second badge, he felt amazing, and unstoppable.. but this girl was his peer yet better in every single way, and he'd only found that out after he'd already developed a minor crush on the girl. She was obviously the complete package. Cannon continued walking next to the girl, getting slightly closer with each step, until his arm brushed hers and he felt her warm skin on his. It sent a chill through his body. Wow. She was electrifying. Suddenly, it was all happening so fast, he was leaning in towards her, faces nearly in contact, when the boy pulled away. Hopefully she wouldn't notice that anything had even happened. Good luck with that. No one's that oblivious. You just blew your only friendship.

"My name's great! My dad had a thing for puns, so you know... 'Cannon Blast' was my full name but whatever." The teen smiled brightly as he continued. "I don't know, really. I never actually noticed it, but people always tell me that when I battle, I turn into a completely different person and I'm so determined to win that it's like I was launched out of a "CANNON" or something, so yeah." He laughed a bit, slightly nervous but mostly just excited to answer the question.

Crossing Paths || Cannon & Kotone

The sun was shining through the blinds, and the smell of maple syrup over waffles down the stairs was enough to drag even the heaviest sleepers out of bed. Cannon uncovered himself from the blanket he had over him and made his way over to his bedroom door, before watching his umbreon, Moonlight do the almost exact same thing. The two of them shared a special bond, and she was definitely completely in sync with her trainer in every way. They were best friends in every sense of the word. He knelt down to softly pet the pokemon and scratch behind her ears. " 'Morning, Moonlight. Sleep well?" The pokemon smiled back at the trainer and they started heading down the stairs and into the kitchen. As much as Cannon loved Kanto, he'd definitely been feeling quite a bit homesick, so he decided it was time for a little break from his adventure. Now at home, eating his favorite breakfast food alongside his umbreon, and getting to see his family for the first time in months, he knew it was definitely worth it to have sacrificed the great time he was making to come home. There was just one person and one pokemon missing, but they would never show up again. They were gone forever. The luxury-ball around the trainer's neck proved that. Breakfast went by quickly, and being as energetic as they were, Cannon and Moonlight were quickly on their way to the pokemon daycare alongside the boy's mother, since that's where she worked. He wanted to check in on the pokemon who he knew would be there, like the ditto one man kept there all the time, or the pikachu who didn't listen to his inexperienced trainer and was left there until she properly learned to battle. Lot's of pokemon came and went from the pokemon daycare, but those two were always there ever since Cannon was a little kid, and they were his best friends growing up, aside from Moonlight, that is. Now, about an hour later, Moonlight was ready to go do some training, but they had a slight problem. The pikachu, Tesla, was latched onto Cannon's leg and pawing at his knee as if he didn't want him to leave. He bent down and flashed a smile at the pokemon. "Hey buddy, I'll be back again soon, don't worry. And next time, I'll be here a lot longer than today, alright pal?" The pikachu nuzzled Cannon's leg, which sent a small shock up his body, but it wasn't anything to bad. He rubbed the pikachu's head before saying his goodbyes, and heading over to the field nearby. Flashfoward two hours, and Cannon and Moonlight were pooped. They were just finishing up some accuracy training, which meant the umbreon had been shooting a lot of shadowballs and waving the trainer around in the air using psychic for quite a while. Not only that, though, but the teen also tried to help the pokemon by being a moving target... meaning Cannon was on the wrong end of quite a few of those shadowballs. Oh, what he wouldn't do for his pokemon. Moonlight opted to head back into her pokeball to rest up, while the youth was stuck walking all the way back home on wobbly legs. By the time he was halfway there, he was so tired, he looked up from the ground and noticed a girl walking in the opposite direction from him and taking his eyes away from where he was walking made him trip on his own shoes and face-plant in front of her. His voice was muffled from his face being buried in the dirt, although still understandable. "Sorry about that."

Making Friends (And Enemies) || Cannon & Archer

Archer glanced over his shoulder and paused, a sour look crossing his face. He exhaled slowly, then drew the pokeball in question from his pocket. This particular conquest meant absolutely nothing to him. The Vulpix pup’s pelt would only fetch so much money, the market for them was not really as high in demand as it had been. But a challenge? A challenge Archer could not turn down. With yet another sigh, he turned on his heel to face Cannon, “And if I win? I presume the Vulpix is mine to do with as I please? You won’t harass me if you lose?”

He was tempting fate. If he continued thinking he were an impervious deity, he would surely be brought to his knees by this child. A shame, that would be, really. Team Rocket did not need another failure at the hands of an infantile trainer with a messiah complex. That simply would not do.

Archer tossed out a pokeball with a mere flick of his wrist, and a Koffing spilled out, spewing thick fumes into the once clean air. The bloated creature let out a low sound, and smog billowed from its gaping mouth and into the breeze. The creature fixed its bulging eyes on Cannon, belching out another round of noxious smelling chemicals. 

Archer crossed his arms almost primly, as if daring his opponent to make a move, lips drawn into a feral grin, “Please, by all means, defeat me. I need a little amusement. This day has been quite dull.” His words were quite cool, despite the tension that now built up in his chest. The Executive could almost feel the very situation spiraling out of control and all he had to do was say no and walk away. If he lost, it would be his own arrogance that brought him down.

"Make your move, kid." Archer found himself laughing, unable to stop himself, "Defeat me."

Cannon grinned, deviously. There was no chance in hell he wouldn't walk away the victor, if he was determined and Moonlight was determined. He could see a familiar flare so clearly in the pokemon's eyes that he took a gutsy chance. "I'll do you one better. Moonlight, right here, my best friend, and my only pokemon... You can have her if you win." He didn't do this brashly, however. He and umbreon were completely in sync at this point- she wouldn't have it be any other way. Now, they had to win. As the Koffing spilled into the air, Cannon began to choke up, before he adjusted his breathing, as did his pokemon. Moonlight slowly strutted forward to align himself directly across from the poison-gas pokemon. The trainer locked eyes, with the other, much more detestable trainer across from him, as his umbreon did the same with the other that it'd soon be battling. Total sync. Taking the other's arrogant words to heart, the teen assumed he would be making the first move. He didn't want to lay all of his cards on the table so soon, so even though Moonlight did know Psychic- a move that would be super-effective on the Koffing, he wouldn't reveal that until he knew it would be put to good use. "Moonlight, I trust you to make the right choice to begin this battle." It may have seemed questionable to let the pokemon make the first and arguably most important call for itself, but over so much time, Cannon was sure the beautiful black pokemon would make the decision that he, himself would have made. He assumed correctly. The umbreon moved slowly- timidly, at first, but when it seemed as though she might settle in her current position, she dashed forward with her newfound speed until she was almost touching the cloud of gas. Then, just when it seemed like they would collide, she slid underneath the pokemon and stood upright. He'd make the call out loud to reassure her of her decision. "Moonlight, shadow ball!!" Once the pokemon leaped up and sent the orb of dark energy hurtling towards the opposing pokemon, Cannon's focus was set in stone on the action. The battle had begun.

Ooc;; this is interesting, because there actually used to be a prompt day, aside from tmi tuesday, called headcanon Friday. I wonder why people stopped doing that..maybe we could start it up again!

Hey, if anyone is interested, I'd be willing to accept writing prompts in asks, and make short posts about what ever you guys would like to see Cannon do. (Ex: Cannon's bro's funeral, Cannon becomes a (pokemon name), etc.) it'd basically be for slow days like today where there's not a lot happening, or just when I feel like writing something when I don't owe replies or anything. They can be serious or silly and some of them I'd make part of Cannon's headcanon, but some I wouldn't, if there pretty out there (like the becoming a pokemon one). Anyway, if you're interested then send me a prompt, and if you're not I'd appreciate if you told me that, too (so I could delete this and let people forget I ever mentioned it. lmao).

A young man with blue hair stood not too far away, arm still outstretched after the pokeball had left his fingertips. He allowed said arm to drop to his side and offered Cannon an icy look of concentration, as if gauging the level of trouble the trainer would cause him for swooping in to take the small Pokemon when his guard was down. “Opps, I am so sorry. It looks like I accidentally captured your prey. Funny how that happens.”

He paced forward, the scooped up the pokeball with an almost antagonistic smile, making it painfully aware that he was not at all sorry for what he had done. But, after all, it was’t like he had really committed a crime! Fair was fair. The blue haired youth tucked the spear in his pocket and began to walk away as if he had not even came upon the other trainer.

"You have a nice day." He called over his shoulder, although from his tone, the words all but screamed ‘I’ve won, you just sit there and suffer’. With a smug smirk, he smoothed his shirtfront. Archer doubted people would recognize him without his uniform, but that was all too good for him. Being anonymous was perfect. That way, no children would attack him, no law enforcement would demand he kneel to laws that would swallow him whole.

Victory, even as petty as it was, still managed to taste so sweet upon his tongue.

Cannon's blood was slowly beginning to boil. Every single time he tried to catch a pokemon, the world found a way to sabotage him. There was the family of pikachu in Viridian Forrest ganging up together to keep him from catching the young one. There was the abra he ran into twice, teleporting away immediately both times. There was the mankey who had a whole hoard of primeape backing him up. Now? Vulpix just up and disappears!!! The universe was strongly against the idea of Cannon ever becoming a Pokemon League Champion, that was for sure. ......Or maybe this time he was just a split second too late. Moonlight stomped and growled upon seeing the blue haired male appear, and pick up his pokeball. Cannon was beginning to grind his teeth. THAT TRAINER STOLE HIS BEST CHANCE AT MAKING A FRIEND AND HE WAS GOING TO PAY! Okay, no he wasn't. The teen stood there speachless, watching the other trainer act so casually, as if nothing had even happened. He wasn't just acting casual, he was so arrogant. You have a nice day. Annoyance prominent on his face, Cannon shouted towards the blue haired jerk. "You too, asshole!" Moonlight was snarling, obviously upset. In fact, the boy had never seen her act like that. Could she possibly have a crush on the vulpix? So.. that means it must be male, right? That's what he assumed, anyway. Caught up in his own thoughts of disappointment, Cannon almost didn't notice the pokemon lunge after the other trainer. Luckily, he was able to dive and reach out to grab ahold of his companion's hind legs. "Hey, calm down, girl." The male tried to sound soothing, even though he was just as pissed as her. He patted her back gently before standing up and following the jerk who'd 'stolen' his vulpix. "I'll battle you for Vulpix! One pokemon for each of us. If I win, the vulpix is my prize. What do you say?"

Lol, read more just so this doesn't clutter the dash. I've been trying to draw pikachu all day and I finally got one perfectly and I needed to share it with someone because it was driving me crazy! Then, for some reason my scanner stopped working so I died a little inside. Anyway, I'll be back in a few hours so I can reply to things, but right now, I'm off to the movies to see Catching Fire because I was lame and didn't see it yet, so, I'll be back! xD

The Saffron streets were absolutely radiant, the colours and vibrance reminded her of traditional festivals towns would often hold a few times a year minus the crowds and music. Mei wondered how the residents of the city slept, thick curtains perhaps? Nonetheless, the city was beautiful, it almost looks like light was coming out of the ground. Actually, maybe that was kind of too exaggerated. After she decided to withdraw Zoomer, for reasons like he was too big to follow her around and that he’s been unable to rest for the past few hours, she and her new friend paced side by side down the streets of Saffron.

“So uh- You’re not from Kanto, are you? Neither am I. I was born in Kalos, but I’ve lived in Sinnoh most of my life.” 

She removed her attention on the stores, and locked eyes with Cannon while wearing a wide smile. So he really wasn’t from Kanto, she felt embarrassed for hinting him to show her around. Kalos? She was yet to visit that region, she’s heard many things about it. Though she has been to Sinnoh before. Mei definitely noticed how tensed he was, his shoulders looked kind of stiff.

This made her worry a little bit, maybe she really did corner him into coming with her, or maybe he was just shy. If so, Mei hoped he warms up to her soon, she wouldn’t want to make him do anything he doesn’t want to. Finally, she responded enthusiastically.

"Yeah! I’m from Unova. I’ve always loved the pokemon at Sinnoh, is that where you met Moonlight?" She asked with interest in her voice.

Perfect: That's what this night was for Cannon. The city was lovely, he was walking with a lovely girl, making his first new friend in years, and he was actually getting some human to human time, since Moonlight pretty much launched herself back into his pokeball for some rest, barely waiting for her trainer to click the button to have her return. For the past few minutes it had just been Mei and Cannon and he was surprised to be enjoying it as much as he was, despite the tension and nerves he was experiencing. Your eyes are so beautiful.... That's what he wanted to tell her, but he knew he didn't need to. Plenty of guys had probably told her before, and he was sure many would after him, too. No need to spill his guts and make a fool of himself. How long had he known her? Well, definitely not enough time to be feeling like this. It must have been the city, or just the excitement from earlier making him feel a bit more emotional. "Yeah! I’m from Unova. I’ve always loved the pokemon at Sinnoh, is that where you met Moonlight?" When she finally spoke, Cannon was glad to hear she asked a question and he wouldn't have to come up with something by himself. Speaking was not his strong suit- except when it came to his companion pokemon. He could go on for hours about her, but hopefully that wouldn't be the case since he wanted to learn more about Mei and Unova. "Yeah, actually," the teen smiled. "I was pretty young when I got her. Well, when I got her egg. I live right by the Pokemon Day Care there. She hatched in my arms under the moon, and that's how she got her name. Then she was Umbreon soon, so it fit perfectly." Cannon looked at the ground. He decided it was best not to delve into their more personal history now, considering the night was going pretty well by his standards. "So, you came from Unova, and you've seen Sinnoh as well? How long have you been traveling?" He felt a bit smaller than just before, with the incident now on his mind, and finding out that Mei was so much more experienced as a trainer than he was. The brown haired boy tried to not look sad, though. He really was having fun, and the girl next to him brought out a feeling in him he didn't ever really recall feeling before. He liked it. A lot.

Mei was a silent for a moment. In that short moment of silence she had an intense debate on which place was most likely to sell doughnuts. The dumpling-headed teen picked up on his hesitation before he responded and acted on her sudden impulsive guilt.

"Oh! I’m sorry! You’re probably not from here either!"

She grabbed both of his hands with a strong grip and pulled the male trainer closer as she wore a determined expression, as if she were swearing vengeance to a loss. Mei was known for not having a good sense of privacy, she was never hesitant to touch people or approach matters with a plain-spoken attitude.

"Let’s have a look around together! Yeah?" She said with maybe even fire in her crystal blue orbs. Her voice sounded determined, mixed with apologetic. Right after those words slipped out, she wondered if she was pressuring, or even cornering him to be with her. Her fiery expression loosened upon this thought, but she was still excited to have made a new friend.

Woah. Every moment that passed brought more excitement for Cannon. Six hours before, the only friend the boy had was his umbreon, and now a girl- a beautiful girl, was yanking on his hands, and his chest was brushing hers, and all of the sudden he was a bit worried about what would happen when the night was over and he and Mei didn't have any reason to hang out anymore. But... that was the shy teenager's mindset most of the time, worrying about things he may not have even had business worrying about. All he knew was that he was sure eager to explore the city with his new friend.

As they walked, and their pokemon began to follow, Cannon finally got a good look at the girl, so that he could recognize her at a distance, or at least that's what he tried to tell himself, as if he didn't share the same human impulses as everyone else in the world. The male caught himself staring and blushed. He hoped she didn't notice.

Cannon was beginning to get a little tense, his nervousness growing as the silence lasted. Finally, he spoke. "So uh- You're not from Kanto, are you? Neither am I. I was born in Kalos, but I've lived in Sinnoh most of my life." He tried to smile, to not come off as if he was just stating facts. In reality, he was just so nervous that if he laughed, he might start crying. He was pretty capable of picking up on things like he mentioned to Mei, using a bit of guesswork and a bit of intuition. She owned a flygon, a pokemon not native to Kanto, and she'd also never been to Saffron City! He knew if he lived in Kanto, he would have definitely at least visited once before. From what he could tell, the pair of them were nothing alike, though, so he could always be totally wrong. This girl was a complete mystery to him, and he was intrigued to try and learn more about her.

Just two hours ago, the sun rose from the east and for the first time in months, Cannon woke up in a warm, comfortable bed. Of course, he wasn't the only one- his best friend Moonlight was there as well! The umbreon, despite being a distinctly nocturnal pokemon sub-species in general, loved the mornings just as much as she loved nights. The two got ready for the day and finally left the lovely hotel they'd been in, in Saffron City. Fast-forward to the current moment, and they were enjoying the sunny weather on Route 8. The trainer and his companion were doing a little bit of training. A few minutes before, the teen ran a distance marked by two lines (like a 40 meter dash), and timed himself. To the delight of Moonlight, he'd given her a rare candy to increase her abilities before they trained her for speed. It wasn't too long ago that they were chased by angry primeape and the pokemon barely outran the boy. Cannon stood at the finish mark, trusting Moonlight to not cheat at the starting line. "3.. 2... 1... GO!" The trainer called across the "track" to signal that he was starting the timer as he outstretched an arm for the black beauty to tag so he could push the timer correctly. He watched her dash faster than he'd ever seen her move before; the rare candy must have put her passed a milestone. Entranced at the umbreon's grace, Cannon had absolutely no time to react to the fact that she misinterpreted his outstretched arm as a signal that he'd catch her. They both hit the ground hard, but almost immediately after started giggling, before laughing to their lungs' full capacity. As much as the trainer loved moments like this with Moonlight, his mind was elsewhere. Particularly, his mind was focused on the rumbling in the tall grass. Cannon and Moonlight both were focused on it, actually. Eventually, a pokemon emerged, and in an instant, a brown-pink blur tackled the umbreon clear across the field. The teen quickly climbed to his feet, ready to give his companion a command when he noticed she and what he now identified as a vulpix laughing happily. His mood lightened just as quickly as it'd darkened, as he scratched the back of his head and made way to the two. "Hey Moonlight, looks like you made a friend... err.. a friend made you." Cannon took a knee and reached out to the elegant creature- palm up, to let it know that he was also friendly. The pokemon seemed friendly... until it's expession changed and it nearly bit the boy's hand right off. "OWWWWWWWW." As the trainer childishly flailed around in pain, both the vulpix and Moonlight laughed at him. That was a first for his companion- any other day she would have rushed worriedly over to him and licked his wounds. She must have really liked the vulpix, so despite its obvious disdain towards Cannon, he'd try to catch it for Moonlight to have a friend of her own species. The male was persistent, trying again to make friends with the pokemon, this time keeping his hands to himself. "Hey Vulpix, wanna come with us? You could play with Moonlight every day if you did." Both pokemon noticeably perked up, although it showed less on the fox pokemon's features, as it was still acting coldly to the trainer. He tried to smile, to be reassuring, and set a pokeball in front of it so it could make a decision for itself. It made one alright. The wild vulpix used 'double kick' right in Cannon's face. Despite the extreme headache and lack of feeling in his jaw, the super-trainer was in awe. He didn't know that vulpix could learn double kick. In fact, they usually couldn't! It must have been a very special pokemon for it to be able to use that move. Stunned and still in pain, Cannon sat back as he watched the two pokemon nuzzle each other before the vulpix began to take it's leave and Moonlight began to return to her companion. "Hey, you don't have to let Vulpix leave, girl. Let's see if we can't just get her to come along for the ride." The boy smirked, sure that this time he would actually be able to capture the pokemon he was after.

Cannon stood, with a confidence and determination that he usually only had during  intense battles. This was it, the biggest do or die moment in his journey so far. He had to catch vulpix because he could see in Moonlight's eyes for the short time they were together that it was brightening up her day, and she deserved that everyday. The teen picked up the pokeball and put it back in his pocket, swapping it for an ultra ball- one of the few he'd really saved up for. He took his aim and with complete concentration, threw it with perfect accuracy. He would have this vulpix in the bag. ....Except he didn't. The ball landed right on the ground, cracking in half right where the pokemon should have been. Vulpix had disappeared right before his eyes. He went over to inspect, and found something strange. Not only was the broken ultra ball there, another ball, perfectly in tact sat next to it. "What the hell....?"

She put Zoomer’s pokeball back in her bag upon seeing it interact with the smaller pokemon as if having a conversation. She returned her attention to the male trainer. Now that she was in front of him, she noted that he was in fact a head taller than herself. Cannon had brown, tamed but still somewhat spiky hair with bangs that fell inbetween his green eyes. Mei leaned forward while tilting her head curiously, his eyes looked strange, maybe he was wearing contacts? 

"Do you want to go grab a bite to eat?" Cannon blurted out the words before he could think. "Or something else? 

She straightened herself up, her lips curling into a wide smile before she replied. “Yeah! I was actually lost in the woods before I found you so I’m starved.” She complained with a tired expression, placing a hand over her stomach. Her cerulean orbs glanced around the area. She guessed not too many stores were open considering the time. “I’m not from here so I’m not sure where to look.” She admitted with a sheepish smile, indirectly inviting him to show her around.

Wow. Mei had amazing buns. Cannon tried to hold back his huge grin as he realized what he'd just thought to himself. Of course, he meant her hair. Not that the other buns weren't amazing either, they were, but he hadn't really been looking. He hadn't really had a chance to think about such things, considering it'd only been moments since he was being chased by a hoard of angry pokemon trying to kill him. He forced himself to focus on the current moment, though. Could the girl honestly be implying that she wanted him to show her around the city? The trainer didn't really know what he was going to say. He'd never been to the city before. Trying to remember all he could about the place, a couple things stuck out. Cannon's father once told him when he was in Saffron City he went to a diner down the block from the Pokemon Center, and he also said that he remembered there was a fast food restaurant located inside the train station. He tried to repeat this out loud without sounding like a complete nerd. "Uh.. Well, I'm pretty sure theres some fast food available at the train station... But I also hear the diner down the street has amazing milkshakes!" Hopefully Cannon didn't sound as childish as he feared he did. Taking one glance over, Moonlight seemed to be really enjoying her time, and she and Zoomer seemed to get long well. If after all this time, the small pokemon could still be sociable, who's to say her trainer couldn't do the same. "Or we could try and find something else, if you're not into either of those."
