He somehow felt himself calm as well as he held her tight to him, letting his hand move up and down her back as he pressed a soft kiss on the side of her face. The moment she said she was sorry he let go shaking his head “no no no, don´t apologize for something that is not your fault, this is on both of us Hailee, don´t apologize please” he spoke calmly hoping that his calm voice would both calm him and her down. It was quite obvious neither of them were ready for this.

“I´m glad you told me, this is just so huge, unexpected” he ran his hand through his hair not really knowing what words should come out of his mouth. He didn´t want to say that he regretted that night. He didn´t. but could he say that he liked it? she was his best friend and he wanted her to stay his best friend no matter what. “I do need to take you to a doctor, they can check everything is alright “ he said letting out sigh “ whatever you want to do Hailee I will be here for you, if you want the baby i´ll do my best to be the best dad I could be” he knew his words sounded as if he wouldn´t mind if she got rid of it, but it was not that at all. He just wanted her to know he was going to be there either way and he was not going to lie that he was super excited about having a baby at this time. 

Hailee didn’t know how to feel about the situation, in fact she felt like she didn’t have any opinion on the matter. What she was more worried about at the moment was Niall’s reaction. It seemed after he came back from that short break the air was much more calm. She nodded silently as she lifted her head from his chest. The immediate concern was evident and Hailee could hear it in his voice as he spoke to her. She tried her best to listen to every word, and for the most part she retained it. “Very unexpected, but I’m not entirely sure what to do yet. I mean... this is still kind of fresh.”

Never did Hailee anticipate thinking about what she would do in a place like this, with Niall with her of all people. However his presence in itself kept her from the stress she was beginning to pile onto herself. “We could set one up, I think that would be a good first step to really know all that’s going on.” Agreeing with him, she glanced at the test on the table. “It’s sweet of you to say that it’s my decision, but there’s more to it than that, don’t you think? Your input means just as much as mine.” She said, just thinking of as big of a decision as it was the girl knew she couldn’t make it by herself.

As the words came out he sat quietly just looking at her trying to process what she was saying. “We used a condom didn´t we?” he asked scratching his head a bit. “ Shit… are you.. this is not a joke? if it is it´s not funny.. one bit” he spoke nervously even if he knew for sure that she was being serious.He didn´t take her as someone who would joke about something like that and considering how nervous she was. He was just trying to process it. “ Are you sure?.. maybe it´s wrong, the tests can be wrong,”he ran his hands nervously over his face. It was quite obvious that he was freaking out.”I´m sorry , but I need some air” 

He got up and made his way out the door again just taking deep breaths trying to wrap his head around it. It was way too early for him to be a dad. Maybe it was wrong for him to do so since his friends had kids young and still battled their careers great, but this was not how he imagines his first child to come. He wanted to be older, finished with his music so he could be there for the child as much as he could and as well importantly , in love and in a happy relationship. He was thankful however that it was Hailee out of everyone and not some stranger. 

After a few minutes he made his way back looking ar her “ i´m sorry.. I just needed a breather, “he looked at her, she must be so scared so he decided to take his own fears away and walk up to her and wrap his arms around her “ it will be alright, we will figure it out okay?”

“What?” She said, with her eyes widened slightly. Shaking her head, Hailee tried to dismiss his response, but she knew it was only natural to not believe her. “It’s not a joke. I wish it was..” Her eyes finally picked back up to him, and straight away she could see the look on his face and soon there after he had left her to get air. She didn’t blame him for being hesitant about it, and as he left her she decided to climb back up the stairs and fetch the test she’d recently taken, earlier that day. As she placed the test on the counter when she returned, she sound herself believing she’d ruined his life. She was 21, a child still in her own eyes. How could a child simply be responsible of another? Just when she was finding herself deeper in her thoughts, Niall reappeared.

At the same time, Hailee wanted to be held, yet not touched at all. With his arms wrapped around her she instinctively buried her head in the crook of his neck, eyes closed. “I’m so sorry, Niall. I really- I really am.” Apologizing only felt right for her to do, even if he had told her it would be fine. Plenty of others much younger than them had found a way to make things work, but for the girl it was too early to tell. “I had to tell you once I found out, I know I couldn’t have kept it a secret for very long and it feels like you know me better than I know myself sometimes.”

As he got into the house he got even more concerned and confused that he was before. She needed to tell him something and it seemed serious, there was nothing in his mind he could imagine it being. As she asked him to take a seat he did it right away clenching his fist a bit which was a habit of hit when he was nervous or when he was walking around many people, in this case it was defiantly his nerves. It didn´t seem like she was going to tell him any good news, her face said otherwise, unless this was some prank she thought was funny. “ What is going on?” he asked confused.

She glanced at his fists as they balled up, knowing the anticipation was heavy on him. There was no easy way to step into it, but to blurt it out didn't seem like a great option. “Do you remember when we... you know,” it pained her to even say the words had sex, and it still was a mystery as to how they ended up in this position, but she’d hoped her pause was enough for him to understand what she couldn’t say out loud. “I know we never talked about it, but something happened and I thought it would be best for you to know.” She started, butterflies instantly swirling around in her stomach. Here goes nothing. “I’m pregnant, Niall.” There was no going back, and only after she piped up did she feel herself freezing with her eyes pulled away from him.

“I need to change, maybe take a shower then i´ll be there, i´ll be as quick as I can alright?” he said calmly waiting for her answer. As the call was done he closed his computer in a heartbeat and made his way into the shower. He made it as quick as he could since he wanted to make his way to Hailee as soon as possible. He was concerned, but he had no idea it had anything to do with him or that it would be so serious, he thought maybe she was sick or been into some sort of trouble. It wasn´t usual she was that way though so he was a bit more worried than usual.

He made his way to her place chewing on his inner lip as he knocked on the door. He felt nervous, maybe it was his body telling him he needed to be, but he could not really place why he felt that way. He always hang with Hailee, she was his best friend. She was the one person he wasn´t nervous around. That changed obviously. He took a deep breath as he waited for the girl to open. As the door opened he swallowed giving her a soft smile trying to read if the girl wanted a hug, it didn´t take long for him to give her a tight hug “hey are you alright? you are worrying me like crazy”

Her throat caught again, and all she could do was nod as the call ended. She was mentally kicking herself, knowing she worried him by calling but the quicker she got the words out, the better she would feel. Waiting for him felt like forever, though he was true to his word and had made his way over quicker than she could turn around. Descending down the stairs, she heard the doorbell, a leap in her chest as she opened to door to reveal him from behind it. A sigh of relief mellowed out as she welcomed the hug with her arms meeting in the middle of his back. She rested her head on his shoulder for a second until she pulled back, looking to him with a nervous smile.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you. There’s just something I think I need to tell you. Come inside.” Moving out of the way, she closed the door behind them and the leap in her chest bounded again. How exactly could she go about telling him she was pregnant? It wasn’t as if this had been planned: the pair weren’t even an item. And the fact that this fact could hinder his career concerned her more than anything else. “Here, take a seat.” Knowing he might need it as she found her way to the living room couch and waited for him to meet her there.

There was a immediate worry as Niall heard hailees voice, it was obvious there was something on the girls mind. “Things are going great, are you alright? is there something going on?” he asked not a inch on his mind thinking that whatever was going on had to do with that night or was what was about to come. “I am for a brief bit yeah,do you need me to come see you?” it was natural for him to feel the need to be there for his friends right of the bat. 

Of course he could pick up on her tone, however she didn’t think he could’ve done so so quickly. But that was the reason why he was her best friend. He knew her like the back of his hand, even without being face to face. “Me? I’m good, yeah.” It was a lie and she knew it, but she couldn’t break down and tell him, not yet. She sat on the edge of her bed, breathing deep. “If you could that would be great, I’d love to see you.. How quick do you think you can get here?” She asked, stomach bubbling with a mixture of emotions.

Niall was looking around internet checking the next places he was going to tour, watching the arenas and just dreaming away. He loved his life at the moment, it was going in the direction he always dreamed for it to be.  Little did he know that it was going to change. As he saw Hailees name on his phone he gave out a bright smile which he always did when he saw or talked to her. She was his best friend after all, the only thing he was quite scared about was that their friendship was turned upside down after the night they had. He didn´t regret it, he was not going to lie, but it might of been dumb for two best friends to end up in that position. “Hey Haiz, “ he said as he placed the phone by his ear.

Hearing his voice nearly made her own disappear, as if someone had caught her tongue. But it would’ve been a lie to say she didn’t feel the slightest bit of relief when he answered. “Hey, Ni,” she started, although shaky at best. “How’s it going? How’s tour?” She began once she was able to stall with enough time before thinking of how to tell him what was going on. She decided it was too big of news to break over the phone. “Are you in town actually? In LA?” She added briefly thereafter. She picked at the already chipped nail polish of what was left on her nails, a habit she often had when she got nervous.

Hailee began pacing back and forth, phone in hand. Her entire core was flipping, turning, and knotting up with the revelation she just discovered. She agonized the phone call she was about to make, but she needed her best friend. Her best friend who also happened to be tied into this himself, and just the thought of it made her uneasy. Hesitating, she pressed his number and held the phone up to her ear, allowing it to ring before waiting for a response. Her eyes darted at the positive test on her counter as she swallowed a hard lump, her free arm curving around her petite frame.

Sometimes a three hour nap turns into an all day nap and before you know it you’ve screwed your sleep cycle up. I’m definitely going to have to reevaluate my life choices.
