HEADCANON 001 : OVERWATCH RECALL

the first omnic crisis. the beginning of a new age of feuds between omnics and humans. something that many a human never even saw coming. why would they rebel? what had the HUMANS done to warrant such rebellion. why would the omnics want to eliminate them?? this is something that still runs through angela’s mind to this day.

the omnic crisis was the birth of a forever feud between human and omnic. it birthed the racism people expressed towards them. it gave light to overwatch. it caused thousands upon hundreds of thousands injuries and deaths on both sides and yet -- the way waged on. WAR had always seemed to tedious to angela. how do you expect to solve conflict by inflicting conflict - it made no sense. all it did was feature UNNECESSARY bloodshed. something the doctor was no stranger to. it is hard to remember the last instance angela didn’t have her hands covered in her own or someone else’s blood. but - it was also hard to forget. the swiss army had assured a young blonde that the war would not bring chaos to her family. that the army would do their best to defend their homeland and cast out those who were trying to destroy the human race. and SHE had trusted them. those who vowed to keep her parents safe. those who said NO HARM would come to them or any other innocent individuals. ---- but that’s not what angela saw as she clung to her favourite stuffed animal. -- as she stayed back while her parents pulled their neighbors from collapsed buildings. it’s not what she saw as blood, bone and gore spread around her -- impossible for her to unsee to this day. - that DARKNESS resonates with a child. but something that scars them is watching their parents -- the two people they love MORE THAN ANYTHING in this world. get crushed trying to save others from the same fate.

the first ominic crisis. it left a poor young girl orphaned. it left thousands upon thousands of children without parents - and young angela never even had time to mourn her fallen parents because the war raged on. - and yet --- through all of her pain, her loss of love. she never found it in herself to HATE the omnics. - just like her they had lost their family to this war. just like her they thought, they felt, they lost. and through all of it -- all of her own personal pain, she only came out wanting to help others. wanting what happened to her during that cold september month - as the dust caught in her eyes from the fallen rubble - to never EVER happen to any other young child again. which is why sitting -- in front of the overwatch recall message - brought such conflicting emotions.
