(( Ack, sorry I haven’t been online. Trying to recover energy and I sort of got sucked deep into Mass Effect hell. I’ll try to get a few things out today. </3 ))
(( Hey guys, energy is almost completely shot today, so I’ll be lurking mostly. ))

Bright green human eyes happened to wander in the general direction of the new addition to the bar, looking up to see the female elf scratching something into the journal and then slide it to the spot next to her, the spot between her and the other woman. A dark eyebrow rose as she looked to the elf and then down at the paper, back at the elf, and then leaned closer to read the paper…
Is this person deaf or mute? Wondering as she dug around in her pack for a quill and a well full of ink. Cork gone and quill dipped, she slid the journal over and scribbled something beneath the message the other had presented for her.
It’s been rather fair for the past few days, though I highly doubt it will stay this nice for long.
Elena smiled brightly when she noticed the woman reading what she wrote, and even brighter as she wrote something in response. How nice! The mage waited patiently for the woman to finish writing. It wasn’t an uncommon experience for others to casually brush off the written attempt at communication, so seeing someone who was willing to branch off into her realm of ‘speech’ was remarkably refreshing.
Once she finished, the elven woman glanced down at the returned message, pulling the journal closer to her once more. Elena gave a small giggle, grinning and picking back up her charcoal pencil to scratch out her reply, pushing the journal back toward her when she was finished.
‘The price of living in the Frostbacks, I suppose. Funny how I leave as it changes for the better, only to return to a high chance of snow! I’m beginning to think nice weather avoids me!’

It was early, perhaps too early for some people. Not so for Maryden. Like always, the minstrel awoke at dawn to ready herself to take up her post in the tavern. Of course, not too many people actually visited the tavern this early but for the few that came it was still her job to provide music.
She stepped to her little set-up and began to tune each string of her lute, humming the correct memorized pitch herself and turning the tuning key up at the top of the neck. She went about this for a good minute or so before she strummed a single chord, smiling in satisfaction at the notes it produced.
And now it was time to wait till people showed up.
Waking early was nothing new for the mage; where some may view another hour or two of sleep as prudent, she had long fallen into the pattern of waking with or before the sun. It was the perfect time to train. However, today was a bit further on the chilly side than she liked. When the air begins to hurt your lungs while running, perhaps it was time to try something different This was primarily what brought her into the tavern, seeking some form of shelter.
Elena slipped in and promptly rubbed her hands together to attempt to warm them, glancing around the mostly empty tavern in mild curiosity. Well, at least she wouldn’t get too many odd looks. The elf walked with a faint skip to her step until she reached a table, glancing to the bard with interest. The other patrons often seemed to enjoy the music she played, but the technique was what caught Elena’s eye. It took dedication to commit to the life of a minstrel.
She gave a slightly shy wave, hoping she wasn’t intruding.
(( Working on drafts; like this for a starter. ))
(( So I’ve discovered Japanese Emoticons relate a lot to Elena’s expressions. ))
