Korvettenkapitän Erich Topp (2 July 1914 - 26 December 2005), sank 35 ships for a total of 197,460 GRT, making him the third most successful U-boat commander during World War II. In Sepember 1942, he became commander of tactical training unit 27th U-boat Flotilla.

He held command of the following U-Boats:

U-57 from 5 June 1940 - 15 Sept 1940

U-552 from 4 December 1940 - 8 September 1942

U-3010 from 23 March 1945 - 26 April 1945

U-2513 from 27 April 1945 - 9 May 1945

At the end of the war he was commanding the U-2513, which he surrendered at Horten, Norway. He was a prisoner of war in Kragerø, Norway from 20 May to 17 August 1945.
