Yesterday's harvest. A variety of peas, two puny strawberries, choi cabbage, kale, two slender zucchini, and a pair of crooknecked squash. 10 eggs were gathered as well. It's nice to see the garden rewards after all the work I put in.

The babies are here! The babies are here!! My praying mantis eggcases hatched and I've spotted two very tiny versions of my favorite garden warrior today. This one is featured on my watercress plant. It's always a happy occasion sighting these beloved creatures each year!! Preying mantis happy dance!!

Steak and eggs for me!!?? Thank you, Tulip and Simon, you shouldn't have! My dogs are the best dogs everrrrrr! Lol They didn't know we were doing a birthday feast when I got home, but they sure jumped on the band wagon when I started getting all the ingredients out and the cooking began. Simon begs and begs even after he's been given his little portion. This was a great way to start a birthday celebration. Celebrate those who are in your life. It makes things much brighter. My world is what it is and I am blessed. This I know and I owe every little thing I have to a God who loves me.

I spy Roma tomatoes forming!! I'm so ready for homegrown 'maters. These store bought things are almost tasteless. I buy them on sale and create recipes throughout the year so I'm ready when the real ones ripen. Planted around February 8, I started really early in the garden scheme for 2017. The first one won't make it to the house, I can guarantee it.... 😀😈💖

Herbs for marinara sauce. Most of these were home grown. I'm re-supplying the storage jars this summer as fresh plants begin producing leggy branches and aromatic leaves.

For warmer days, the hose can be set on mist and attached to the fence corner. Both plant and hen will appreciate the cool down. I filled that tub last night and the water was still cold this morning. I'll be shading this entire area later today.

Will work on coop a little more later. In the meantime, hens have new straw, shade covers, water/ice buckets at the ready, and a better sealed roof. I'll need to tack the paper down, but for now, it's set for the top covering. They'll have plenty of shady spaces and a corner with a misting spray for super warm days. They also have a shallow pool for fishing....more on that.....later.....lol #mybackyardchickensRspoiledbirdies
