CREW CALL

If you are interested in joining our film crew, here's what you need to know:

1. The race takes place on May 25, 2013 in Washington DC. Your body needs to be there. We will be making all the arrangements, you need to make the commitment. Details on this to come, but send your questions to [email protected]

2. You are not going to be spending any of your hard earned cash to travel, eat or lodge. However, if you have any sort of gear (microphones, sound cards, headphones, cameras, lenses, anything) it would be RIGHTEOUS of you to allow usage of such items for our project.

3. We can't make you a part of our SurviveDC crew and send you more info/updates without you reaching out! Please send us some of your filmmaking experience (however small) with a brief bit about you and why you want to help us make this movie. Send it all to [email protected]

5. Keep in mind you are likely going to be RUNNING all night long if you join a camera squad!

WANNA BE A PART OF THE SURVIVEDC MOVIE?

HELL YEAH YOU DO! We are actively seeking SurviveDC race participants to feature on screen and crew members to capture it all. 

Do you have an awesome Survive DC team? A bitter rivalry? Did you come close to having the most kills in years past? Do you look forward to the race all year? Are you just an interesting fucking person?

In May 2013 we’ll be filming a feature documentary about Survive DC! We’ll be following SEVEN groups of runners and chasers around for the evening, with 1-2 person camera crews, documenting their struggles to win the night. If you’re interested in being featured in our movie, send an email to [email protected] with your name(s) age(s) and your experience with Survive/any fun Survive DC stories you have.

Additionally, we'd love to see a short (3 minutes or less) video about you, your team, and why we should feature you in our film. Don't hold back! What would make yours the best team to watch? 

Whether you've been running for years or making your SurviveDC debut, we want to follow your journey!

About Our Movie

SurviveDC will be a feature length documentary that follows a several groups of contestants as they try to navigate DC and avoid capture. The film will take place mostly on the night of the 2013 race:

We’ll be following four groups of runners of all ages, body types, personalities, and walks of life. Some will be new to the race. Some will be veterans. Some will prefer to run in packs. Some may be left to fend on their own.

We’ll also follow two groups of chasers: Highly trained and thirsty for the most blue ribbons.

We’ll follow these six groups through the night, exploring their desire to win the game, and their issues with emotional exhaustion, physical exertion and teamwork breakdown.

There is a built-in narrative to this race. The contestants view the stakes as life and death. Viewers will be enthralled, identifying with their own favorite runner or chaser and rooting for one of them to win the night.

Will the winner betray his friends for the glory? Will a frontrunner sacrifice herself to save a teammate? One of them will survive. One of them must survive. Who will it be?

The Survive DC movie is brought to you by Xanadu Productions. Xanadu is made up by Aviv Rubinstien, Keith Brown and Rachel Mossberg. Aviv has run the race before and championed the idea for this film. Keith was once Aviv's film production professor and since then the two have been colleagues, collaborators and friends. Rachel is Keith's former student/collaborator in film and she has worked with Aviv on another feature length film called The Anchorite.
