Hi guys! Its Jaz here! (Meera is a lazy bum, that I am!)
Today was to be our first proper foray into blogging about eateries. However life got in the way. After the Shetland (pardon my Turkish) of a week, we were tired, we just wanted to relax and eat and not take this too seriously for the time being.
I didn't take fancy photos with a fancy camera (I did take my camera, but I was too shy and tired, the shutter noise is a bit off putting), but I did take some images on my phone including this collage, which I will try and upload later.
Venue: The Coffee House (1 Gaelic Lane, Aberdeen)
Tagline: A warm comfortable environment in which to enjoy good food and great coffee.
Venue Type: Cafe Price: Under £10 Food: Simple, affordable and tasty Ambience: Comfortable, but a bit noisy, hard to converse much Decor: Wooden Scandinavian style furniture, fresh and light, lovely custom touches, sprigs in bottles, cute bunting and woven baskets in the toilets. Service: Polite and helpful Repeat visit?: Yes
MARKS OUT OF 5: 3.5
Meera had: Salmon & cheese wholemeal sandwich with Carrot & Coriander soup and Blue Lady (Earl Grey Tea)
Jaz had: Tuna mayo cucumber on seeded white Sandwich with Carrot & Coriander soup and Peppermint Herb (Peppermint Tea)
We chose a corner table, just out of view of the counter, and away from the main crowd of small and large tables. It was nice and private enough however it still didn't hide the conversation of the other tables, meaning we had to speak up quite a bit. And in the lulls, our voices would carry (depending on your subject topic, this can be an embarrassing situation!).
The décor was charming, the long tables in the middle quite nice for large groups, but awkward for groups of two. The toilets were sparse, but sweetened up with nice little touches of bunting, fancy hand soaps and more sprigs in bottles. (I love sprigs in bottles)
The prices were reasonable - £6.75 for soup & sandwich and I liked the cute nicknames they gave the teas. It was busy when we entered, but the atmosphere was quite welcoming and the staff polite.
The food came fairly fast, I ordered first so I felt bad eating while Meera waited for hers..but I ate anyway haha (I was hungry!).
Mmmmmm so good! That soup was healing, I swear, after the terrible week we both had. I still say that Mojo (to review!) has the best carrot & coriander soup, however this was darn good. And the sandwiches were nice too. I love white seeded bread.
(I may have over dramatized the amazingness of our foodie experience. we were sleep deprived (well I was), and starving so anything would have tasted pretty good, just as a disclaimer..oh who am I kidding, I loved that soup..)
Don't expect culinary magic here. Its simple and filling and delicious (hearty - ghostly insert from Meera**) food. Nice prices. Charming decor.
There are window seats, if you get a sore bum from the wooden chairs. Perfect place to study if you're good at zoning out. If catching up with someone, I recommend coming at a less busy time.
Jazzy
ps. I WILL try and upload the other photos..someday
pps. Guess how I took the photo on the top part of the collage, go on guess.
** Meera has this obsession with the word 'hearty'. I just can't take it seriously to tell you the truth. Ahoy me hearties! (Kill me if you dare Meercat, just TRY it! teheheh)

A bit about us..
Sushi is Meera and Samosa is Jaz. We are two foodies from Aberdeen, Scotland and planning to blog here about our experiences in Aberdeen’s eateries from restaurants and cafes and more. We will review and we wont be shy to tell you what we think..
We both love to eat though we don’t always share the same taste
Meera the Sushi
I’m of Malay origin but have been living in the "Granite City" for almost 9 years now.
currently in my 3rd year at university, studying journalism hoping that this would help me with my writing.
I love food, as you can tell by this food dedication blog and I WILL TRY ANYTHING! I'm talking about the weird food...
Collecting antiques and clothes are my favourite things to do in my spare time.
I like going to charity shops and hoard all the junks from there...
I have a crazy future husband who puts up with my brain ideas.
Jaz the Samosa
I’m a Aberdonian by birth and my parents are from Bangladesh.
I love samosas. I’d kill for one right now to be honest.
I love all kinds of foods..but I can be really fussy in restaurants..to the embarrasment of Meera
Common sense is a foreign phrase to me.
I’m a huge book nerd. DO NOT come between me and my books!
I’m not a big fan of cooking as I am of eating, though I can do if forced to. I do make mean omelettes and am great at experimental sandwich recipes
.
I’m a bit of a photobug, doodler and freelance designer. Find my work on instagram, behance and facebook.
Thanks for popping by! If you have any questions or suggestions please leave a comment here, or message us via the ask link and we’ll try to get back to you soon! Happy eating! Where is that Samosa!?!
