This so called secret organisation had been running for a few months now and Dolores was still no closer to finding it. This frustrated her deeply. During her class, one student in particular had been giving her back chat. One, Susan Bones. The name sounded familiar, the Bones family were known. Later that day, Dolores sat in her classroom writing a letter to Fudge as she waited for the girl to show up.

This year was getting ridiculous. First of all Dolores Umbridge shows up, a woman that she had heard nothing but bad things about from her aunt and seemed to have no idea what she was teaching half the time. How were they supposed to pass their exams by reading from a book the entire time; especially the practical? She had simply voiced such an opinion - maybe not in the nicest way - and it had managed to land her in detention. In short she was less than pleased. Susan decided to show up early for detention in hopes that could compensate. She knocked on the door and waited for a signal to enter. When she thought she heard one she walked inside. “Good evening, Professor,” she said. Although I doubt you’re even properly qualified.

Amy made a face and burst into a fit of giggles when Amelia kissed her on the head, waving her arms in the air to be lifted up. “Untie!” She giggled. Susan smiled at her aunt and shook her head, “I think I can manage. I think someone wants you all to herself,” she said, noting Amy’s sour expression at the fact no one was paying attention to her. “How was work?” She asked, moving to fill the basin with water. She may as well get that done now whilst her aunt was there to distract her daughter.

Amelia nodded and headed back to little Amy. She gave her another kiss on the head and pick her up out of her chair. She placed little Amy on her hip and headed back towards Susan. “Busy as usual. I couldn’t be happier that it is the weekend. How about your work?”

When Amy was picked up she giggled delightedly, resting her head on the woman’s shoulder, sticking her thumb into her mouth. Susan turned around to get started on the mountainous stack of washing up that needed to be done. She sighed at her question, “Busy, tiring, incredibly stressful,” she said then smiled, “But I like it.” It was difficult balancing a job so demanding and raising a child but she was managing now. Having Amelia and Fred around certainly helped.

Susan put the spoon back in the bowl, picking both back up, taking them to the sink finally giving in. It was a losing fight. She turned to face her aunt, leaning back on the counter top. Amy covered her eyes and giggled, “Yuck!” She said loudly which made Su roll her eyes. “That’s a no to my cooking, then.”

Amelia smiled at her nieces, these moments were some of her favourite “There is nothing wrong with her mummy’s cooking” Amelia shook her head and gave Amy a kiss on the head. She headed over to the sink next to Susan and gave her a kiss on the head. “What some help with clean up?”

Weekends were certainly a little bit less stressful than weekdays in Susan’s opinion. Not by much given the fact she had a two year old to raise but still, the fact she didn’t have to worry too much about work certainly helped. She was just glad that her aunt was there to help when she needed it. With Mason out of the country it got quite lonely sometimes. With taking care of Amy and working the hours she did she barely got to spend that much time with Ernie which was, admittedly, a little bit upsetting. She was glad that Amelia was there both for literal and emotional help.

She sat at the kitchen table, attempting to get her daughter to eat the soup she had made without making a mess which seemed an impossible feat. When she heard the door she looked up, “We’re in here!”‘she called out in return when she heard her aunt’s voice. “I think the grown woman covered in vegetable soup needs a hug first.”

Amelia laughed and headed to the kitchen. It was amazing how mess the little one could be. She smiled at Susan and shook her head “You’re a mess sweetheart” She laughed and and looked at little Amy “That’s suppose to go in your mouth, not all over mummy”

Background: Susan used the timeturner to go back and convince her aunt to go into hiding instead of staying as department head. In doing so Amelia survived the War and returned to the Ministry as head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement

Weekends were Amelia’s favourite time of the week. She didn’t have to go into work, she didn’t have to do any paperwork and she got to spend time with her son and niece. Mason was currently overseas training with an America quidditch team, she missed him a lot but took it as an opportunity to spend time with Susan and her child. She loved spending time with her grandchild, Susan might not be biologically hers but she was the closest thing Amelia had to a daughter.

Amelia didn’t bother knocking on the front door, she knew she was welcomed inside. She quietly entered and shut the door behind her, she placed her handbag down on the floor “I’m here.” she called out, she didn’t bother to hid the excitement in her voice “Who wants a hug first?”

Alecto looked at the girl, not loosing her patience just yet, though it was a fine fine line this bloodtraitor was walking in. Funny, just like her filthy father. “Oh, dear, I wasn’t asking” she said simply. “You will write those lines until I see it fit” she explained with a wicked smile. She could always force her to do it by different methods anyways, but why waste her breath.

Susan refused to look up at Alecto, she didn’t want her to she just how frightened she was right now. She swollowed hard and took deep breath in “No, no I won’t” she said, her eyes never leaving the quill in front of her. “I don’t care, I won’t do it”

Hogwarts was so longer the place Susan remembered or loved. It was dark, cold and full of violent and cruel people. She did what she could to keep those close to her safe.

Her least favourite class was muggle studies. She hated hearing the rubbish spewing out off Alecto Carrow’s mouth. She tried to keep her head down like her aunt had told her to once the war began but she couldn’t just sit there and ignore it. She spoke up and tried to defend them but the only thing it did was land her a private detention with her.

Susan walked down the hallway towards Alecto’s classroom with her head held high. She didn’t care what Alecto did to her, Susan knew she was right and that’s all that matter. Susan stopped at her door and took a deep breath, she knocked until she heard her call out. She took another deep breath and entered the room. “I’m here for my detention Professor” she said calmly and she shut the door behind her.

Alecto saw Susan Bones walking in and narrowed her eyes. She didn’t like the girl, just like she didn’t like his father and mother or anyone of her relatives. Of course, she got rid of her family, but the girl didn’t have to know that… or perhaps she should? The mere idea of torturing her with that information was very satisfying. 

“You’ll do some lines for me, Miss Bones” she said smoothly, gesturing a desk, that had a piece of parchment, a quill but no ink. Alecto was sure she was familiar with that object since Dolores Umbridge had use it before. Of course, if the girl refused, she’ll have to punish her in other ways which were much more fun, but right now she didn’t feel like doing it, she wasn’t upset enough, probably because she was seeing Rod tonight. Although, she was well aware that her current mood could change in a heartbeat.

Susan nodded politely and sat down at the desk she had been instructed to. She looked at the quill on the desk and clenched her jaw. She had had a few detentions with Umbridge, she knew what that quill did. “What would you like me to write professor?” She asked while staring at the quill. She was trying to think of a way out of writing with it but couldn’t think of any, maybe the line would help her.

There was nothing more than she hated that this dumpster. Alecto hated with all her guts being at this old castle surrounded by these filthy and annoying kids. She hated them all, and even though she was able to torture them as much as she pleased, Alecto seriously didn’t want to be there and much less to teach such a stupid class like Muggle Studies. 

Being at Hogwarts had managed to push her over the edge and she finally ended up losing the little control of herself that she had. Not even Rod’s or Antonin’s visits helped anymore, she was far gone. Now, she was waiting for this filthy little bloodtraitor brat, Susan Bones. She hadn’t done anything wrong other than being a Bones and actually trying to contradict her in class.

Alecto stared at the fireplace, the flames were so alluring… if only she could set this useless place on fire, her life would be much better. Knocks on the door interrupted her thoughts. “Yes, come in” she said loud enough for the other person to hear.

Susan could feel tears forming in her own eyes,she pulled away and looked her grandmother in the eye, a small and hopefully somewhat reassuring smile on her face. “Hey, it’s okay. I wasn’t alone - I’ve never been alone. Aunt Amelia didn’t die until-” she took a deep breath. It always hurt to talk about her aunt, especially her death. “Until a few years ago, in the second war. Don’t think for a moment that I was ever alone,she made sure I wasn’t.” She said with a smile. “I have mum and dad now, and Mason.” She fought back her own tears at the same time.

Elizabeth couldn’t help but smile when she heard the mention of Amelia but it left as quickly as it came “My baby girl. Why, what happened? Who?” Elizabeth wanted to scream and cry. She failed as a parent. She didn’t keep them safe “She loved you like you were her own. She would of taken you in herself if Sebastian didn’t first” Elizabeth stood a little straighter. She was determined to make it right. “If I’m back does that mean they will be?”

Susan took a deep breath and looked down, not able to meet her grandmother’s gaze, “You Know Who.. he killed her,” she said quietly. She wanted to hug Elizabeth again, make it less awkward and instead be comforting but she couldn’t. It didn’t feel right. Despite the fact that they were related, Su didn’t know this woman. She nodded with a faint smile as she looked back up, “She really did, she was great. She did everything she could to keep us both safe,” she said reassuringly. “Well, yes. They could be. There have been a few sightings of- but no ones sure what’s going on. It probably wouldn’t be safe to try and find them. Not yet at least.”

“Oh, um, no. I mean my real dad. Fredrick,” Susan said slowly, immediately feeling and about instilling false hope in her grandmother. “They- they’re all gone. It’s just me, Mason, dad and Layla. Layla’s my little sister,” she explained, trying to keep her tone calm and even with some sort of reassurance in it. After a few moments of contemplation, Su stepped forward and hugged Elizabeth. It felt awkward, misplaced and strange given the fact that they hardly knew each other but she hoped it offered some sort of comfort.

“That’s it?” Elizabeth gulped “Fredrick, Mason and you was the only ones to make it?” Elizabeth was suddenly overcome with grief and was very glad Susan had agreed to give her a hug. She held her tightly for a few moments trying to ignore the awkwardness in it. “I need to help. I need to help with something please” She said while fighting back tears. “I’m so sorry you had to grow up like that baby, it was never meant to be like this. You were never meant to be alone”

The only way Susan was able to get through this conversation at all was by taking her usual business tone and pretending that this was just another case and not her deceased grandmother wondering if her family were still alive. She didn’t want to be the one to deliver the bad news that only one of her children had survived and the fact that she knew that her siblings weren’t actually her siblings after all and that they were dead too. She thought that she would be over it by now but she wasn’t, perhaps she never would be. “My dad and Mason are alive and well,” was all that she could say, forgetting entirely that her grandmother still assumed that she thought Junior was her father. “I’m sorry.”
