10. “I have never done anything wrong, ever, in my life.”//“Mmm … ”//“You’re supposed to say ‘I know this, and I love you.’”//“Well, I do love you.”

It was cold, late and the sky was darkening rapidly. Your foot tapped nervously against the pavement as you hugged your arms tighter around yourself to gain what little respite you could from the cold. Your shift had finished almost a solid hour ago, all of your co-workers having now departed, leaving you alone in the empty carpark. You huffed, half impatient and half anxious as you pulled out your phone to check the time. Your lockscreen was still painfully blank, no notifications, no ‘on my way!’ message. 

You were now regretting not taking a ride from your boss, not feeling particularly safe all alone. Your car was at the shop, and one of your brother’s friends had agreed to pick you up. You definitely could have found a ride elsewhere that was more convenient (and more punctual), but the truth was that you were never going to turn down a chance to spend time with Christian. A fatal flaw of yours, it felt like. It wasn’t your fault, it was hard not to fall for his smile. 

The sound of footsteps jerked you out of your thoughts and you glanced around nervously, peering into the darkness from the lone streetlight you sheltered under. You couldn’t make out any movement which only put you further on edge. Slowly, you reached into your pocket clutching your keys, shifting them between your fingers. The wind whipped at your coat, stinging at your cheek and seeping into your bones.

You jumped at the sound of the voice directly behind you, whipping around to find it was only Christian. You clutched your chest, breathing out a sigh of relief.

“Sorry,” he chuckled, a pink flush colouring his pale nose and cheeks from the cold as he smiled warmly in your direction. “I didn’t mean to scare you.” He held two takeaway coffee mugs in gloved hands and held out one in offering. You took it suspiciously, following him as he led you back toward his car. “Sorry I’m late. Training ran over.” he said by way of explanation, unlocking the car with a click before opening the passengers side door for you. You climbed inside, grateful for the warmth as you cradled the coffee cup in your hands. He smiled warmly at the sight as he slid effortlessly into the drivers side. “and also because I wanted to get you something to warm you up.” He added. You tried not to let your smile show, still doing your best to be mad at him.

“You scared the life out of me! I thought you were a murderer or something!” You huffed. 

He glanced over, pouting playfully at you. “Why would you think that? I’ve never done anything wrong, ever, in my life.”

You snorted at that, humming in mock agreement. “Mhmm..”

He frowned at you. “You’re supposed to say, I know this and I love you.” He whined as he started the car.

You took a tentative sip from your coffee cup. “Well I do love you.” His eyes widened a little at that and you choked, realising what you had just said. “I mean-” you spluttered loudly, trying and failing to cover your slip up. You fell into silence, realising there was no reasonable explanation for your confession. Chris was silent too, like he didn’t know exactly what to say, so you made the drive in suffocating silence. Thank god it wasn’t a long way to your house. You could hardly make eye contact when he pulled up in your drive, only managing to muster a weak ‘thanks’ as you scrambled hastily from the car. You couldn’t get to the front door fast enough, desperate just to get inside and be alone. You swore, your shaking hands struggling with the lock of your front door. Large hands engulfed yours, steadying your shaking. You had been so distressed you hadn’t heard him get out of the car. You looked up, your watery eyes meeting his deep brown ones and your heart stilled in your chest. In fact, in that moment it felt like time stilled. All you could hear was your own unsteady breaths. He was so close, and the space between you felt suffocating and heavy. Your eyes fluttered closed as you felt his breath graze your lips. He kissed you with more gentleness than you’d expected. Soft, slightly chapped lips moved carefully against your own. You could feel your heart soaring in your chest as his arms snaked around your waist pulling you closer, pressing your body against his own. When he pulled away, slightly short of breath, and gently pressed his forehead to yours, you melted.

“I love you too.” He murmured quietly, his thumb moved to caress your cheek gently. “I always have.”

I’m active again! Mostly...

With quarantine and some recent surgery, I have a heap of time on my hands at the moment so I wanted to complete my requests I have pending.

I’m not really sure what is going to happen with this account as I found it super hard to balance the pressure of having so many requests that I want to make perfect for you, and then also real life with uni and what-not. 

Currently I’m just trying to fulfil all the requests I have before making a decision.

winter break|Carter Hart

summary : you drive to washington during your winter break to meet your boyfriends hockey team .

It was finally winter break for your college and you already had so much planned. First stop on your destination was washington ,which was across the country from your college campus. Your boyfriend ,Carter Hart, was the current goal tender for the everett sliver tips and he convinced you to come to a few games and meet the team.

You were excited to see Carter because three months without him made you realize how much you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him. You guys had only been dating for four months but have known of each other for a few years .

After a 7 hour drive , you finally arrived to carter’s apartment . It was the middle of the night when you arrived and thankfully Carter stayed up to wait for you. You texted him telling him you were outside as you turned down his street. you pulled into his driveway the same time his door opened.

It was dark out but his sleepy smile was evident thanks to his outside light. You got out of your car as he walked up to you shirtless , with sweatpants that hung low to his hips. He pulled you in for a hug as soon as his fingertips were close enough to you .

Carter was always warm which was one thing you loved about him. You were positive you’d fall asleep with no problem because of his comforting cuddles. “I missed you so much baby.” he said into your hair , pulling back to kiss your forehead. “I missed you more handsome .” you muffled into his chest . Since you were both tired, you went to bed .

The next morning , you awoke to carters tight grip on you. His legs were tangled in yours and his face rested in the crevice of your neck. His alarm was going off reminding you that today was the day you’d meet his teammates . A feeling of nervousness engulfed you . You hadn’t met one person who didn’t like you before but that still couldn’t put you at ease.

Carter began waking up and unwrapped his arm from your waist to turn his alarm off. His arm took its place on your waist again before you heard his husky morning voice ,” Babe game day “ you couldn’t see him but you could tell he was smiling. You both got up to start getting ready for the day. About an hour or so later you gave yourself one last glance in the mirror .

You were wearing an everett silvertips hoodie with carters hockey jacket as a top layer with denim tight ripped jeans and white Adidas . Your hair was down in a loose wave accompanied by natural makeup. You heard carter call you telling you it was time to go. “coming” you shouted back.

You jogged down the steps to meet him by the front door. “babe I already know i’m going to be in trouble when I get there “ he chuckled . “Car were not even late” you groaned with an eye roll. “no no no you’re missing the point y/n, you look so good i’m going to have trouble keeping the other guys away from you “ he said in all seriousness . “oh please “ you placed you hand on his jaw and kissed him “I’m all yours. “ you playfully hit his chest , walking past him out the door.

twenty minutes later you were getting out the car ,heading into the arena. “I don’t know why your nervous ,they’ll love you . I just have to keep you in my sight at all times.” he assured you. you looked at him giving him a smile to which he returned.

The locker room only had a few players because the rest were either on the ice or on their way. Carter did his handshakes with the players in the locker room exchanging a few “sups” and “how’s it going” . Spencer Gerth was the first to introduce himself to you “im spencer and you are?” “y/n y/l/n nice to meet you “ you said with a smile . “ my girlfriend “ carters head snapped up from tying his skates.

Finally you met the whole time and now all you had to do was watch your boy do his thing. You enjoyed watching carter play because of how much he loved the game. The silvertips won , obviously . Nothing was getting past carter , ever . Afterwards, you made your way back to the locker room where you sat and talked with the other players while carter took his gear off.

Hein was the first to start talking to you. “ so how long have you and carter been dating “

“4 months, almost five “ you said smiling .

“wow , really? he talks about you like you have been together for years .” he laughs

you looked over at carter to see his cheeks were flushed . He was embarrassed but it was cute. you were relived because he was down for you so you didn’t have to worry about any random hookups.

it wasn’t long before the team began obviously teasing him . Carter was hurrying to get his stuff together so you’d be able to leave . He was getting more jealous with every passing minute . He packed his last pad into his hockey bag and slung it over his shoulder . walking over to you and entangling his hand with yours .

“alright guys see you on Thursday, don’t party too hard .” he waved them . “ it was nice meeting you all “ you spoke up. “ hey y/n if it doesn’t work out with carter give me a call “ one of his team mates called jokingly . “she only likes goalies “ he winked back at them , tugging you out of the locker room.

“You’re hot when your jealous ,you know that?” you asked him with a smirk. “ you’re hot when you do anything , you know that” he retaliated , leaning over to kiss you. “i’m all yours and you’re all mine babygirl “ he continued as you made your way out of the arena.

It’s a well known fact that hockey players are superstitious. 

It’s a better known fact that hockey goalies are stupidly superstitious. 

So far, Carter has been trying to break the stigma, and he’s pretty damn good at it, thank you very much. He doesn’t care if he puts on his left or right skate first, he doesn’t have to turn the shower on and off twice, there’s no pregame meal better than others. Winning games depends on how well he’s playing, not on setting his alarm at 4:32 when he takes his pregame nap.

Carter isn’t superstitious, but he is a little stitious - and he’s watched The Office way too many times, clearly. There’s just one thing he can be superstitious about. Only one thing.

IM SCREAMING LOOK AT HIM

You would have liked to be able to say that you and carter spent lots of the time you had together going out and making “memories” together or whatever normal couples did. Truthfully Carter spent half his free time sleeping. You couldn’t really complain, if you played hockey for a living you would probably do the same thing. You liked looking after him too and these quiet days a home with him were a welcome change from the bustle of season and all its hectic schedules. 

You’d spent most of the day here on the couch watching nature documentaries and Netflix comedies. Carter was nestled against your side on the couch fast asleep. It was only about one in the afternoon and the sensation of the steady rise and fall of his chest against the side of your body was innately comforting. Carter’s soft sigh caused the corners of your mouth to curve upwards in a small smile as he sighed gently and snuggled his face further into the crook of your neck. You ran a hand through his thick head of hair which was sticking up every which way. His arm, encircled tightly around your waist pulled you closer. He had been wearing the same thing for the last three days because he couldn’t be bothered chose anything else. That same baggy tee, same pair of sweats you’d forgot he even owned, same mismatched pair of socks. His feet were tangled with yours, crossing your ankles together. You could feel the faint warmth of his breath fluttering against your neck. He’d fallen asleep just like this, with you running a soothing hand through his hair and rubbing circles into his back. He always liked when you did little things like that, holding his hand, caressing his cheek, kissing his forehead. He was sweet like that, a little shy at times, but always so thoughtful. You pressed a kiss into his hair, to the crown of his head. He smelt like your shampoo, making you smile. You felt him hum gently as your fingers grazed the back of his neck before diving back into the soft waves of his hair. You could never quite figure out what colour it was. Sometimes it looked so brown and sometimes it held that warm orange glow that vaguely reminded you of his sister’s ginger locks.

“What time is it?” he was blinking up at you as he attempted to fight off sleep. His voice was heavy with it too; low, soft and a little gravelly.  His eyes closed again as you ran your hand through his hair.

“Ten past one” you answered softly. “Did you want lunch?”

He let out a small yawn before he could answer, making you smile. “I don’t know.” He mumbled You giggled at that. He had the biggest appetite you’d ever witnessed but he still looked so drowsy and he was struggling to keep his eyes open, humming softly at the sensation of your hands in his hair. You yawned watching him. He lost his train of thought at that, sleepily shuffling to adjust you position on the couch till he was spooning you carefully.

“You’re tired. Sleep.” he told you. Comforted by the sensation of carter wrapped securely around you, you knocked out almost immediately, with your boyfriend doing the same just mere moments later.

“You’re cute when you’re nervous.” JJ noted as he took a sip of coffee. “But it’s okay. I promise I’m not gonna judge.”

You took deep breath, nervous as all hell. You’d only been together for a little bit and this was a big ask. You really didn’t want to overstep. The things you felt for JJ were unlike anything you’d felt for anyone before and you were so terrified of making one wrong move to mess this up. “I Wanted to ask. If maybe. I might be able. To come watch you play.” you mumbled before quickly following it up with. “But if you don’t want me to i totally get it.” 

A wicked grin broke across JJ’s face. “You wanna watch me play?”

You flushed bright red. “Maybe?” you replied somewhat sheepish.

“Okay, before I give you my answer, I have one question.”

You laughed nervously, chest tight with worry. “Okay”

“Why do you, someone who has never had the slightest interest in hockey, suddenly want to go to my game?” he tease, a wicked grin all over his face as he took another noisy sip of coffee. You hesitated, knowing what he was getting at. It was an angle you hadn’t considered. Seeing your hot, sweaty boyfriend throwing his weight around on the ice was certainly not something you were opposed to. Your cheeks flushed.

JJ set his mug down. “It’s totally not got anything to do with the fact you like that you think I’m super strong or anything?” he quipped.

“No!” you tried to protest. “It’s actually because I know it’s something you really love and- oooh my god.” In one swift movement, JJ had taken off his shirt.

“No go on. What were you saying?”

You stumbled over your words, unable to look away. “Stop distracting me.”

“Oh am I distracting you? Would you like me to put it back on?”

“No!” you replied quickly. “I mean. You don’t have to. But like- Honestly did you take your shirt off to distract from deep conversations?”

He laughed at that. It was a sound that washed over you like warm honey and your heart swelled. “Oh sorry were we having a deep conversation? I thought we were talking about you creeping on me at my game.”

“I was trying to be cute and cheesy okay.” you whined. He laughed at that and offered his open arms, a space you gladly filled. “you are very sexy though.” you added.

He laughed again and pressed a kiss on your forehead. “I could say the same about you.”

“Zach?” You called, concerned as you popped your head round the corner. The guy in question let out a string of curse words as you eased your way into the room. “What’s wrong?”

He didn’t reply, just sat with his head in his hands practically ripping his hair out in frustration. That sight alone was enough to make your heart drop. You loved him so much and it was so difficult seeing him upset. 

“Hey,” you smiled softly as you slid onto the spot beside him on your coach. “Talk to me.” You prompted, reaching over to touch his arm, hoping it would comfort him in some way. To your dismay he tensed under your touch and moved away. The action alone was like you’d been punched in the stomach. You knew he liked to figure things out on his own but it was so hard that you couldn’t help. You knew he’d been having a hard time recently, it felt like an eternity since he’d been called up and you could tell it was weighing heavily on him. Bouncing from club to club in the ECHL wasn’t doing his self esteem any favours either.

“Well,” he stated grimly. “I’m officially on loan.”

“Oh Zach, I’m sorry.” you wanted to hug him but you knew he really wasn’t up for it right now.

“Yeah.” he agreed solemnly. “Looks like this is my life now. Being loaned out like a fucking car.”

“hey! Don’t say that.” you protested. “please don’t talk like that. It’s just for a bit. And hey, maybe this will be a good thing. You’ll finally get some ice time! and thats what really matters. Doing what you love. Plus, the more ice time you get, the more chance to show those dumb fuck pea brained NHL guys what they’re missing.”

He laughed a little at that. “How are you so positive?”

You laughed with him. “Because I believe in you. And also, the world really sucks and I know if I keep thinking about how shit everything is I’m gonna feel shit. So I wanna radiate positivity and kindness so everyone I meet feels happier. I wanna make both their internal and external realities a better place.”

Zach was quiet for a moment, processing everything you had just said, a small smile playing on his lips. 

“So,” he said slowly. “You want to be a god... Or a space heater.”

You burst out laughing. “Is the bit where I said realities the only part you listened to?”

“Okay, thats the first thing I thought of and now its all I can think of. Please stop judging me.”

“Oh I will so judge you.”

“How very god-like.” He quipped, making you snort with laughter.

also the first bit is based on real life. so like yeah 2nd time meeting my ex’s best mate and big ol pash. i felt so awkward but it was chill.

You weren’t usually an anxious person, it was rare for you to get worked up by something, but, like most things when it came to Brock, this was different. You hadn’t been looking for a serious relationship when you met him and even then, you absolutely drew the line at meeting people from each other’s lives. That only made breakups worse, you’d learned that the hard way. But this was Brock. The guy who made you feel things you didn’t think were possible to feel again. Who made you wanna do cute shit that would have usually made you gag. Perhaps thats why you were so nervous. You know what this meant in the context of your relationship, and honestly breaking down that wall was scary. You were afraid. Afraid of getting too attached, only to be hurt again. Maybe more importantly, you knew what this meant to Brock. His teammates were like his family, their approval mattered to him and therefore, you. You had never wanted to be liked so desperately before and it was terrifying.

“Here :P”

There was no backing out of it now. You inhaled deeply, grabbing your keys off the counter, before opening the front door and stepping out into the cool evening air. The slam of the door as you shut it was louder than you expected, making you jump. You wrapped your arms around your torso, hugging yourself as you made quickly for the car. 

“Hey” You greeted as you slid into the car. Leaning across to kiss him.

“Hey” He smiled as you pulled away.

“Hey” Came a third voice from behind you and you almost jumped out of your skin.

“Yeah, Jake’s here too btw.” Brock (helpfully) informed you.

You did your best to brush it off. “Hey, haha. Sorry I didn’t see you there.”

“All good. Nice to meet you.” 

As if you weren’t nervous enough already, a car ride with a stranger that you desperately wanted to impress didn’t help things.

Your nerves were horrendous when you arrived and you were seriously second guessing if you were ready for this. Your legs felt shaky ask you walked inside and you were starting to feel a little faint. There was so many people. Jake wandered ahead of you but you lingered back. 

“Hey,” Brock’s hand slid into yours, and immediately you felt a warmth flow through you. “they’re gonna love you.”

You smiled, still unsure, but let him lead you inside, wherein the next hour and a half was a blur of nervous greetings and small talk. Brock stayed glued to your side the whole night, whispering words of reassurance when he could tell you were working yourself up.

“Thank you for tonight.”

You smiled, turning to face him. “Anything for you.” You replied, only half joking. He chuckled a little at that. “Thank you for doing all that stuff for me,” you added. “I was really nervous I’m sorry.”

“Hey,” he said gently. “don’t thank me. And don’t apologise for being nervous okay?”

You nodded in agreement and he smiled softly. “I honestly love you so much.”

Your boyfriend lay; calm, relaxed, peaceful, sleeping soundly. His deep, heavy breaths falling gently against the pillow as he slept. It was almost a shame to wake him. Almost. With a finally gaze of admiration, you pressed a kiss to his forehead before slipping out of bed, only to catapult your whole body on top of his.

He grunted as your full weight landed on top of him, jerking him awake.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY LOVE”

He couldn’t help but chuckle as you began to press kisses to every inch of skin you could find. Rolling over, he gave you a bleary grin. 

“Good morning to you too.”

You beamed. “Hi baby. How was your sleep?”

“Fantastic until something woke me up.” He mumbled, running a hand through his hair as he gazed down at where you had snuggled into his chest. 

You pouted. “I wonder whatever that was.”

“No clue” He agreed.

“Well anyway,” You continued. “Now that you’re upppppp I can spoil you like you deserve.”

“Love, you don’t have to do that.” He told you sincerely.

“I know, gorgeous, but I want to.” You replied.

He smiled at that, wrapping his arms round you to hold you close and kissing your cheek gently. “My lil angel,” He murmured. “you are so good to me.”

“You deserve it.” you replied. “But I’m sorry you gotta sit up cause I made you breakfast.”

“How long have you been up?” He asked incredulously. 

“Oh not long.” You replied airily as you wriggled out of his grasp and went to pad out into the kitchen,

“Hey,” He grabbed your hand gently before you could wander out of his reach, making you turn back towards him. He kissed your knuckles carefully. “I love you so much.”

You smiled at that. “I love you more.”

This is a short one sorry

Going back to Sweden with Bill had seemed like a good idea at the time, but now, after being awake for so long, you were really sick of plane rides. All you wanted to do was curl up in bed and sleep for days. Instead you turned to William and asked “How’re you holding up?”

“Fine. The chairs are a bit small.” He replied with a shrug. Of course he was fine. He was used to endless flights at ridiculous hours. You, however, were not. He chuckled as he saw your sour expression. “Don’t worry. This is our last flight.”

“In another hour.” you groaned. “And it’s 8 in the morning so i have to wait another twelve hours to go to sleep.”

He laughed at your disdain. “Did you not sleep on the plane?”

“Hardly.” you replied, making him pout at you.

“Don’t worry, not too long before you can sleep.” He assured you as you shifted to lean your head against his shoulder. He smiled slightly at the movement, wrapping an arm around you to pull you closer. You sighed comfortably and snuggled against him. You were out for the count in a matter of seconds which made William chuckle when he finally noticed. 

He glanced at the text he’d been replying to, then back at you, a devilish smile lighting up his pictures.

“How’re you guys holding up?” Nate had asked. He received a selfie of you conked out on will’s shoulder. 

Flower was first to respond with a typical ‘lol’ but Bill wasn’t done yet. Selfie after selfie of you with various (mostly unflattering) filters.

“If you don’t come back next season we know why.” Nate joked. You were so going to kill him when you found out but he couldn’t have helped himself if he tried you just looked so ridiculously cute and peaceful, even if you were drooling on him. Plus, he’d never miss an opportunity to flaunt the fact you were his.
