Mental Modeling
Before any picture is taken, consideration for the final product should be made. The picture should be visualized in what kind of setting is desired, what kind of effect the photo should have on someone viewing it, and what sources it is being taken from. The easiest way to do this is to get a feel for the environment, and find out what type of settings you need to set to have the impact that you want to with a specific picture. Things like perspective, distance and angle all come into play where they can all be taken of a similar scene or object, but with different factors that change, they can be changed before hand if you visualize the different possible perspectives.

The Depictive Level and The Photographer's Eye
In every photograph, there are four attributes that exist in every photo. There is flatness, the frame, time, and the focus. All of these attributes together define the structure of the photograph. Using these attributes to define the overall theme of your photographs leads to more interesting and engaging pictures. While a picture can tell a story with just a few of these attributes working together, for a picture to be a complete whole, all of these attributes should work together to create a consistent story all the way through. Szarkowski believes that while these attributes are important, they are now editable, so it is a slightly different process. Szarkowski also believes that the object itself that is being photographed is nearly as important as the way it is photographed, and its surroundings.
Shore: The physical level
The physical medium of photographs gives a different feeling than having photographs on a screen. Having photographs in your hands or in front of you gives a different feeling by adding a phyiscal layer to it; is the photograph glossy, matte, is it a large photo, is it so small that you can't make out what it is? All of these features are taken away in a digital medium, until the photo is printed. Some debate that the processing of film is what makes traditional photography worthwhile, but I feel that digital photography is just as rewarding, if not more rewarding, as there are larger margins for error and one mistake does not cost you a great photo.

Assignment#2 Intent
Assignment#2 Chance
Shore text reading reflection
Through understanding the intentions of shore in his descriptions of photography, and what each photograph consists of and means on a basic level, it seems that a photograph is not just an image of a scene or object to be shown, but how it is shown is what is truly important. The angle, setup, lighting, and all context together goes together to show what the true feeling of the photograph is about. It is more so about how the photograph is organized rather than the object itself.
