Nonsense! it must be good enough if she submitted it. Doubting won’t make you feel any better, trust me.
I'll believe it's good enough when they send an e-mail back saying they're interested. Who knows, maybe she hears something they don't.

First Critic || Sutter & Lucy
Lucy: Taking a deep breath, Lucy felt a slight quiver in her breath. She had agreed to sing and play for Sutter; a boy she had only just met. But if she wanted to be a singer, she knew this was a fear she would have to face. The song was rough. It was just something she had been messing around with one night at home, before her first semester at King started, but she had managed to make it into something more than she first imagined it could be. It was kind of a dark, but humorous little song. Something that was different from the kind personality Lucy often put out into the world. But she knew she couldn't keep the boy waiting any longer. Playing the first chord on the piano, she stopped after hitting a sour note. Taking another slow, deep breath and avoiding eye contact with Sutter, she started again. The intro came easier this time, and soon the words of the first verse slipped off of her tongue, "Something about your smile and your eyes of green; And telling me that you love me so sincerely; Should have seen it coming, should have known you were no good for me..."
Sutter: He waited for the start of the song, Sutter moving cautiously towards her and the piano she sat at. He could tell she was nervous, hell he would have been too, and he didn't want to startle her. His shoulders hunched up a little as he heard the sour notes hit his ears, his face screwing up as he winced slightly. He took a seat after that, taking up the space on the bench next to her. "You got this.." It was almost whispered, Sutter hoping he it wouldn't make her even more nervous but do the opposite and give her more confidence to start it. His smile grew, his own tension lessening as he heard the correct chords and her soft voice meeting his ears. It was a catchy little song, and he enjoyed her low alto as she continued. When the song was over, his smile had grown into a full blown grin. "That was pretty good actually...I don't know why you were so nervous. You wrote that yourself?"

Inspiration from other people. Huh. Easier said than done, right? Let me see if I have my book with me…ah. Here it is. Okay, well, there’s not much of a melody to go with it yet, either; I find it easier to work with words first. Just look at the first verse and the chorus? The second verse has to be tweaked a bit, too.
I don't know, maybe I'm just a silly romantic and all these fantasies pop into my head. It's not bad actually but I would switch those two lines around...but that's just me...you don't have to, that was rude, sorry. The chorus is very nice though, I like that a lot.

That’s totally fine, but how do you get the inspiration, then? I’ve been trying to write this one song for ages, but I can’t seem to get the bridge down.
I guess I pull the feelings from other people? Some friends at home like to tell me all about their romantic adventures and it gives me great ideas. Other than that I get pretty inspired by the great romance novelists...movies, tv...I don't know, I pull it from everywhere. Maybe I can help?

Oh, well thank you. That's very sweet of you. Yea, I wrote it but...it was't really about anyone. Maybe it'll be about someone later on in the future but right now it's just there...I can assign it to someone in the future, right?

Tennessee...not too far from Nashville but my town is a bit smaller...well more than a bit, really.
