────── y/n has been playing genshin with “Chris” who she met one day on the game. They’ve been voice chatting and playing together everyday. She’s an open book but chris.. she doesnt actually know anything about him.

It’s been a few days. Your phone is much more silent than usual. It isn’t gnawing at you anymore, just a silent wonder if you’ll get that happiness and comfort back.
You open genshin, out of habit.. or maybe because you miss him.

You close the game. Not bothering to play anyway.
You pick up when he calls, but not before hesitating a bit.. it feels different.
“Hi..” you say quietly
“Hey you.. it’s been awhile”
“Yeah..”
The tension is there.. no doubt. But after a bit, something funny happens, and you both end up laughing and after, the conversation feels like everything is okay again.
You play for hours, just like you used to. The tension has now eased into a familiar comfort you both recognize.
The friendship is still there, it’s not lost- it never was.. it’s just.. different now..
But in the end, it’s still you and Chris playing like always.
After hours of playing, it comes to the goodnights and promises to call soon again, and keep talking.
Before you can hang up Chris interrupts.
“Hey- can I tell you something quickly?”
“Yeah.. sure”
You wait for him to continue
“You know.. when I first joined you I never thought it would end up like this”
“…”
“But then suddenly, one coincidental game turned into every night.”
He lets out a long sigh, as if he’s been holding it all in for a while.
“And the longer we talked, the harder it became to tell you who I really was.. I was scared that if you knew, I’d lose being Chris to you.”
You stay quiet for a bit before saying
“But you didn’t.. you’re always gonna be Chris to me.”
The call ends. You both understand eachother, and it’s difficult but all ur worry has eased a bit after this call. It’s what you needed..
You’ve turned off the game, and just as you’re about to go to bed, your phone lights up with a message. From Chris
“I’m still in your city for a couple days”
You smile, settling into bed and opening you and Chris’ texts up in your phone. You wont answer yet.. maybe tomorrow. Unsure of how to approach that text. But it’s definitely an invitation to meet.. right..?
