These are just some of the designers I think will have a big influence on Zara this season. All of these brands (Chloe, Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham and Burberry Prorsum) have a similar style to Zara when it comes to formal womens wear, and this is the direction I want the project to go.
Looking at current fashion weeks, I have Noticed some trends that have run though fashion week from New York to Paris. I have noticed a lot of prints, leather, fur and feather trimmings. and most of the outfits have a monochrome colour pallet.
I got a friend of mine to try my skirt on to see how it would look on a person.
After finishing my pattern I made a sample of my skirt to get a feel of how it will look like. After doing this i have decided to move some of my darts and to make my skirt a longer length.
Today i just played around with a few ideas of what types of skirts i would like to make, keeping in mind current trends and my Zara customer. I really like the ones in Purple fabric and i might develop these further.
While in Zara today i took pictures of what types of skirts that they have in at the moment. i got a feeling that a lot of the skirts are formal, most of them had some sort of print on them or they were leather. Prints and Leather were both big trends on the 2013/14 fashion weeks, so this if something I should look into further.
I visited a Zara store in London today and i just took photo's of how they display there clothing to get a feel of what there best sellers might be at the moment. Looking at the layout of the store and the windows also gave me a sense of what styles they have in store.
this is the working drawing for my final design of my ECO project. i did these using both illustrator and Photoshop. these are just drafts, because I am still working on them.
This is the mood board I have started for my ECO CAD project. the concept is melted plastics, but i do not like how bright it is so i might change it black and white.
today we started our ECO CAD project, and this is the start of my illustration i did using Photoshop to add colour to my illustration.
These are some of my designs based on the melted plastics idea, i have started to think about how it would come together as a garment and how to make melted plastics wearable.
Sticking with the melted plastics idea, I then melted some plastic over the top of each other.
With my Eco project i moved on to experimenting with melted plastics, i quite like the effect bubble wrap gives when you stuff it with fabrics and iron it.
In Cathy's Lesson this week we experimented with different types of pockets.
After looking at fabrics i thought why not make clothing from everyday materials like paper, plastic or even metal. With this idea I started to experiment with Paper and card. i did this by Folding, Painting and sewing on top of paper.
From the research I have found, I drew some designs, to generate ideas about what some of the garments would look like and what Eco fabric i would use if I made them.
