Hi! This is super late as the games been out for almost 3 years now but, I wanted to bring this up in regards to Suzy and Susie's possible relation

Susie says this in the puzzle segment of queens mansion, to me it always felt like a subtle revelation that Susie has a sister, cus why would she specify 'sister' if she generally just meant someone you care about?

And knowing catty and catti are sisters in deltarune, it feels like a hint

Anyways you probably already know about this and thought of it before lmfao, so feel free to ignore this ask^^

hiii!! i think someone asked me about this before but i don't remember. it's definitely possible this dialogue is hinting at susie having a sister. and if she has a sister it's definitely suzy, right??

i've also seen people speculate this line is foreshadowing whatever's going on with dess (since dragon blazers is already associated with noelle). or something else entirely? who knows. i think it's probably hinting at something because it's so random and specific lol. or it might just be a reference to something.

personally i don't think suzy is susie's sister, mostly because it seems like either susie's home life is really awful or she doesn't have a home at all. and from what we've seen of susie, it feels odd to me that she'd have a little sister and leave her alone either on the streets or in an abusive home while she goes off into the dark worlds with kris. but we don't have many details on susie's life and her backstory, so there might be some crucial element we're missing here. (and i'm just assuming susie would be the big sister... i mean that just seems correct lol)

You have to remember the Japanese translation is well, for the Japanese audience. If it was Gaster I don't think it would make sense to hint at that with a similar typing style in English while not hinting at it whatsoever in Japanese. The translation should ideally be conveying the same information to both audiences. After all, if it was just him speaking more casually, wouldn't the english text not be in all caps to match?

Also, Ralsei says DELTA RUNE too. "This is the legend of DELTA RUNE." Notable too that both times Gaster said it on twitter it was DELTARUNE, one word, while Ralsei and this mystery guy both say DELTA RUNE, two words. I think DELTARUNE is the game and DELTA RUNE is... The story? The legend? Something ingame yet to be seen?

that is a good point and i do wonder why it isn't written like gaster's text normally is in japanese. i'm not really fluent enough to say if the speech patterns match, either.

from what i've seen on twitter, the japanese fans do seem to think it's gaster, too, so whether there's a similar speech pattern also present in the japanese version that i can't pick up on, or if they just got the info from the english version, or even if just the mysteriousness of the letter is enough to make them think that, the information is being conveyed somehow...

i wouldn't be super surprised if the valentine-guy turned out to be someone completely different, but i do think it would be odd to make a mysterious valentine with a very similar speaking pattern to gaster, plus several references to gaster, and have it not be at least some form of gaster, yknow?

as for the second point, i was specifically talking about the phrase "delta rune" referring to the real-life Video Game DELTARUNE, like in a meta context. ralsei references "the legend of DELTA RUNE" as an in-universe prophecy, but gaster and valentine-guy are referring to the actual game itself - note that valentine-guy immediately after says there was "a rumor of valentines day", which i interpreted as talking about fans speculating about the release date of chapter 3/4.

also, in the japanese version of the valentine it is actually written as "DELTARUNE" and not "DELTA RUNE", so i don't think the distinction is meaningful in this case!

people have been saying the mystery valentine isn't Gaster because the Japanese version is translated into hiragana + casual Japanese instead of the all-katakana + extremely formal Japanese that gaster usually speaks with in jp BUT .. here is why it is Gaster anyway, Actually

meta reference to Deltarune, The Game, which is something that only Gaster has done previously

comment about us "waiting patiently" (specifically in the context of deltarune) similar to the previous gaster posts on the undertale twitter account

"will you help me?" and "i will be counting on you." also very reminiscent of how gaster has talked to us before

the letter being "more or less completely illegible"

possible reference to error/placeholder text "You've come again to this wonderful place. Now tear off the mask beneath your face!"

as for why he's speaking informally it could just be because it's, well, a valentine's letter. every other example we have of gaster's speech, it's in a very serious/formal situation, but this is much more friendly and casual. basically he is just being silly, OK??

I’m wording this ask so terribly sorry.

So you know sans like the back of your hand and can pinpoint inaccurate portrayals of him but is it like that for the other members of the main cast too? Are there any characters you don’t really get in that way?

the funny thing is, as much as people think of me as a sans understander, the other members of the cast being more self-contained and confined to the narrative makes them a lot easier to puzzle out and put into context. undyne, alphys, asgore, toriel and flowey specifically. their roles are so crucial and defined by undertale's story that they almost work like the gears of a well oiled machine. not only are they characters in and of themselves, but with their backgrounds being available to the player and not left to speculation, every aspect of their personality become integral to What Happens In The Story as well.

when you take sans, on the other hand, his character is still so shrouded in lore and mystery that i do NOT doubt i'm also getting a fair bit of him wrong. he's an unknowable motherfucker. i can study his voice, what we know of him, and draw patterns in his behavior all i want, but at the end of the day there's still a good chunk of context to his character that is necessarily left to speculation. of course, we do have a LOT of lore for his character, and what that lore says seems... pretty direct, at least in terms of character goals and personality (he lost some people/somewhere important to him, he tried so hard to go home, he failed. he knows about the anomaly and it basically caused an existential crisis, however his first instinct was still to empathize with it. he takes everything life throws at him in stride because he doesn't believe in a happy ending anymore. he'll hold onto anything that proves him wrong)

you know who doesn't give you anything at all though?

FUCKING. PAPYRUS.

i do NOT get that guy. honest to god. sure, i can analyze his voice all the same, his personality and actions within the story, but papyrus is just as much of a lore mystery as his brother. with papyrus though? we get NOTHING. nada! he has the most lines out of any character and they tell you nothing about him. worse than that, what little info we get about sans' life "before" has almost no repercussions on papyrus whatsoever. homesickness who? scientific background who? knowledge of the anomaly who? sure, he's surprisingly strong and really passionate about puzzle construction. you can read into those aspects, but it's not anything that ties into any of sans' deal. which makes no sense because they're brothers, they got here together! why isn't sans' obvious baggage over his past something that connects them? at this point the only thing that makes sense to me is him being an amnesiac. which ig could tie into the whole "don't forget" motif. idfk man.

but like. that being said i can still more or less track the way he behaves around the other characters, the way he relates to them, his conflicts within undertale's main story etc. that's normal story analysis and pattern recognition. he's just... a bit trickier to puzzle out than the rest of the cast. goddamn him.
