“Ada, tell me...” She said while she drank her tea, “Did you miss me?”
“Of course, my sun and stars.”
“Naneth, did you mourn?”
“I didn’t think I could stop.”
“I was gone for eleven years.”
“Darling, please, do not stress yourself--”
“I’m quite calm, actually.” A pause. “Did you pray? When I was born, and when I was taken?”
“Ila...” They did.
“I laid next to darkness day and night. Under starlight, I damaged my throat with my cries.” There was a rough, rasping sound in her voice, her tone a warning snarl.
Her mother looked at the floor with guilt in her eyes, her father looked on with the cruel knowledge that he couldn’t save her.
“I waited for eleven years.” Her rasp dragged along the silence in the room like a doctor’s knife through skin--smooth, dignified, revealing the tattered innards inside of her. “I prayed for three of them.”
Ilaera offered him a wider smile at the mention of his father, “I can’t imagine the insight that sort of upbringing warrants.” Neither of her parents were much for law, both teachers, her mother a high school teacher, her father a music theory professor. She had plenty of appreciation for music, sure, but when it came to debate and the human psyche, there was no contest.
She crossed her legs while leaning onto the bar-stool with her arm, present company denying the option of scrambling her five-foot two ass up just to sit on a bar stool. She wore a dusk-purple sundress, black lace lining the sweetheart bust and forming long sleeves down her arms, her black pointed toe flats offering nothing in regards to her height. She was wearing a dress, so she wasn’t about to risk flashing the entire damn bar just for a seat.
When he said he thought he saw her from somewhere, part of her was confused. She was just a student, why would he pay attention to her? In the courtroom, most people gave journalists either a passing thought or they were an afterthought, which made sense. The other part was wondering when did he notice her? All she does is write and analyze in the courtroom, not really things that attracted attention to herself. Maybe he was a journalist before he was a lawyer, and that’s why he noticed the journalists?
“Oh, sorry. My name is Ilaera Mulherin, I’m currently studying investigative journalism.” She held a hand out for him to shake.
“ Ah, it’s not as bad as people believe it to be. ” His father was a single parents, his mother dying early on in his life. There were days he didn’t get to see his father until late at night when he heard him coming in late. Or didn’t see him until morning. Nevertheless, he still followed in his footsteps and soon he was getting to see his father a lot more because he was doing what he was doing for a living. Upon hearing her name and what she did, he nodded, a softer smile pulling onto his lips. He knew exactly where he had seen her. Most people, even himself really did not give journalist the attention in the court room for they had to focus on the case before them and fight to win. Though for him and some other, including his own father, they always looked and seen who was off to the side who was taking notes and such to the side. He had done a few things like that when he was young and in school but he has sat in enough court rooms to not have to go through with it. “ You were at the recent court room hearing for the Belmont case weren’t you? ” He stated taking a hold of the woman’s hand, giving a squeeze and shake before letting her hand go. “ It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Mulherin. ”
She nodded in genuine surprise, her smile turning shy, “Yeah, I was there. I’m a little surprised you saw us at all, to be honest.” It was very His hand dwarfed hers as she returned the gesture. She took a soft sip before adding, “That case was one of my first ones.” She nodded while meeting his eyes in a look of appreciation.
Placing her cup down on the bar—while feeling like a child because the top was almost a reach for her, standing at 5”2—and chuckled lightly, “You can call me Ilaera.” Sputtering, her back straightened, “If you’re alright with that, I mean.” Just like that, she could feel sheepishness tickle her, her fingers returning to fiddle with their sleeves lightly.

okay I literally just saw someone else post about this while I was thinking of saying something so I’m gonna make a full post
hey friends!! there’s lots of terms I use in my rules that are all parts of rp etiquette, but lemme talk about one that not everyone may be familiar with: reblog karma. for those of you who don’t know what that word means, it’s pretty simple: you want to reblog a meme from someone? then send something to them first.
it’s sort of like… an rp pay-it-forward. now, let me clarify something: saying people must practice reblog karma with you is abusing the term. that’s like the opposite of paying it forward, okay? you can’t tell people that they have to pay it forward to you. but if you want it to happen to you, you should always set a good example by practicing it yourself.
have you ever found an rp meme from a meme source, gotten excited about it, only to have 5ish people reblog it from you and they start getting stuff, while you get nothing yourself? that feels awful! so, if you know how it feels, start enforcing reblog karma in your own behavior, spread the word about positive reblog karma (paying it forward!) and send memes to as many people as you can manage, whether or not you are going to reblog it from them!
now, here’s some questions I always hear:
1. but what if it’s a meme for an established relationship or awkward with my character, and I don’t have any background with their character? you have two options, then. a) send the meme on anon, if possible, or b) don’t reblog it from that person. either go to the meme source if it is still available, or send a bit of it to someone else who has reblogged it that you do have an established relationship with, and then reblog it from that person.
2. doesn’t that put a lot of unnecessary anxiety on others? that’s why you need to look at it as a modification of your own behavior, not anything you can do about anyone else’s. ask politely that people please practice reblog karma with you whenever possible, and always make sure to set a model by practicing it yourself. if it makes you too anxious to send a meme to someone, refer back to the solutions on question 1.
3. what if it’s a non-mutual, and they don’t accept memes from non-mutuals? again, look at solutions a) and b) under question 1. if it’s a symbol meme, like one where you send in a sign for different headcanon prompts—almost always, people are willing to do it whether or not you’re mutuals, whether or not you’re on or off anon.
4. but sometimes I’m uncomfortable sending stuff like that. and people who reblog memes and get nothing in response, only to have plenty of others reblog it from them, feel pretty awful when that happens. most people will refer to this as “being treated like a meme source”, and that’s what it genuinely feels like!! reblog karma should never be used as a strict rule: it should be used to spread positivity and community engagement. go above and beyond for reblog karma: if you really like a meme, send it to multiple people who have reblogged it.
getting engaged. communicating with others. having fun. that’s what memes are all about in the first place!!
i mean, i don’t mind if someone doesn’t respond when i insert a meme bc eh, it happens. sure it sucks, but i’m alright. doesn’t really change the fact that i like that rper. that, and this sorta ties into the fact that i inherently know that my character probably won’t rp with another muse v well.
why? it can be a lot of things. the first thing is the verse, like idk how it would work out. for example, currently i am following a lot of free!rpers bc i’m free!trash used to rp with them, and i love the muns. i, as of now, wouldn’t mind rping with them AT ALL but i don’t wanna put the stress of figuring out a verse to make our rp work on them. when i figure it out, i’ll start interacting with them character wise.
the second thing is... if i’m being honest? the word selective kinda intimidates me. idk if it’s bc i’m super insecure but as soon as i read “selective” i’m like “not me”. i mean if they wanna approach me first then you’ll be able to feel my “yyyyyESSSSSSSSSSSSS” from miles away. after rping on tumblr for four+ years, i’m kinda used to feeling this way.
the third thing is just general basic “they wouldn’t get along/she’d die”, but i might message you telling you i love your rps no matter what

ello there, darlings. y’all might see me mark somethings as v![something], and you’re all, “lissy wtf is if kili is tagged v!vivere, and i’m[bard] v!vivere, tf does that mean???” don’t worry, i hear you. i feel u. i got u.
v!legendarium | Main verse, see bio.
v!vivere | Kili, Fili and Thorin live.
v!modern [...] | Honestly, I still can’t decide which modern job Ila has. It’s a toss between investigative journalism and being a nurse. But I do know that she was a foster child, and is currently in her third year in college.
v!modern invjourn | This comes from Ilaera’s attention to detail and her curiosity as to why this happens, what caused it, ergo she enrolled an investigative journalism program. She sits in courtrooms and analyzes cases and both defendents and plaintiffs.
v!modern nurse | This comes from the fact that in the Legendarium verse, she aims to be a healer, so it made sense to make her a nurse.

As he looked at her a little more, he only than realised he had seen her around. Perhaps it was at the offices or at the court house for his recent cases he had to be there to help with. The glass was put on the counter, still trying to think of where he seen her. Maybe he will ask. When she spoke her compliment, he smiled, even let out a small chuckle as he nodded. “ Ah, that’s really nice of you to say. I do try my best. ” It wasn’t often he got compliments on his work, just the usual ‘good job’s after he finished a job and he won. It was nice to hear him people still admired his work and appreciated his talent. She seemed young and had that aura around her that made her smarter than most. Picking up his drink once more, Roman took a small sip, gaze staying down at the liquid for a moment before looking back at her. “ With doing this since high school, I have learned how to do a few things but I can’t take all the credit. My father Oropher has been in the business since he was young and I taught what I know from him. ” Which was not a lie. He started to learn everything from his father and soon was learning his own way around things. “ What is it you do, miss? I think I have seen you around before. ”
Ilaera offered him a wider smile at the mention of his father, “I can’t imagine the insight that sort of upbringing warrants.” Neither of her parents were much for law, both teachers, her mother a high school teacher, her father a music theory professor. Man of the moment on mancandykings: » Idris “Idrissa Akuna” Elba
“[on his role in Star Trek Beyond (2016)] I play Krall. This is a man with a definite purpose. I say a man, but he’s not a man. Or is he? What’s interesting about him is that he has a real beef with what the Enterprise stands for. Krall’s a character who’s deeply steeped in hatred - in my opinion, a well-earned hatred - for the Federation. It felt quite political. There’s a relatability to what’s happening in our world. Not everybody’s happy with what everybody calls the good guys.”
