Elf Kid - Lewisham - Photo by Simon Wheatley
Honouring the preview of Simon Wheatley’s new film ‘Golden Boys’ which follows Elf Kid and The Square, Simon has contributed three images to Wot Do You Call It.
Here we see Elf Kid at home in the minutes after the release of his single Golden Boy, observing the initial reactions. You can read Simon’s interview and purchase tickets to to the preview here.
A selection of logos for my branding
The top logo is the version that I have chosen to use for this project. Having all of them lined up next to each other has leant perspective to me. And upon reflection now, though I would have liked to have had the all red version as my logo instead of the one I originally chose.
Final Website design with alternate colour options
I currently have my website colour as red but I also trialled it with white to see what that would look like too, and I do prefer it being red after trying white as well. I was going to see what it looked like in black too, but unfortunately the page buttons for all my photography sections and my about and contact wouldn't change colour so I abandoned the idea (I blame the theme for being rather clunky to use and not having many editing options). I also made another logo for the red the only issues being it is too big, so squishes the about and contact buttons, and also the shade of red is different to my websites current colour.
Website Development
Quick post showcasing the development of my website up to its most recent version. There is still much to do before it is complete, but I am really happy so far with how it is coming along.
Vfiles
Source: Grazia
’VFiles started life as an online cultural network and small boutique store in New York’s Soho. Founded by Australian native and former V Magazine exec editor, Julie Anne Quay, the VFiles.com site attracts millions upon millions of hits a month. It taps into a generation obsessed with streetwear, sportswear, rare and limited edition buys. Once upon a time subculture’s dress codes were kept well out of the mainstream but VFiles now brings them to the masses without denting it’s own credibility thanks to savvy buys and constantly looking forward’.
I found out about Vfiles purely by coincidence when researching for examples of youth culture magazines/blogs. It's basically a Linkedin made for creatives. You can message other users about their Vfiles as well as follow them to keep up to date with what they post and share. There are also a lot of famous fashion and arts figures with accounts on Vfiles. Notable names such as Virgil Abloh the visionary behind fashion brand OFF WHITE and also lead designer for Louis Vuitton mens collection, casting director Kevin Amato and Vfiles founder Julie Anne Quay just to name a few.
Zine Collages
These are collages that I have made using photos that I took for my zine. I want to have the photos laid out like this on the actual pages. I like this way of showing my photos a lot because it's more interesting than the standard way of laying out photos in a zine and also means that I can show more than just one image on each page in a creative and inovative way.
My New website Design
Above are Screen captures of my current website and the new one that I am designing on Wordpress. My design influences for the new website are Supreme, 032c and photographer Tyrone Lebons website layout.
Instead of keeping to the typical colour pallet of white and black with minimal themes accompanying these two colours, I am using my favourite colour red for the main colour for my new website.
My lecturer Ellen said that my photos are dramatic, so I have carried hat theme of drama over to my website and blog by using strong vibrant colours like red, slime green and purple.
