Pathetic podcast protagonist is such a male dominated industry

Petition for more women to be pathetic podcast protagonists. Like yes queen, experience the horrors

it is only male dominated if that's all you're listening to !! there are plenty of women who are podcast protagonists, experiencing varying degrees of the horrors (from exactly none to pretty much all of them at once) and in fact a majority of the most iconic podcasts of the modern audio drama age (beginning mostly around the mid-2010s) heavily feature fascinating flawed multi-faceted women !! some of whom are indeed pathetic !!! this bias is a much more recent phenomenon and is not as deeply ingrained as you might be led to believe

plus plenty of people on this site imploring you to listen to more of them, & plenty more still who are eager and willing to recommend & highlight women-led shows, like here or here or here or even here

just from the notes on this post alone + a very quick scan of my own podcast library i was able to v quickly put together a podchaser list which i will link here in just a second but i am begging you + anyone else reading this to please at the very least google "female-led fiction podcasts" before making sweeping statements like this about audio drama as a whole when what you actually mean is that you personally haven't heard as many. you can actually fix that quite easily by listening to more of them because there are so many already available to you.

i can only make so many lists. at a certain point it is just up to you the listener to actually diversify your listening habits
