Godzilla doesn't have a lot of friends left. Hell, Godzilla doesn't have much left at all. Should one be so foolish as to try and take what he DOES have, well... They should just hope that it's over quickly.

- TRASH BLESSINGS -
A series of pieces based off of common urban fauna with the aim of reminding people of traits in them we could all do well emulating sometimes, and celebrating the ability of nature to carve out a place in any environment.

I love the moon because it reminds me that this world is defined by perpetual change, that there will always be a light in the dark & that even in the middle of nowhere, in the dead of night, you are never truly alone.
Looking up at that beautiful radiant being gives me hope in a time when many of mother earth’s children try to destroy it. The biggest illusion of our time is that everyone seems hell-bent on keeping our physical bodies safe - while knowingly endangering our spiritual well-being.
The thing is that each and every human being is equal parts physical body and spirit/mind. You can’t protect one by neglecting the other. If anything, we try to enhance one at the other’s expense.
What I am trying to say is that self-care has become a survival thing by now.
I find solace in following my spiritual path, in going out there. I mean out there. Into the wild, the woods, local ancient places that have an incredibly powerful spiritual energy. You know, the connection most societies have severed for the sake of “civilisation”.
Look for the element you feel most connected with or bring it with you. Focus on those flames, waves, stones or the way the wind dances with the leaves. Look at the shadows, look at the light. Feel that heat, cool water, crumbly earth or refreshing air draught on your skin. Focus solely on the sights, smells and sounds you perceive in the now and breathe. Breathe consciously, in- & exhale deeply, let go of pent-up negativity and breathe like your life depends on it - because it does, even beyond the physical realm.
Feel your mind become clearer, your racing thoughts become slower. You may notice that even your heart rate and breathing adjust to the new calm. If you live a stressful life, this will feel a bit scary at first, but it’s worth it.
Let go of everything that troubles you: every regret you still carry with you, all the hurt and anger and sadness. Let go of feeling lost and go looking for yourself again. Because everything we need to heal in a time of turmoil is something we already have within ourselves. Stop looking for comfort in physical things and start reconnecting with that one tiny spark of energy that is strong enough to keep you going in the first place.
Take all the time you need until you feel connected with the universe again. Accept that in order to feel complete, parts of you will have to be here AND there. In this moment, allow yourself to just be.
That moment won’t last forever, but neither will all the bad things happening right now. We share our time with them, they shape us, but they will never define us as long as our unique spark of energy is stronger than life’s challenges.
When I need to reconnect with my spiritual roots, I go outside to soak up as much lunar energy as I can. I love the moon because it reminds me that this world is defined by perpetual change and it is wise to accept it. I love the moon because it reminds that there will always be a light in the dark and that no bad thing must ever get bigger than your will to stay alive. I love the moon because it reminds me that even in the middle of nowhere, in the dead of night, I am never truly alone & that is the most powerful knowledge I have in this time of isolation.
Everyday magic is the simple things done with good intentions & mindfulness.
6 tips for being more mindful
1) Gratitude: Each morning, as soon as you open your eyes, say a little prayer of gratitude.
2) Eating: Before each meal, say thank you to the food for nourishing your body & get some perspective.
3) Cleaning: Practice deep breathing while you clean up
4) Mindful Dressing: As you get ready each day, thank you body for all it does for you. Go through each body part.
5) Cooking: When you cook, notice the colours, smells and textures. Cook with love.
6) Mindful walking: Walk as if you are pushing peace back into the Earth.
