This trio was formed during the production and filming process of the K-drama "Weak Hero Class". Kye received her first acting gig, taking on the role of Yeongi, a courageous runaway who got involved in a dangerous gang of delinquents. Their friendship was noticed during interviews where they all referred to each other with first names orpersonal nicknames. The boys were seen to call Kye a few different variations of her birthname, Mi-Kyeong, Mimi or Ki. Unfortunately Kye's character was not involved in season 2, so their friendship shifted to be primarily online. They do keep up to date with each other's lives and projects though, often posting in support of the others.

How their trio name came to be: The chemistry between the characters

Their trio name #Youme&steve is an online reference to the meme "Just me, you and your friend Steve". Fans freaked out over the onscreen chemistry between Jihoon & Hyunwook, shipping their characters. Kye's character is bold, and not shy with men, becoming close friends with their characters, and even living with Hyunwook's character, Suho. Their dynamic reminded fans of the meme, resulting in it being one of the names for the trio even to this day.

Seventeen and Monsta X are well known to be friends with one another after debuting in the same month, and sharing a lot of schedules. While Kye is friendly with all members, the one fans often highlight is her dynamic with Kihyun. They are both producers and write lyrics which definitely helped them become close, but they have also been known to eat together with Kihyun cooking for the two occasionally.

How their trio name came to be: Fans consider them both cuties

Kihyun and Kye are both nicknamed cuties by some of their fans, resulting in their individual duo name. Kye is the youngest and Kihyun is said to sometimes act like the youngest. However, Monteen in general is more common to see on any of their interactions due to the general closeness between the two groups.

BoyNextDoor became close to Kye after she made an effort to go out of her way and look after them after their debut. She knows what it is like to debut young and seeing them brought back these memories. She wanted to ensure they were fed and well-rested, so took it upon herself to check after they became part of Hybe. They eventually started to follow her around and ask for advice whenever possible.

How their group name came to be: BND following Kye like ducklings

The reference of ducklings come from the fact that the bnd members can often be spotted following and trailing after Kye during shared events or their free time. Seventeen found it funny and basically joked that she had adopted them, being their duckling mother in a sense. The joke was shared to fans by Woonhak when the group was given the opportunity to talk about idols they admire, and went on a tangent about how amazing Kye was.

Skz's vocalracha and Kye are a fan favourite cross-group friendship. The trio is known to get up to lots of chaos and often tease one another as well as their other members. They've once did a shared live without informing their groups, giving the members a big shock when they found out. Kye often asks Jeongin for fashion advice and its noticeable that she started to develop a more unique and personal style after they became friends. On the other hand, Seungmin and Kye are a more subtle friendship, while they playfully banter often, they have a strong bond and trust the other to look after them.

How their group name came to be: The chaos caused by them as a trio

Their name was coined after the shared live, which Scoups and Chan later went on to expose was not cleared with them, and they actually had no clue until they saw it trending online. This is just one of the chaotic things the trio has done together, and other videos of their interactions have shown that it isn't abnormal for them.

Soobin and Kye are both members of groups under Hybe and they have interacted with each other as a result. They became closer during the Hybe Game Caterers event where multiple idols got to participate. The two were an unexpected duo that fans hadn't considered before but loved watching in the videos.

Where the duo name came from: Both idols tripping & being clumsy

Both Soobin and Kye are known be idols that often cause accidents by being clumsy. After their friendship went viral during the Hybe Game Caterers, fans created compilations of the duo's moments where they are tripping and causing similar accidents. Fans felt they were very similar to one another in this sense.

Yoongi & Kye are both well known to help produce their respective group's music along others. Those groups both being under Hybe, they interacted occasionally while at work. However, the two became closer after Yoongi found Kye's lyric book that she had lost and read it, being interested in finding out whose it was. They started working together shortly afterwards, trusting the other with their solo projects and getting advice/support from the other. While there is a decent age gap, Yoongi treats Kye as his equal and they refer to each other as siblings.

Where the duo name came from: Never leaving the recording studio

Their friendship wasn't public for a while, as it wasn't for show, just being something for them. It wasn't until some of the seventeen members accidentally shared on live that Kye was always either in the studio with Woozi or in the studio with Yoongi when asked where she was at that moment. Fans instantly became interested and wanted to learn more, so the two ended up sharing some aspects of their friendship.

Eric and Kye are both 00 babies and developed a friendship across various comeback performances. They were cordial with one another at first, but truly became closer after Kye developed a relationship with Sunwoo. They spent more time together in group settings, eventually becoming close and is one of Kye's strongest friendships outside her group. They have a shared understanding around being the youngest and pressure that can come with it.

Where the duo name comes from: Their duo photoshoot

Eric and Kye were approached to do a duo photoshoot together after their friendship became more known to the industry. They ended up modelling styled denim outfits together. Some photos came out with a slightly raunchy and exposed look, making fans lose their minds when they saw them together. Their chemistry was said to be unmatched, sparking some dating rumours, although neither Kye or Eric gave them any attention.

Jongho and Kye met during the creation of the OST for "Our Blooming Youth" in 2022. Kye being one of the main composers and lyricists was tasked to find a singer who she believed would be able to accurately convey the necessary emotions. She picked out Jongho quickly based on past performances she had seen, and invited him to practice. They worked well during the recording process and created a stunning OST that was nominated for best original soundtrack.

Where the duo name comes from: The video of them recording the OST

The duo name is a reference to the recording booth where they first interacted, and Kye got to hear Jongho performing the OST. Recording Duo references Kye being the producer doing the recording and Jongho being the singer being recorded.

Kye and Seungcheol

#KyeCheol

Kye and Seungcheol are known for having a father-daughter dynamic. With them being the oldest and youngest in Seventeen, they have the largest age gap of 5 years, which when they were 13 & 18 respectively seemed huge. Seungcheol could see how nervous and unsure of things Kye was when she first joined, and did his best to reassure her as much as possible. Even now they are both older, Scoups still looks after Kye whenever he can, and worries the most about her. He truly is a second father to her.

Wonwoo and Kye

Wonwoo and Kye aren't one of the most obvious duos in the group, but that doesn't mean they aren't close. Both of them are introverts at heart and can often prefer the quiet and solo activities. Their friendship blossoms when they can just exist in each other's company without having to perfom. Late nights and slow walks are often times they share together.

Mi-Kyeong (Kye) and Mingyu

Kye and Mingyu are each other's personal photographers. Kye is known to be artistic and Mingyu utilises this often to try and capture photos of his travels and outfits. It isn't a one-sided dynamic though, Mingyu is more than willing to capture photos for Kye whenever she wants and often captures some of the fan's favourites of Kye without her being aware. They both like to give each other feedback and support the other in their choices.

Kye and Vernon

Kye and Vernon are known as the film lover duo. They often are seen going to cinemas with one another to watch the latest films. Vernon likes to view them from a director's view while Kye has a more artistic eye. It makes them a duo that compliments one another perfectly as they can share their own perspective leading to a strong duo in projects they may tackle together.

Kye and Jeonghan

Kye and Jeonghan have been considered a sibling duo from the start. As there is a 5 year age gap between the two, and Kye was only 13 when she first joined as a trainee, Jeonghan took her under his wing and became an older brother figure. This doesn't mean she is exempt from his teasing and pranks, actually you could almost say she is targeted more. However, don't let her initial shyness fool you, she gives back as good as she gets. Playful teasing and fighting is common between them, but at the end of the day they would go to war for one another.

Mi-Kyeong (Kye) and Joshua

Kye and Joshua is another dynamic often seen as siblings. Joshua, like Jeonghan, made sure to always look out for the youngest and only female in their group. They easily became comfortable with one another and consider each other family, even going as far to spend time with the other's parents as well. They can get up to chaos and mischief together when in the mood for it, often seen in Going Seventeen videos and overall have a relationship fans love to see.

Kye and Woozi

Kye and Woozi are one of the most well-known duos in Seventeen, mainly due to the fact that they are both heavily involved in the music production side. Upon first entering the company, Kye was scared and afraid about how her joining would be viewed. She desperately wanted to prove her worth and admired Woozi for being able to create music. Both in an effort to learn more and get close to him, Kye became his apprentice & supporter, learning and eventually contributing on her own to the lyric writing and production stages. They now work together as equals and have built a strong bond of mutual understanding, admiration and slight attraction.

Kye and Seokmin (DK)

Kye and DK are seen as the sun and moon dynamic (or golden retriever & black cat). DK is known as the group's sunshine, being supportive and constantly smiling. While Kye is known to be more subtle in her efforts, she is shyer and more hesitant to stand out like the moon. However, once you get to know her and pay attention, you see how she shines. This duo isn't one that initially catches people's eyes, but their differences are what makes them good together. They balance each other out perfectly.

Seungkwan and Kye

Seungkwan and Kye have a relationship filled with playful banter and teasing. They often get into little fights or arguments that entertain all those around them. Their dynamic is sometimes misunderstood as them disliking each other or actually arguing, however, Seungkwan and Kye both genuinely care. Their friendship is what it is, because they feel comfortable around one another. They wouldn't be KwanKye without it.

Kye and Jun

Jun and Kye are each other's biggest fans, always looking out for one another and being there when needed. Kye having spent time growing up in China, is fluent in Mandarin and the two of them were always able to communicate without any language barrier. This started their friendship, which quickly blossomed over time into a friendship like no other. They are often called platonic soulmates by fans and the other members.

Hoshi and Kye

Hoshi is known to be chaotic and very hyper especially during activities and games. While Kye isn't often considered to be wild, as her interests are often calmer and low-energy, she often is dragged into the chaos by her members. Hoshi is one of the members who has always been able to drag her out of the shadows and into the loudness. As Kye is the youngest, she is often able to escape consequences making her the perfect accomplice to any pranks or schemes Hoshi may want to pull.

Minghao (The8) and Mi-Kyeong (Kye)

Minghao and Kye are often referred to as two peas in a pod. Due to Kye's mandarin skills, there was no language barrier and they bonded quickly as a result. They both were quick to privately share quiet jokes to one another in loud rooms. Kye looked up to Minghao at the beginning of their careers as a role model of sorts. This can sometimes be seen in how they react similarly to one another, as Kye learnt a lot from him. Sarcastic comments and quiet days together are their thing.

Mi-Kyeong (Kye) and Chan (Dino)

#Mi-Di / #K-D

The two maknaes of Seventeen, Kye and Dino, relied on one another about issues they were too nervous to share with the others. Worries, fears, and insecurities were whispered back and forth at the start; a habit that has continued to this day. They are a dynamic duo that knows the other has their back. When new sub-units started to emerge over the years, it was no surprise to anyone when these two made their own unit, K-D.
