my version of wind prefers they/it pronouns, but any pronouns are fine. i see them as plural and as rivulet's creator. wind is physically distant from LTTM and FP, so creature OCs from outside that region are especially welcome, along with ANY iterator broadcasts!

i imagine wind's facility grounds (and a few nearby iterators) are filled with bio-engineered creatures from various attempts at solution research/investigation! when not researching, they enjoy creature-watching and sharing photos with public lines!

in anon chats, wind's pseudonym is "Fleeting Obscurity." i'm open to featuring sliverist chats on this blog! however, please don't give your characters meta knowledge. FO is meant to be a hidden pseud, as wind takes great care to keep those circles separate. any plotlines with that reveal should be something we talk through first!

i also have two different "styles" i'll use; chats only, and descriptions included. i try to switch based on context (description when i have a single ask or my partner uses them, chats only to fit longer threads) but feel free to ask for a specific one!

They read the question... their voice goes flat.

"[CW] You're on your own for this one. " "[GW] Hey-! "

Chasing Wind has already gone quiet. Grey sighs. Why do they always do this.

"[GW] To answer your question... I suppose I do? Squimblo the when? Though I'm not sure what exactly that is... "

"[CW] That's my name. Almost. "

...what was the "m" supposed to mean? The world may never know.

Chasing Wind drags a hand down their arm when they get the question. Truth be told, they were wondering the same thing.

"[CW] In all likelihood, not much. I was hoping to send a close friend a message, but the network had other ideas. Arrays go down, relays hiccup... our equipment loves throwing tantrums at the worst possible moment. "

The mechanical arm re-positions with a low click, steadying the puppet as it leans to the side. Pensive, they glance away from the overseer's glow.

"[CW] Still, this wasn't a simple timeout. I've already come to expect those. This was a gap. "[CW] Odd... but not exactly alarming. You get used to this sort of thing. "

They were halfway through re-calibrating one of their communications arrays when the request came in.

It was plain upkeep, not particularly stimulating. Sending test pings, adjusting noise tolerance, repeating the process on autopilot. It should have been routine, but one signal stood out.

An improper root ID. No authentication. The kind of connection that raised every possible flag at once. They could always route through one of their own proxies... but if the sender turned out innocent, that would look just as damning. Possibly more.

"[CW] We're overthinking this. "

Nothing about the request implied malicious intent, and treating it that way would be as absurd as ignoring it outright. So just one precaution: a quick backup for their current project into a waiting pearl. Then, smoothing their voice, they answered.

"[CW] Hello there! Is this reaching you? You've caught me in the middle of my work - I do apologize for the delays. "

"[CW] Oh, so you've seen the little menace? I'm not surprised. "[CW] It's been in the works for some cycles now - more of a field trial than a full experiment, but one with fascinating results. "

Chasing Wind flicks their wrist. An overseer flickers into view, projecting a variety of schematics, behavioral logs, and half-legible transcripts on the chamber's walls.

"[CW] It's a joint effort between Unparalleled Innocence and myselves. We wondered whether it was possible to reintroduce wildlife to this region - it's been rather barren since the slugcat colonies migrated outward. I suspect most stopped near Looks To The Moon and her brother. "

The overseer enlarges a schematic of gill-like frills and powerful limbs, annotations darting in every direction. Chasing Wind gestures at it as their voice takes on a prideful note.

"[CW] I handled the physical adaptations - external gills, limb proportions, and all - while Innocence tackled the other half: its state of mind. They reminded me that strength alone wouldn't carry it far without curiosity, play, and the capacity to adapt. Their guidance kept it all from falling to the wayside, and I'll be the first to admit I'd never come up with half the tricks they suggested. "

The projection flicks to an image of Rivulet sprawled awkwardly, one leg sticking straight in the air. Chasing Wind's shoulders shake with silent laughter.

"[CW] ...Grace wasn't in the criteria, as you can see. "
