Dr. June Moone, Forensic Anthropologist. (a headcanon)
DCEU canon material for the timeline of June's life, education, and career is often conflicting (hello three different birthdays), and the discrepancies in her field of study and specialty are particularly obvious. According to Amanda Waller's file on June, she graduated high school early, at age 16 (born in 1987, that places her high school graduation in May of 2003). Because she finished high school at an accelerated pace, I've factored in 3 years for her bachelor's degree (giving her a graduation date of May 2006). She would need a minimum of 4 years to obtain her phD (2010-ish).
According to the same file, 2010 is when June first heard the voice of Enchantress calling to her, when she was on her first field expedition to support her thesis, meaning she had not graduated and would not be graduating for some time because she had just begun research for her doctoral thesis. The file also states that this field expedition was researching Chalcolithic Period ritual burial sites of the Southern Levant (that's Israel or maybe Jordan during the Copper Age, for reference).
The ARGUS website has June taking time off from school after that for fear of schizophrenia, and then Waller's file skips ahead to her graduation, saying that she begins her career specializing in the ritual worship of earth-mother figures in the pre-agrarian societies of South America. So, to recap, nothing to do with her actual existing research on Bronze Age Israel. So already we're way off map here in terms of having a consistent field of study.
Then, in 2015, Waller's file puts her in Peru collecting evidence to defend her theory that the transhumant foragers who occupied Pacific littoral settlements forayed into the valleys and highlands of the Andes to support broad subsistence economies (that is, whether nomadic shepherds went into the mountains). Nothing to do with religious worship. None of this tracks even remotely.
The only reason a single archeologist would be in such widely varied areas (both geographically and culturally) would be if her field of study were universal. For example, physical anthropology. This would explain why June was in burial sites in Israel for her doctoral research, and why her post-doctoral research would take her to Peru. It would even factor in subsistence economies in that she can use the study of human remains to document both nutritional and athletic information to refute or support the theory of their route.
As I've previously stated, because June is canonically located in DC, I have her academic affiliation with Georgetown University rather than with Gotham City or Metropolis, as neither of those universities would have the funding or clout in their anthropology departments to be funding field research overseas. I am keeping Georgetown as both the university where June did her doctoral work and also where she lectures occasionally as a part time professor.
However, being in DC presents a unique opportunity in that the Smithsonian Institute is also located in there, and has a longstanding relationship with physical anthropology and law enforcement. The Smithsonian has hired forensic anthropologists who have worked for many years with the FBI and other agencies to facilitate the solving of crimes that involve the analysis of human remains. Therefore, not only am I changing June's specialty to physical anthropology, but I'm also making her a forensic anthropologist in the employ of the Smithsonian Institute, putting her on a short list of consultants in her field utilized by the FBI.
