MAY 26TH, 1899. Today is the boy’s birthday, he turns 19 today according to his mama. God, 19 years old what an age. I remember when I was that age, granted I spent that time raising my sisters when our dear mama passed but that was such a long time ago. Honestly, with how old I am I’m surprised that I remember. Gotta think about what I gotta get the boy, Adelaide likes pretty things, so pocketing watches and fancy rings is easy but the boy… not so much. He’s got a particular interest in science. Maybe I could pay a visit to a scientist next time I’m out. See if I can grab some books and their fancy equipment. Maybe he’ll like that. His mama also said he’s seeking higher education as well, which I hope he does. Would be nice to see him and Adelaide go to one of those fancy universities, those kids are wicked smart and they sure as hell don’t get it from me. I feel bad too, honestly, I’m absent from both him and my girl but that’s how it’s gotta be. Can’t get too close with my certain condition. I know I won’t hurt them but I’m afraid about others of my kind finding them and hurting them instead. Vampires, I’ve learned, are fickle and petty, and they take great offense to others hunting in their territory. Something I’ve done that a handful of times. So whiny, god I almost can’t stand them. I was also warned about vampires rules and laws I was breaking too, but what this uptight society don’t know won’t hurt them. Getting hungry soon, gonna head into St. Denis. See what trouble I can get myself into.

March 18th, 1899 Started keeping a journal again. Think the last time I had one was around 1860? It must've been because I don't think I've kept one since I was still alive, which was almost forty years ago. Christ… Forty years. Time moves so fast now. I feel like I blink and the years go by just like that. The people I used to know in my mortal life are now old and gray. Or dead. Though, after sometime of being like this I've gotten used to it I suppose. Remaining the same while the world changes around me. Well almost everything. Blood overall tastes the same after the decades. Sure, people have their own unique taste but other than that most taste the same I found.

saint denis is nowhere near a peaceful place for the empath: overexerted by the sheer congestion of souls and the unbearable humid heat,    nothing like the icy tranquility of grizzlies east.    if it weren’t for her father’s presence in the mayor’s entourage,    she’d be anywhere but here,   hiding in plain sight in this saloon.    seeking clues as a recluse,    observing from the mezzanine the viced ton of the swamps.     ‘ i seek for no company tonight,    ’ she speaks without gracing @swampbite approaching her,    but it’s obvious from the sheer permanence of his spirit,    that as the night brings forth drunks,    it also brings forth ghouls.   

dark energy cannot ignore each other,    it seems. and although she’s unsure if he possess any comprehension of the vileness of her blood,    she feels his,    tainting the air even more than the stench of injury ascending from a fight broken down below.    it’s ironic,    their shirts might be fine linen,    but humans are incomprehensibly beastly all the same.    ‘ mind your distance,    skin is skin,    it punctures if punctured,    but i promise my taste is nothing but foul.    ’

The hum of energy buzzed in veins around him, the warm bodies that walked alongside him on the streets, completely unaware of his nature as they gave him passing glances and friendly waves. Gestures that the vampire returned back to them. This city was his hunting grounds for now, a change of scenery not by choice but necessity; but he'd soon return to the swamps he called home. All he had to do was just bid him time here and keep himself fed.

Although tonight was different, something in the air caught his curiosity and drew him to this particular saloon. The man follows it until he stumbles upon her, she looks human to him but it is the smell that is off. Still, he has no intentions of harming her, no the vampire had fed himself earlier. There was no need or want for anyone's else blood to be spilled tonight. "Ain't gotta worry 'bout nothin', miss." he comments, before joining her. "Ate before I came here."

Because his parents were both from Ireland, Gator and his sisters do have noticeable hints of Irish in their accents, although it's mostly a southern drawl you can still hear it when they speak certain words.
