Just getting back into the swing of things, needed me a lil Bucky one shot ♥ (Yes, I'm still delusional and believe that there is a world where civil war didn't happen and they all get along. I need any string of happiness to grasp in this economy babe.) Nondescript as I could get on Y/N for openness on pronouns.

Bucky finally gives in and tells Steve he will move into Tony's place with the Avengers. He gets in touch with Tony's assistant Y/N who is in charge of the household accommodations and thinks to himself he should have done this sooner.

"I'm glad you're finally coming around, Buck." Steve chuckles, running up a set of steps towards Tony's office. "I'll have Y/N reach out they'll get you all settled."
He hears Bucky over the phone give a slight sigh, "I don't need someone to get me settled I just need a spare room to throw my backpack of stuff into."
"Believe me, you'll need Y/N. They'll make the process of moving in way easier."
"Fine." He can hear his jaw set. "Talk to them soon, I'll be heading that way." He hangs up and Steve knocks on Tony's door.
"Yeah?" He hears from inside as he opens the door. "What do you need Cap?" Tony looks up and so does Y/N as they type out whatever Tony was rambling about beforehand.
"I kind of need Y/N. Buck is finally willing to move in." Steve slightly shakes his phone.
----------------
You smile and finish typing your sentence before sending Tony the attachment. "Attachment is sent, I will start working with Steve right away to get Bucky accommodated."
Tony pops another berry into his mouth, "Don't forget security protocols."
"I am well aware the standard metal detector won't work for him." You allow a slight smirk before moving towards Steve and exiting the office hearing a slight smirk from Tony as well behind you.
"So, when are we set to welcome the Winter Soldier in officially?"
Steve raises his eyebrows and bites his lip, giving you a slightly sorrowful look.
"It's immediately isn't it." You give him a deadpan look.
"Probably a half an hour, given his speeding."
You squint towards him, "You do realize that you'll owe me."
"Doesn't everyone in this building?" He gives you a soft smile and you sigh slightly, rolling your eyes and getting as much info from Steve as he had.
You go down to the front desk lobby and alert security as you call housekeeping and order a room cleaned out not too far from Steve.
You start typing in his information to get his entry pass and ID added to the system and run to the housekeeping closet. Steve didn't know how much Bucky had in general so you thought the basics at least should suffice.
You tried to picture what a retired soldier from Steve's period would like and grabbed a basic group of bathroom needs. You also grabbed a room darkening set of curtains, a few extra pillows and a small basket of items from the kitchen as you didn't know if he had eaten for the day.
You went up to his room and logged into all of the accounts for the TV and added him to most of the streaming services as you assumed he would be similar to Steve in technologies sense. You put the extra items on his bed, bathroom counter and end table. You put a printed list of passwords and basic controls on the table as well as the wi-fi password and your contact information as well as housekeeping contacts.
Going back to the main lobby you pick up his newly printed ID just in time to hear a bike roar and a flash of light.
You walk around the desk to open the door for him as he gets off the bike and grabs a small bag.
"Bucky Barnes, I assume?" You flash a small smile and offer a hand.
He gives a slight nod and slowly shakes your hand clearly trying to assess you.
"I'm Y/N, I was told Steve was letting you know about me." You nod over to his ride, "Do you prefer to know where your bike is going or are you okay with one of us taking it to the garage?"
"Where's the garage?" He asks a little defensively.
"It'd be easier to show you around if you're up for it. I assume you won't want the whole tour but the garage, the way to your room and the kitchen."
Steve comes down, "There he is. I'm just about to take off but you take care of Y/N. They rushed around getting everything set up for you. They're also probably a better driver than you." He nods towards his bike.
"Improbable." Bucky responds and you give a smirk.
"So, garage viewing?" You walk over to the bike and throw him his helmet.
He catches it and gives a slight smile before Steve takes the keys from Bucky and throws them to you. You catch them with a slight smile yourself and Steve starts heading off.
"Catch up soon, man. Glad you're here."
Bucky looks back to you quickly.
"I won't force me driving yet if it makes you uncomfy. Just know it'll be a slow ride since you won't know where you're going." You hold out his keys to him.
"Keep em. Let's see this better driving." He slides his helmet on and fails to hide a smirk.
You get on and turn on the bike, "I hardly think a trip to the garage warrants judgement on driving but I'll take it."
He gets on behind you and you speed forward, feeling a rumble behind you as he rushes to grab onto your waist for support.
You follow the wind in the road to the second garage, knowing full well Bucky would probably prefer to not share with the dozens of Tony's cars. You get him into a parking spot fairly close to the elevator he can take up to his floor.
"Not too bad." He acknowledges and you write down the spot to add into his welcome binder.
"Watch the praise, it'll go straight to my head." You decide to tease a little. He gives another small smirk as you turn back to a guide. You showed him the elevator and took out his badge from your pocket to show him how to get to his floor.
"The most direct path, technically, cuts that way-" You point to the right, "However, if you would like to avoid the most commonly used open area you can go back this way." You continue straight. You get him to his room and show him how to scan his ID again on the door to get in.
"This should only unlock for you and housekeeping. There is a scan log in the system as well for your viewing available here." You show him a screen off to the side. He nods and bites his lip.
"I took some liberties as Steve wasn't exact on what you had or not." You point to the bathroom, "Basic items in there on the counter, the rest is on your bed or table. If you need additional items any resources you need are in the binder here." You lean into the binder and grab a pen from your pocket, "Parking spot marked here, and here is the most direct path on the map."
You straighten and look at him, "I know this is a lot and a big change for you. There are contacts in the binder in case you have questions or need something from housekeeping but I also have my number in there if you have questions." You throw him a soft smile as you see he's overwhelmed, "Believe me, there are not as many stupid questions as you'd think if you need to text or call me. I've logged Steve into the wi-fi more times than you can count and I've scanned Sam into the building since he never knows where his ID is. Getting lost is also kind of inevitable in this place too." You extend your hand again, "I'll leave you be, it was nice to meet you. Please reach out if you need anything, and welcome to the tower."
He smirks a little and takes your hand, shaking it. "Thank you." You nod and turn to walk out. "I do have one question," He says softly and you turn back to look at him. "How often are you here for these random calls?"
"I'm on the grounds, just a different floor if that's what you're asking. Calls and texts I can usually respond fairly quickly."
"And these Avengers call you for things?" He nibbles at his lip.
You flash your phone to him as Wanda texts you, "Looks like she is asking me to save her from a meeting with Dr. Banner." You giggle, "I really don't mind, I'm here for you guys. Maybe just make the after hours calls more urgent. I hope we'll talk soon." This time you make it out of the door and start down the hall towards Wanda's location.
--------------
Bucky turns to the now empty room, looking over the items laid out for him. He looks to the binder and types in the contacts listed for security, housekeeping and Y/N.
The next morning as he comes out of his room and walks towards the kitchen marked on the map he runs into Steve talking to Y/N.
"Morning," Steve smiles towards him and Y/N gives a smile before bowing and leaving.
"Hope I didn't interrupt." He looks after Y/N as they turn a corner.
"Absolutely not. I'll catch up with Y/N later, let's grab some grub." Steve pats him on the back as they walk to the kitchen together.
Later in the day, after Steve showed him where the gym was he got ready for a run and made his way towards the fountain. He had heard the Avengers were at a meeting and he was excused from those for the week to get used to the settings.
He started his lap and found a figure ahead of him to his surprise running as well. He could see the headphones in and tried to give some notice when he went to pass them.
They jump as he passes, hearing "Geez, you're as bad as Steve."
He realizes it's Y/N and blushes slightly with a smirk. "Steve normally pass you as well?"
"No, I generally outpace the super soldier." They tease him with a smirk, making him chuckle.
He's surprised he finds himself matching pace for a bit with them and both of them seem content with the silence and activity.
Back in his room after he showers and changes and turns the TV on. He takes out his phone and hovers over their contact.
He bites his lip and presses the button to call and before he can decide to hang up the call is answered. "This is Y/N how can I help?"
"Uh," His cheeks redden as he clears his throat, "Sorry to call, this is Bucky."
"Hi Bucky, don't be sorry. What's up?" The voice is light and cheerful even.
"It's kind of a stupid question but I'm not really familiar with this area, do you know of any good food?"
"That is a great question, not a stupid one. What kind of food are you looking for?"
"I'm open to most things but maybe just a decent burger to start out?"
They list a few over the phone before, "I think a few of the Avengers are heading out to Pete's Pub if you want the environment."
He gathered all of his current courage, "Is there anywhere you're heading out to tonight?"
A slight pause before, "I hadn't planned on it..." He kicked himself for the ask and then, "But I don't mind meeting you somewhere if you're okay with it."
-------------
"Come on, man it's been a month." Steve sighs as he throws a dart at Pete's. "You're on the phone with Y/N constantly and you can always tell when it's them because of your sappy grin."
Bucky blushes deeper and rubs his face before downing the rest of his drink. "I'm just asking questions about the building and stuff."
"How are you? I hope to see you here or there... Are you going to run again at the fountain today? Sorry to call you again but where is this?" Steve mocks. "Just admit it already you have feelings for them."
The door to the pub opens and they see Wanda and Y/N walk in, heading over to their table after Y/N spots you two. "Don't say a word." Bucky warns Steve and Steve puts his hands up defensively.
"How are you two?" Y/N asks as they sit down next to Wanda, across from Bucky and Steve. They meet Bucky's eyes and he blushes immediately.
Wanda gives a slight giggle before getting up to get a drink and asking Steve to accompany.
The rest of the night goes pretty well with conversation and he leaves a bit later to drive back.
He gets ready for bed and stares at his ceiling. Hours go by and he can't sleep.
His fingers are dialing Y/N before he realizes it.
"Hello?" A raspy reply.
"Shit, I'm sorry. Never mind, it can wait." He hangs up and feels immediate regret. He woke them up, what an asshole.
His phone lights up as they call back and he declines with a text, *Seriously, it can wait., Sorry again.*
He gets up to wash his face again and cool it down, when he hears a knock at his door.
"Y/N?" He opens the door and sees them standing there, his eyes running over them.
"Sorry, I didn't change." They respond, gesturing at their sweat pants and t-shirt. "What's going on, what do you need?"
"I'm serious it can wait, I just forgot what time it was." He bites his lip as he sees you in front of him.
"Buck I'm already here," They chuckle, "Can I at least come in while I wait for you to figure out your question?"
"That would be a bad idea," He is well aware of his tone going lower, softer.
"Why?" They look startled, a little hurt. "Did I do something?"
He shakes his head, "No, not really. I just need... something. And it's better if you aren't here right now."
They look hurt and he chastises himself for his wording. "What do you need? Can I grab it for you or get someone to?"
He catches his breath and shakes his head again, "Really," He pulls back into his room and goes to shut the door, "Goodnight, Y/N."
They block the door and touch his wrist. His heartbeat quickens and a flash of desire runs through him. "Buck," Their tone is low and it makes him want them even more right now. He backs up and leaves the door open, crossing the room to get away from them.
He hears them close the door and hopes against hope they are on the other side. A few seconds later he knows they have not left and is well aware of them behind him a few paces.
"What do you need?" Softly again.
"You." He almost groans as it escapes him.
"I'm right here, Buck."
"No, Y/N I want you, need you, in a very different way." He can feel them behind him again and he turns halfway. "So I need you to leave."
A hand goes to his shoulder and he turns fully, "Please, don't make this worse." He shuts his eyes.
"What way do you want me?" He hears from them and a rumble rolls through him.
He feels the hand on his shoulder make it's way to his upper chest and his eyes flutter open in question. He sees their eyes looking over him the way he looks over them.
His eyes flutter back to closing in disbelief as their breath is on his face and closing around his mouth. The moan into their mouth is guttural and almost against his will. They push him back a little and he leans against the wall, their hands in his hair and then pulling his hands to them.
"Is this real?" He whispers as they pull back to kiss his neck.
"As real as this," They graze his member and he shivers in anticipation.
-----------
He's almost scared to open his eyes in the morning, that it was just a very very dirty dream.
Then he sees the state of his room and knows that there was no way he did this alone.
He smirks as he reaches for his phone to call them.
They break in his room, their room and one of the work out rooms before they get caught and people know about them.
Which is probably for the best as Bucky can't get enough of them and can't keep his hands to himself.
"Bet you wish you got here sooner," Steve smirked.
"Better make up for lost time," He finishes grabbing two water bottles before his eyes go back to Y/N and darken. Y/N had taken some well deserved time off for them to fully explore each other, over and over again.

Previously you and Ed had both taken turns leading but Peter seemed to be a better rider than you both so he had you hold on, at least you were able to help with the navigation and lookout aspects.
The terrain got a bit rocky nearing the end of the day however as you were going up a bit of altitude, you had to hold on greatly to Peter and you noticed you could feel him rumbling.
"Does the High King find this amusing?" You teased and giggled back.
"Perhaps." He mumbled with a chuckle, "Are you alright Princess?"
"I'll manage," You smirked, looking around. "We may need to find somewhere to stop soon."
"Agreed, I was hoping to get to that point there." He pointed, showing a point that seemed to offer a flat surface and some rocky overhang.
"Looks alright to me." You nod as you make your way there. You find an area off the exact path that should be big enough to hide your mount and both of you.
You don't go with a fire as you are worried of bringing attention to your area so cold food it was, you both sat and ate in silence.
------
He watched her closely throughout the day, still in shock that he had found them.
After dinner he realized it would be cold without the fire, he almost gulped to think about sleeping this close to Y/N.
For being in her current situation she seemed calm, if pondering inner monologue, he wasn't sure what to talk about with her… the last time before he found the evidence of a traitor it took everything in him not to kiss her. And now that either of them could talk without the barrier of an arranged marriage in between them it was odd.
Her eyes danced playfully, "What are you thinking of?"
He immediately gave a small smirk back, "Thinking of how much has changed and how much has stayed the same since the castle."
"Oh really?" She tilted her head and her hair swept with it a bit, "How so?"
"You're still resilient, brave and badass." He smirked stating it, "And more comfortable with Ed. And for different, you look more… prepared? Calm but fierce. I am very glad we are on the same side."
She giggled and it made him soar again, "I don't know how I still deserve to have you on my side but I'm glad you are as well." She paused looking out, "How strange that I was offered into an arranged marriage and ended up making the best friends I've ever had."
Peter bit his lip thinking about the situation as well, "We are ready to support you… I am ready to support you."
She gave a small smile, before looking back and meeting his eyes, "Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you Pevensies." She finished her meal and they both agreed to try to get an early night's rest to start early in the morning.
He lay down, his back to Y/N as they found a little divot that protected them from the icy wind that now picked up around them and tried to sleep for a while, closing his eyes but alert to every noise. A long while later he heard Y/N.
"Are you asleep, High King?" Came in a whisper.
"No." He chuckled back his response, both of them turning to lay on their backs.
"It's pretty cold tonight." She spoke, shivering slightly, "I think that mixed with no extra cover from the trees is making me nervous. How about you?" She looked over to Peter.
"It's different, haven't had to sleep outdoors for a while." Peter spoke. "We could double up on blankets if you're cold."
She paused, shivering a bit more. "Would that be okay?" He nodded and they rearranged so they had one blanket under them both and extra blankets on top. He swallowed, being around her had already made him nervous but now she was even closer and butterflies were in his stomach. She rearranged for a moment and brushed against his arm which made the butterflies even more intense.
He tried to shake away the feeling, how could she think highly of him after the jump he made at the castle. It was more than enough that she seemed cordial with him.
"That already feels warmer, thanks." She seemed content, he could sense her near him.
"Glad to be of service, Princess." He managed to get out as he was focusing on his breathing.
"I owe you Pevensies more than ever." He could feel the smirk and playful tone in her voice.
He chuckled in response and almost jolted out of his skin as his arm was resting against the side of her arm. His heartbeat was loud and fast and he was almost worried she could hear it. "Get some rest for tonight." He whispered quietly.
"Good night High King." She whispered back.
"Good night Princess."
--------
You woke the next morning and to your surprise Peter was already up.
"Good morning High King," you mumble, "you seem to be a much earlier bird than your brother." You state with a smile as you rub your neck.
"Good morning Princess," he smiled to you, "I think I'm just more excitable outdoors." He chuckled, "although Ed can be quite harsh in the morning."
"Really?" You smirked back, "I mean sure he's a bit of a grizzly in the morning but he tried to hide it."
You started rolling the blankets up and Peter came over to help you, packing your bags back with everything you had.
"Onwards?" He asked as you nodded, normally you and Ed ate in the mornings but this may not be the best spot to anyways.
You both pushed on for hours, trying to scope out any spots to continue your path. At one point you both got off and started walking around an area to scope out how to cross.
A gurgle in your stomach drew Peter's attention, "Right, we should eat."
"I'm fine really, let's keep pushing." You blushed slightly since he seemed like he just wanted to get on with this travel and not stop.
"Too late, Princess." He smirked, unrolling one of the bags he got off the horse.
You sat there while he insisted on making a meal and you both ate, mostly in silence. You did catch him looking at you a few times and on the third decided to ask.
"Did I do something to offend you?"
He frowned, shaking his head. "No, why?"
"Between the silent treatment and the staring I figured I was horribly transformed from my travels or just awful company." You wagered.
"You are neither," he assured, giving a slight smirk.
You stared, prodding him for further response.
"I-" he moved his food and looked down, "I just keep thinking about how awful I was to you."
"When?" You scoffed, confused for a second before he gave you a look. "Ah. Right. Well, I don't think you were awful. You were taking precautions with the evidence you had."
"I immediately jumped to a conclusion without letting you defend yourself. I was so thrown that it was a possibility and I let my guard down around my family and myself. I'm so sorry," He stabbed at another piece of food as he frowned.
"Hey," you slowly move your hand over his, "It's okay, really. There isn't even anything to apologize for. Please," you meet his eyes, before giving a slight smirk, "make a truce with yourself, High King."
He stares into your eyes for a moment before you both hear some movements. You both quickly cover as much of your stop as you could and ducked into the pit of a larger tree nearby and covered yourselves to try and camouflage. You hear the sounds even louder and some voices, it sounded like a party of at least half a dozen. You felt Peter's hand move slightly to clasp yours and you both breathe lightly.
You both wait for what seems like a long enough time before slowly deciding to move.
"We need to press on a bit more and find a safe enough spot to hunker down." Peter mentioned quietly.
"Agreed," you help pack up and you both head out again pushing hard to get further for the day.
Once it's too dark to travel, you both stop.
"I think we're getting close." You mention as you absently start unrolling your blankets.
"I think another good day and we'll be at the first location." Peter agreed, also unrolling his blankets.
The night passes by fairly smoothly but first thing in the morning you wake with a start as you feel rain starting. Peter wakes as well and you both rush to pack up and start on the move. It starts pouring even heavier another half an hour out and you spot a rocky overhang that should be enough room to duck under for a bit and is semi covered by foliage.
You both strip what you can off to try and put up to dry and agree as it's fairly cold to start a small hidden fire for warmth and to try to dry.
"Of course we're delayed," Peter sighs as he leans back.
"I can't say I mind too much," you speak up, looking out, "I love when it rains."
"Do you?" He smirks over to you. "Well, what shall we do while we wait?"
"Mmmm," you think, and after a moment, "I think I have some wine in my bag somewhere from Ed. Or we can play ISpy. Or we can talk tactics or sword training." You smirk. "I'll leave it up to you."
In the end, you both found some small rocks and started going over tactics. After a while you also pop open the wine and start passing it back and forth while you discuss.
Then the drawing of the weapons, training back and forth. You had almost forgotten with everything going on how much you had learned on fighting. And that he and his brother had been the ones to teach you most of what you knew.
He went to strike and you couldn’t help but give a slight giggle when you blocked and his eyebrow raised.
“Very good, someone has been training.”
“Much to the dismay of your brother,” You lunge and he parries, too easily for your liking.
He strikes back and you start to buckle back to avoid the swing, falling back into the open unsheltered space and towards the mud. You hear a clang of metal drop as he reaches to try and catch you.
You both end up falling into a particularly muddy area with a weird wet plop.
You burst out laughing, rather loud before you reel it in and realize you’re still trying to be quiet. You hear Peter start laughing from next to you and you both turn to face each other and assess the amount of mud.
“Maybe I shouldn’t have tried that one,” He looks slightly concerned.
“Peter Pevensie, don’t you dare hold back on me!” You yell and laugh at him, he softens his look and goes back to chuckling. “I wouldn’t say no to some help getting up though, I feel fairly stuck.”
He stands after a few minutes, also fairly stuck it seems. He tries and fails to clear some of the mud from himself before offering a hand to you to help you up, a strong pull finally breaks you free and you are almost thrown into him.
—------
His heartbeat picks up immediately as he helps steady her after pulling her up. She still has remnants of a grin on her face from the fall and she is also covered head to toe in mud as the rain is still coming down but at a slightly slower pace than when they stopped.
She is the most beautiful person I have ever seen, he admits to himself at that moment. It almost startles him, the realization of how deep he feels about her as if she had just stabbed him directly in the heart.
“Well now we have to worry about getting clean and dry.” She breaks the silent moment, teasing him directly.
He tries to think of something witty in response, anything; but his mind is blank except the praises he has for her. His thoughts of… his eyes go to her lips and he unconsciously licks his.
A snap, out of the ordinary happens not far enough off. Panic sets into her features and his as she grabs his hand and pulls him running. 20, 30, 40 feet away from the noise and she finds a tree stump with a large hollow at the bottom and she quickly pushes him in and grabs multiple surroundings, he feels himself digging his feet into the muck to blend in.
Both of their heartbeats and breath are racing as she tucks into him, trying to lay flat. Part of her is directly on top of him and he struggles to push the feeling down as they both listen.
Hooves, and a short whistle go off back the way they came. They both hold their breath as they hear another set coming from the way they had been heading.
They both wait for a few minutes, which seem impossibly long as they hear horses neighing. Some parts of mumbling break through the otherwise quiet area.
He doesn’t know how long they lay there but at some point he realizes he is no longer waiting with bated breath for them to return. His thoughts, as if a force is guiding him, focus in on her.
Her breathing, now calm.
Her heartbeat, still fast and alert but not as fast as it had been.
Her left hand, tucked into his arm as she had fallen into him and grabbed his arm.
Her head, on his shoulder.
Her smell, still her. Even through the mud and very musty smell of the tree hollow.
And then another thought pops into his head, not as alarming -surprisingly- as the last. He loves her.
What to do with that thought, he was unsure but they sit here and wait and he continues to study her.

"Well you're going to be on serious lockdown," Tony noted, nodding in the rearview mirror towards Nats bike that was right behind you. "Anything we should grab while we're out?"
You shrug, "Not really? I mean my clothes would be nice but that's in my place- don't think that's safe at all, even if its still standing." You sigh.
Tony gives you a tight smile and shakes his head, "Probably not. But I know a quick place to stop for food." He gives you a slight wink before gunning over a few blocks.
"A hot dog stand?" Your eyebrows raise.
"The best dogs in NY- and that's saying something." He smirks, opening his window.
"Mr. Stark!" The older lady greets with a smile, "Two specials?"
"Make it four today, Iris." He smirks to her as she leans down and sees you.
"Oh, pretty companion today Mr. Stark!" She winks as she gets four dogs ready with everything and you slide in your seat a little and blush.
"Thanks Iris," Tony smiles as he hands a hundred dollar bill out to her and takes the bag. "Extra juju in the bag?"
"Of course," She smiles back and leans back down, "Have a good day my dear!"
"Thanks you too!" You try to be nice but you are screaming with your eyes for her to not think the wrong thing about you two.
"You're the best, Iris." Tony smiles again to her before pulling away.
"So Iris sees a lot of the girls who get Starks extra juju?" You smirk, trying to turn the conversation lighter.
He chuckles back, "I wouldn't say that." He stated but didn't continue on.
He pulls into the parking garage a few minutes later and you both get out, he taps his car hood. You both slide onto it and he pulls out a dog, handing it to you.
You peak over, "what's the extra juju?"
He chuckles, pulling one of the containers out from the bag and opens it.
"Onions?"
"Amazing onions." He smirks and you hold your hand out for a container which he gives, albeit not happily.
You both sat and ate the hot dogs, just enjoying the silence. "Thanks," you mumble as you scoot off the hood.
"What was that?" Tony leaned and held his ear.
"Thanks, Stark." You say in a low tone but very close to his ear.
He smirks, before dropping it a bit. "You've told me everything, right?"
You bite your lip, "Everything I can. I promise it's the most important bits." You spot Nat coming from the elevator and know you'll be in lockdown with her for a while. You rest your hand on his phone and ask for permission with your eyes for a second, which he guardingly nods. You quickly open up notes and type a number in before locking his phone. "Thanks again, Stark."
Nats anger radiates from her as you get pulled along back towards her room, you look back at Stark for a final time and see him staring at you. "What were doing with his phone?"
"I was giving him my number, Nat. Figured if he needed me it was fastest."
"We're gonna have to break your phone ya know."
"Woah break? We could just turn it off ya know…"
"Now is not the time to be a cheap ass."
You frown slightly knowing your life is worth more but what are you going to have left to come back with if this case closes in a happy manner? A bag of clothes and another story to tell?
It was a rough rest of the day, everywhere- including to the common room for food and the bathroom- Nat went with you. She seemed stuck to you and while you knew she was trying to do it for your good you were also a bit over it.
The same happened the next day and looked like she would be on top of you again but Stark called her into his office. You saw Nat start walking upstairs, determined for whatever she was doing and Stark popped around the corner.
"Bring whatever you're eating with you, looks like you're upgrading to me today." He smirks, leaning against a wall and waiting as you scooped up your plate and refill your coffee cup before following him- all the rest of the eyes of the house have been on you this whole time anyways.
"I've seen magnets easier to pry apart than Nat on you." Stark smirks again, leaning over to work on a project as you sat at a table across from him, finishing up your breakfast.
"Yeah when she goes overprotective mode she leaves no room for error….or air." You smirk back to him and he chuckles lightly.
You catch him staring at you as you try to eat some more, his eyes soft. "You figure out the number?"
He nods slightly, still pretending to futz with what was in front of him but staring at you intently.
You bite your lip, "I can't discuss it but hopefully it answered some questions."
He stays silent for a moment before finally, "It did, it told me the biggest parts I was unsure about. And while there was quite a lot that was redacted in the file I fancy myself smart enough to put together enough of the pieces."
You smile tightly, "Please don't tell Nat or Barton I gave you that." He nods again as he shifts his attention back to his project. "So what made Tony Stark himself pull a babysitting shift?"
"Unfortunately I had a mission I had to assign to someone, I felt best to get her out for a few to give her and you some time away from each other. The only way I could get her to go is if I promised someone would watch you and since I know the most-"
"Shortest straw drawn." You nod, picking up your cup of coffee. "I really don't know how much trouble I can get in if I stay in my room, the common area and the bathroom though."
"Let's not find out while she's gone." Stark smirked to you, looking like he was finishing up something on the device and then hopped to sit onto the desk you were using. "If anything happens she'll never grab another mission and she'll be purchasing a pair of cuffs for you both to stay locked together in."
"Fair enough," you smirk, "although I doubt she needs to purchase em."
"Fair enough…" Stark smirked back. "Is there anything you had on your schedule today?"
You sigh, leaning back, "Well my schedule is very full, what with the damsel in distress stuff." You smirk as he keeps his eyes on you, "is there anything I can actually help with around here?"
“It sounds cliche but can you come hold this piece of equipment while I repair it?” He asked, after you nodded he jumped back off the desk and walked over to a small piece of electrical equipment as you followed, “Okay, it’s pretty small but I’m going to need you to hold it steady so I can work on it.”
He showed you where to hold to stay out of his way and you bit your lip, holding it as steady as you could. You see a smirk out of the corner of your eye as he stifles a chuckle from your concentration, leaning in and bringing a small tool with him. He is much closer than you realized but he starts working on the tiny little piece in your hand so you hold as still as you can, his arm reaching around yours to get a better angle on one of his hands.
“Does Nat know you two are so flirty?” Clint crosses his arms from the doorway and leans against it as Tony backs up carefully so he doesn’t knock into you.
“You got me, arrows. Fixing equipment is my way of flirting.” Tony rolled his eyes, “What are you doing here anyways?”
“Nat wanted more eyes on her,” He gives a grin as you place the electronic piece back down.
“I literally don’t know what I can get into staying here,” You sigh heavily, “I don’t need another babysitter I need something to keep me busy.”
“Which is exactly what we were doing, Barge-ton.” Tony points out and you smirk at the pun.
“I don’t know if I trust you to watch her,” Clint narrows his eyes.
You laugh out loud and they both turn to look at you, “Sorry, it’s just that you don’t trust someone to watch me eat my breakfast and drink my coffee and use the bathroom? Clint you’re way too overprotective dad.”
He gives the slightest hint of a smile as Tony goes full smirk.
You point to the door, “Go enjoy your day with Laura and the munchkins, I promise to be a good girl scout and stay inside the nice shiny building home to a bunch of superheroes, okay?”
“Nat would kill me.”
“Nat is killing me already, at least one of us can live our lives.” You point, “I’ll tell her I twisted your arm and everything.” You smirk again and he sighs.
“I want hourly updates.”
“Dude,” You squint, “Don’t make me actually hurt you, leave.”
“Fine, I love you too!” He puts his arms up in defense as he turns to leave.
You lean back, before you turn to Tony who looks very amused. “Do you want two super agents? Slightly used but still got some mileage on them.”
“Normally I would be mocking them entirely,” Tony leans against the table behind you both, “But it’s almost endearing how much they care for you.”
“I must make an alright first impression,” You tease, “Alright, back to the electronics?” You crack your knuckles in front of you.

Waking up you yawn and stretch and check your phone 1:34pm- you should get a move on. You brush your teeth and start making your way to the kitchen to start some coffee.
"Hey," The smiling figure of Tony Stark is there in your kitchen.
You can't hide your shock for a minute, "Hey!" You forgot he had spent the night and a blush came over your cheeks, you rub your face a bit to hide it.
"I was about to grab you in like 10, breakfast is almost ready." He smirked, turning around from flipping the potatoes.
"Tony Stark, professional cook, eh?" You sit at a stool at your counter and he turns to you, pouring a cup of coffee.
"What can I get ya, sweetheart?" He mocks taking your order and you giggle.
"Ill take blueberry pancakes in the shape of a bear and more of this." You raise your cup to your mouth and grin.
"Best I got is eggs and potatoes." A timer goes off, "Oh and bacon." He turns around and starts flipping the pieces.
"Really Tony you didn't need to do any of this." You say, lifting your cup to your lips again.
He stops and turns to face you with a funny look on his face.
"What?"
He shakes his head a bit, and you swear you see him blush slightly before turning back around.
"What?" You ask again, chuckling a bit at his behavior.
"Nothing!" He smirks, starting to plate the food as he waited a few more minutes for the bacon.
You squint as he stares at you the whole time you two eat but he just smirks and starts talking about your place.
"I like it here," He nods, still slightly red in the face.
"Me too," You grin, "that's why I live here."
"Good choice." His eyes look over you for a second before talking to you about how you decorated it and more about things in your place and why you have them.
Soon enough you finish up and he offers to fly you to the mall.
"I think I can drive and make it up there ya know."
Tony shrugs, "Perhaps but it isn’t as stylish.” He grins, throwing a wink towards you. “Alright, we can drive like peasants.” He puts his hand out for your keys.
“I can drive well enough, thanks.” You pull back with a smirk.
“Maybe, maybe. You also had a weird sleep schedule last night though,” His hand reached further and grabbed the keys out of your hand.
You sigh, giving in. “Fine, Stark. But not a scratch!”
He smirks back at you as you both walk out. Driving there in the passenger seat of your own car was odd but he was a surprisingly nice driver. You guys get there and start walking in, you were still kinda shocked at how easygoing he was with conversation and everyday errands, even in the iron man suit.
You go to a few stores for both of your shoes, your purses and then the necklaces and bracelets and even pick out a cute hair accessory for Dottie before the almighty stop for the dresses.
“Oh no,” Your eyebrows knit together, “Looks like they closed early today, emergency.” You frown, looking at your watch. “Guess I can try to pick them up tomorrow kinda early.”
Tony looks inside real quick before taking out his phone, “You hungry? Let’s grab some grub for a few.”
You smirk over to him, “Tony Stark and mall food? This I have to see.” You lead the way to the food court and of course he finds a small sit in place and a corner booth. “The bougiest place in here and this is you slumming it?”
“Sometimes you have to live like the other half.” He smirks back, teasing.
You both chat for a while over semi decent mall food and more time passes than you realize. “We should probably start heading back, I wanna grab a nap in case I’m called in tonight.”
“Sleeping Beauty,” Tony rolls his eyes, standing up as you both head back towards the entrance. He grabs your hand at some point and you look down before looking up to him, he’s pointing up towards the dress shop. “Looks like they reopened.”
You try to stop the blush from coming into your cheeks, trying to focus on the store. “Awesome!” You start walking towards the store and Stark keeps his hand entwined with yours, trailing behind you. “I am able to walk by myself, you know.” You mumble, trying to be sassy.
“Is this making you uncomfortable?” He steps in front of you for a second, looking into your face.
You feel your face turn more red by the second and he grins, leaning down.
“Alright, I’ll wait. I’m not a patient person by nature though I hope you realize.” He waves his hand into the store as he opens the door with the other.
You go inside and quickly sus out the dresses you and Grace picked out, realizing that the only color left in your size was a little different than the one you picked online. You bit your lip, unsure of it.
“Try it on,” Tony nodded towards the fitting rooms.
“I don’t know, I could just go with another color. This one looks a bit….” Your eyes widened slightly to him.
He picked it up along with the other style in a different color, “Try them both on and decide.” He hands you the hanger and grabs the bags from your hands.
You walk towards the fitting rooms and go to try the dresses on.
“Well?” Stark asks from outside of the room.
“This is the original style in the other color. I think this one will be fine.” You nod to yourself.
“Ah, ah, ah. Let me see. I’ll take a picture of each for Grace.”
You chuckle, “This one will be fine!”
“Don’t make me video call her and stick my hand over this door.”
“Alright, alright!” You call, slowly opening the door.
He smiles, holds up his phone and asks you to spin. “Alright I think I have it, sending it to her now. Go try on the other one.”
“Bossy, bossy.” You go back into the room and try the other one on, looking at yourself in the mirror. “I’m going to go with the other one.”
“Video callllll.” You hear from the other side of the door.
You open the door and peek your head out, “This one fits much differently, I’m more uncomfortable.”
“Look, Grace is already asking for the other option.” Stark grins towards you, shrugging.
You sigh, “Fine, just don’t laugh.” You step out and look towards the floor. “Well?” You ask after a second and look up, seeing his face turning red. “It sucks, right?”
He holds up his phone and clears his throat, “I think this one is my favorite, actually.” He asks you to turn and you finish, going back into the room.
You come out a few minutes later holding both up.
“Grace has voted, decidedly the second one. From her and myself.” Tony holds up his phone so you can see her excited shrieking.
You blush a bit more, “Really? You sure it’s not too much?”
“Well I don’t think so, buuuut you’re also talking to the guy who bought another car just because he didn’t have one that matched anything on his outfit for an event.” He grins, grabbing the hanger out of your hand with the second dress and hauls that and Grace’s dress to the counter.
You quickly put the other dress on the putbacks rack in the closet before going up to the counter as the cashier was bagging it.
“How much?” You ask as you reach for your bag that Tony has.
“Already took care of them.” Stark smirks, grabbing the bag from the clerk. “Thanks a bunch.” He nods, turning around to walk out of the store.
You follow him pouting towards the entrance.
“Oh come on, you bought everything else today.” Tony smirked, “I’m making you both come to this thing it’s the least I could do.” He leans in front of you.
“Tony I didn’t ask you to buy anything, it was just nice that you were hanging out.”
“I know you didn’t, I also just liked hanging out.” He turned towards you completely and stopped walking, you walked into him.
“Ouch, sorry.” You rub your face before looking up to him.
“I really enjoyed our day. I’d say from 4 am this was a pretty kick ass first date.”
Your cheeks turned semi red again, “It’s definitely the longest I’ve been on a date.” You smirk, grabbing all of your bags from him. "Thanks, Stark."
He went back to smirking before turning back around, insisting on driving.
You both set the bags inside of your place, and Tony checked his watch. “I should probably finally let you get some rest.”
“I got a long day ahead of me tomorrow,” You nod, teasing. “I’m sure you have planning to do for tomorrow as well.”
He shrugs, “I think I have most everything planned. I do have a ride coming to the hospital for you, Grace and Dottie. Also, I require a dance with you.” He steps closer to you.
“This was not in the original agreement,” You shake your head, meeting his eye as he smirks.
“It was a clause, pity you didn’t read the fine print.”
“You Starks are always making shady deals.” You smirk back at him and he acts fake wounded.
“It’s just good business.” He steps even closer.
You gulp and he hovers in front of you, “And what is good business to end a-” You check your watch, “14 hour date.”
He leans in closer, his face just hovering above yours. “New territory, a little unsure.”
“Fair enough,” You barely breath, slowly looking down at his lips.
“I should probably go.” Tony clears his throat, slowly backing away.
“Oh,” You clearly sound disappointed in your voice, even you hear it.
He stops and smirks, “Unless you have a better idea.”
You shrug, biting your lip and play with your hands.
He grabs them in his, leaning in again. “Would it be okay to kiss you on your cheek?”
You slowly meet his eyes and shake your head. His face slowly frowns, “I’d prefer this,” You finish leaning in and meet his lips, if just for a quick second. You raise one of your hands to the side of his face and pull him in again, this time meeting his lips a bit greedily.
He raises his hand to your face and stops, pulling back. He raises his hand to his ear, “Worst timing.”
“I’m sorry-”
“Not you.” He holds up a finger to your mouth and smirks. “It looks like I have a job to run to now.”
“Oh,” You nod. “Right.”
“I’ll be at the tower in a few.” Tony presses into his ear before pulling you back into him, pressing his lips into yours again for a little longer, this time his hands are around you. You raise your hands to his hair for a moment before breaking away.
“Don’t you have to go?”
He nods, kissing you again. You chuckle into him, feeling his smirk. “I don’t want to yet.”
“Go,” You push away from him, “I’ll see you tomorrow?” You try to catch your breath as you look at him. God he looks good with slightly messy hair, you bite your lip again.
He nods, also trying to catch his breath, “Tomorrow, right. Don’t lose whatever this is though,” His hands hover over you. He clicks his bracelet and the suit starts forming over him, you give him a slight wave as he leaves before turning back inside.
You slide down your front door after you get inside, Oh my god. Did I just kiss Tony? Your mind raced for a few minutes longer before you started putting some of your stuff away or hanging it up for the night.

"Mhm." You nod, looking at the ID, "Agent Wilson and Agent O'Connell..." You glared slightly at the badges in front of you, something seemed off.
"That's us." The shorter one spoke.
"We've actually worked a case with Jody before." The taller one spoke, trying to stay polite.
"Mills?" You cocked your head to the side, she was good people. You immediately take out your phone after they nod and dial her. "Hey Mills, I got two boys here that say they've worked with ya." You nod, "Yep pulled up in an impala." She ran down that they were both good help and you finally show them behind the tape.
"Fourth brutal one this month." You nod to the officer standing guard and they walk a few paces away, letting out a breath they were trying to hold. "Same MO as the others, torn in the neck and slashed on one arm- then the head." You nod, not needing to explain it was missing.
"Has anyone been seen around the scenes?"
"Besides us?" You look around, "Not that I caught but we've been taking pictures of people behind the tape."
"Nice protocol." The taller one, O'Connell, stated.
"Well, to be fair I've been verifying extra with these." You bit your lip wondering if you should just give these agents your work- Mills knew her stuff though you'd trust her with your life. "Some differences have been occurring."
"Like...?" The shorter one, Wilson spoke up.
"Well the first one was completely messy, the second one had the scene around it calm but the third one had a message on the wall behind the body," you stand and bring out a case file.
"Beautiful," The taller one stated.
"Creep-tastic." The shorter one shivered.
"Anything in this one?"
You reach into the nearest box of collection and grab a police badge found at the scene, on it in lipstick was a drawn heart.
"So the message may be for you guys, not the victims." The taller one nodded, trying to nonchalantly turn his gaze back to the people standing out there.
"I'm not sure which one though, or if our whole crew?" You shook your head, "I would find it more likely to be a woman leaving this behind due to the placement with care and the lipstick heart but with this sort of violent crime it's statistically less likely to be one." You shook your head and sighed.
"Have you spoken with the family?" The taller one asked.
You shook your head, "DNA test is still running through to confirm but there's a tattoo we're also running. Hopefully we get a match soon."
You got the agent's card and they told you to call with any additional info, you hand them your card back, "I know you don't have to but I'd appreciate any info you guys get, especially for my team."
"Understood." The short one nods along with the taller one's statement and they get in their car.
You can't help but shiver slightly as you feel someone watching you, you don't turn to the crowd but ask one of your tech's to take another picture so you can look through later.
---
"Lorna Evers." You state as the two agent's get out of their car and you finish another sip of your coffee. "ID came back as positive from a familial match in the system, holding onto the tattoo picture unless the family can describe it."
They both nod, letting you take the lead for the start. They asked a lot of questions that seemed a little strange like "was your daughter ever involved in groups or clubs?" Or "Did your daughter indulge in any activities that seemed strange or in weird times or places?"
You noted answers but moved on, not sure where they were going.
The next day Mills showed up, apparently to step in on the investigation.
"Are you kidding me?" Your jaw clenched, "Pulling rank is not your move Mills."
"It is this time, sorry Y/L/N." She crossed her arms. "Relax and get some paperwork processed."
You stomped out of the room and slammed your fist down in defeat on your desk, royally pissed.
----
Paperwork, it was the same old anyways. Hour after hour you went through the same details from boring arrests that you didn't care if you processed right now.
Mills stepped in front of you hours later and offered you a cup of coffee and a muffin as a piece offering.
"Still dislike it." You sigh as you take a sip and start your weird ritual into your muffin.
"You still tear the bottom off and eat that first huh?"
"Muffin top is best, save it for last." You shrug.
More hours pass and you wait, doing paperwork or biding your time to see if you can catch Mills leaving. Early morning swings by and she grabs her coat, looking to be in a rush.
"Something happen?" You incline your jaw.
"What are you still doing here? Go home." Mills called.
You groan as she slams the door, plopping back down in your chair. You had never been this caught up before, you might actually finish, what will your boss nag you about then?
You phone lights up half an hour later, Mills.
"That was fast, need my assistance?" You smirk and lean back in your chair.
"Y/N tell me you haven't left the building." Heavy breathing as you can hear her running.
"No," your mouth frowns and you stand, grabbing your gun from your desk drawer. "Are you okay?"
"I need you to do me a favor, no questions asked until I get there," the slam of a car door and the start of the engine.
"Jody what's going on?"
"Listen!" She yells, "Go to the kitchenette and pour salt around you in a circle. Don't shoot with your gun it'll just anger it-" signal drops.
"Hello? Jody? ...What kind of superstitious-" the power goes out in the building and you get a little spooked, perfect timing. You bite your lip, it can't hurt to be found in a circle of salt right? A loud sound comes from the front and you jolt again, walking towards the kitchen anyways, "why am I actually doing this?" You chuckle as you finish throwing your salt in a circle. A loud slam in the hall and you strain not to draw your gun.
The door flies open and the glass in the window shatters, you flinch and cover your face.
"There you are." A low voice creeps, as a woman walks in.
"Who are you?" You ask and you see your breath in front of you.
"An admirer." She steps closer to you, it is taking everything in you to avoid your instinct to pull your gun.
“You smell interesting,” She twitches a little and you try not to flinch.
“It’s just head and shoulders, I got a dry scalp.” You spot a few figures out in the hall and you try not to draw your gaze. “Why did you do that to those people?”
“To get your attention, of course.” She grins and her mouth falls open further than you’ve ever seen possible.
“Coulda just said hello, I like to think I’m pretty easy to talk to.” They come up closer and spot you in the room.
“I want your SOUL,” She shouts, blasting freezing air over you.
“It’s currently occupied,” You duck as Mills gives you a signal and noise happens above you, you’re sure it’s a shot.
A scream from nearby as the lady is gone.
“Is she gone?” You ask after a shaky minute, raising your head.
“No,” The shorter agent calls and you notice the taller one was missing.
“Stay in the circle,” Mills calls, turning around with a sawed off in hand.
Another moment later and the shorter guy gets thrown as Jody tries to shoot again.
“The hell are you shooting with?”
“Salt!” She shouts as she uncocks the gun to reload, getting knocked down by the woman.
She goes to starts swiping at Jody and you dive for the other gun the shorter guy dropped, taking aim and shooting hearing a loud moan as they disappear, Jody getting up and the shorter agent getting up as well.
“Sammy is taking his sweet time,” The shorter one mumbles as the woman appears next to you, going to swipe at your throat.
You close your eyes for a split second before hearing a loud scream, seeing the woman burn in front of you.
“What the hell happened?” You speak after a minute of panting between the three of you and silence.
“You’re gonna want a drink for this,” Jody sighed, sitting down.
“First round’s on me.”
-----
After the taller one arrives you go to a bar nearby and sit down in a corner booth, surprisingly away from most people.
“I’m gonna guess you’re not agents,” You state after you take a long gulp from your drink.
“This is Sam, that’s Dean,” Jody introduces, “They take care of.... special cases.”
“Like women who can turn out lights and rip people apart?”
They all nod, “Among other things,” Dean states.
“Do they all hate sodium? I might have to start putting stock in Morton’s.”
“Not all of the things we deal with, but a decent bit.” Sam states, fiddling with the label on his drink.
“And you help them?” You turn to Jody.
“When they come up and I can overall.” She nods.
“Looks like I have a lot more I have to study about behavior.” You chuckle, “Is there like a website on this or?”
They smirk, going over a few things with you over the next couple drinks and they seem to relax a bit more especially with the trust Mills put in you.
“Well,” You state as everyone heads out for the night, “Hold onto my card, let me know if I can help. I promise I’ll be a good scout and research. And next time you’re in town I’ll buy first round again,” You smirk as you shake their hands.
You drive home and have a hard time sleeping, instead looking up what they were talking about. Did this stuff really exist? What did you walk into?

You chuckled, checking the time as you walk out to your car from the precinct. Almost 4 am, lovely. You clear your car as you get in, force of habit before sitting in it and locking your doors. You pull out your phone and while you doubt Tony is awake he did ask you to text him, you see two unread texts from him.
*I had a good time driving with you, thanks for the invite… let me know when you're out*
*this looks like it might take a while, I'll gussy up and take a nice nap for when you're out- call me.*
You sigh, call? A text should be more than enough, you don't wanna wake him up.
You text *sorry it took so long, it's gonna be a rough case- thanks for riding with me. I'll have to raincheck on that date. Night.* you bit your lip and sent it before you could think it over more and then hooked up your phone for music before driving away.
Not even a full minute later you received an incoming call coming through your car, *Stark* . Your eyes widen a little and pick up, "Hello?"
"A text isn't calling ya know." You could hear him smirking through the phone.
"It's almost 4 am, Stark. Figured I'd let you get your beauty sleep." You smirk back.
"If I get any more beauty sleep people would have to cover their eyes when they pass me in the streets." He chuckled, "How was work?"
"It was… longer than expected. How was the rest of your day?" You know your voice sounded pretty out of it but you just wanted to relax.
"I was waiting for this awesome lady to call me and noticed it might take longer so I went to sleep until she texted me."
You blush slightly, glad he couldn't see you, "Sounds like a boring night."
"Not really. Now she can make it up to me."
"Stark, I'm about to head home and change and go to sleep myself."
"You gotta eat, I'll pick up food and meet you at your place- pick a movie to have ready I'll see you in 20." He smirked and hung up before you could answer.
"Infuriating." You sigh, you were only a few minutes from home and you wanted to take a shower, that should be enough time but you may want to hurry in the shower to make sure.
You get home and take a speed shower and change into your pjs, looking through some movies that you hadn't seen, wondering which genres Tony liked. You usually liked sci fi or bad horror movies but there were some comedy and rom com movies that were in the loop.
A few minutes later as you took the towel out of your hair to let it air dry there was a knock on your door. You look through the peephole and see Stark's helmet pressed near your vision.
You unlock your door and open it, seeing a suited Tony with a plastic takeout bag in one hand and some beer in the other.
"I remember you saying you like a nice beer after long days." He spoke after he lifted his visor with a smile.
You gave a small smile and let him in, "Thanks… you know you really didn't have to come by."
"Nah but I wanted to," he set the bag down in the kitchen and opened the fridge to put the beer in before grabbing one for you and one for himself. You helped carry things into the living room and plopped down on the couch- going through the options for movies.
"Any of them you wanna watch but I do love old horror movies and bad horror movies." He leans back and opens his beer.
"Horror movies for the win then." You smirk, putting on a collection and opening your drink. "So what do we have to eat?"
"It's my favorite mashup of takeout." He smirks, opening a couple of containers and popping them on the table, "take what sounds good."
You pause, grabbing the chopsticks that were given for some of the food and start taking some noodles. You were joking and talking with Tony through some of the movie as you both ate a decent bit.
"You haven't even touched the bok choy!" Tony teased, holding one up on his chopsticks.
"I… don't think I've ever had one." You say a little defeated, scratching your neck.
"Try one, see if you like it." Tony held out a piece on his chopsticks and you hold your plate underneath. He smirked but held the food steady, coming closer to your mouth. "Go on."
"I can eat by myself ya know." You flush just slightly and take the bite of bok choy, chewing.
"Well?" Tony tilted his head, waiting.
"That's really good!" You smile, taking another on your plate.
"I'm glad you like 'em."
You clean up the plates not even halfway through the movie and sit back on the couch watching some more. You pulled your legs up on the couch with you and grab a light cover since your AC seemed to be working overtime at cooling your place.
You both joked and laughed through some more of the movie but you eventually must have dozed off. You open your eyes not really knowing where you were and you remember watching the movie with Tony very early this morning.
You adjust the pillow under your head and touch a harder surface than your couch. You look up and jolt up a bit, realizing that you were laying on Tonys leg and he was sleeping as well leaned back on your couch. You slowly look around for your phone to check the time 10:18 am, no wonder you were still tired.
Tony shifts underneath you and your mind goes blank as he reaches over and pulls you into him closer. You close your eyes again and try to keep your breathing in check.
*jingle* an alarm starts buzzing on his phone and you try not to jump. You fake a half breath and try to make it look like you're just waking as he jolts to pick it up. He turns it off and tries not to move, probably hoping you would go back to sleep.
"Stark?" You sit up and rub your face, "Well shit. Sorry," you back up a bit.
"Why?" He chuckled lightly.
"I must have fallen asleep...on you…"
"I'm having a great time, don't apologize."
You stand and start straightening a few things.
"Why are you up?"
"I have to run to the mall for our dresses and whatnot for the party."
"Get some more rest first." Stark stood and enveloped you in his arms, pushing you towards your room. "I'll help you make sure to get that stuff."
"Stark! Come on I have to grab and charge my phone and brush my teeth and-"
"Say no more Captain! Go brush your teeth." He smirked, giving you a small push towards your room as he turned around to go to the living room.
You start brushing your teeth and hear him walk in the room in another minute, asking where to plug your phone in.
He waits for you to finish brushing your teeth and sets up your charger.
You shake your head at him as he walks up to you to make sure you go to bed. You fall back into bed and he covers you up, overdramatically- you both start laughing as he's trying to tuck you in.
"Hey Stark?" You ask as he's leaning over you.
"Yeah, Y/L/N?" He cocks his head to the side.
"Thanks.." You peck his cheek and turn to face away from him.
You could hear him smirk as he replied, "Not sure what for but you're welcome. Good night."
"For being silly and nice. You're welcome to take the couch by the way if you like…. Good night."
You hear him walk out and close the door before fading rather quickly into unconsciousness again.
Going to a party with the Avengers seemed like a fun night, until Nat signs up everyone for something that no one agrees to.

"Come on!" Wanda and Natasha call from the bottom of the stairs.
"I'm not coming!" You yell back from the safety of your room, looking back at the mirror with terror. "Fuck," you mutter, trying to pull on the dress you swore fit better a few weeks ago when you bought it.
A soft knock at the door and your attention moved to the handle that wasn't locked, "don't come in!" You yell as the handle turns slightly.
"Doll, it's just me." Bucky says softly, pausing.
Definitely don't want him to see you like this, "Buck not now... I'm having wardrobe issues." You say softly, a little defeated.
"Are you decent?" He asks.
You gulped down, "Depends on your definition."
He opened the door anyways, spinning and shutting the door behind him- keeping his eyes away from you. "Is there something that needs to be fixed?"
"Yeah, me." You gulp, "I must have been high when I bought this, Buck, I swear. It's too tight to say the least."
"May I look?" Bucky asks, the sweetest gentleman you had ever met.
"You can if you promise not to laugh..." You bit your lip and he turned around slowly.
He opened his eyes and saw you in front of him. His eyes opened a little wider and roamed your figure for a minute, a heavy blush settling into his cheeks and ears. "Wow, you look-"
"I know-" You blushed deeper, hiding your face in your hands.
Steve, Bucky and Sam were all dressing up as soldiers from the war- Wanda, Nat and yourself were all dressing up as pin up girls for a charity event you all got hooked into going to.
"You look incredible," you heard Bucky's voice dip lower.
Two sharp knocks on the door and Nat swung in, "You look great, babe! Let's go." She looked over and caught sight of Bucky and smirked, walking over to grab your hand and pull you with her.
"Nat I don't feel comfortable wearing this..." You spoke up, dreading the reaction from the others. You could feel Bucky's presence closely behind you all the way downstairs.
A whistle erupted from Sam and Steve had a smirk on his face with a slight blush.
"You girls look amazing!" Sam clapped.
Even more red, you dip your head a little.
Nat held you with her instead of being able to run away until you got there and inside. The party was filled with tons of people and music and short, tight and slutty costumes.
"We should make sure the girls are safe for the night." Steve frowned, looking over at a guy who started grinding on a girl.
"You guys do that! We'll go get some drinks together if you guys can grab us a table." Nat smirked, grabbing yours and Wanda's hands.
You each ordered drinks for you and for the guys and waited on the bartender.
"Damn!" You heard from nearby and two guys looked at the three of you, coming up. "Where do I sign up?"
"75 years ago." You heard Wanda smirk.
"Is that the same answer for you two?" They got closer.
You frowned, rolling your eyes.
"We came here to have a good time without you, so leave." Nat glared, putting her hand on her hip.
You nodded, waving goodbye as you turned around to grab two drinks.
"Let's have some fun," they insisted, stepping in front of where you guys were trying to walk.
"We said we aren't interested." You mustered.
"There you are, doll." A voice spoke from behind them, Bucky moving forward to place a hand gently on your back, "We grabbed the seats, we were wondering what happened to you guys." He glared towards the two, "These guys weren't bothering you, were they?"
The one frowned and looked like he wanted to say something but kept quiet and got led away by his friend.
"Thanks." You smiled to him, handing him his drink. "Perfect timing."
"Her hero." Nat mocked, leading the way back to the table.
“Finally!” Sam called, grabbing his drink, “If there’s slow service I’m going to grab another round.”
“I’ll help carry drinks!” Wanda smiled, taking his soon outstretched arm.
“Let’s dance, Rogers!” Nat started, cornering a very nervous Steve who started weaving through the place trying to dodge her.
You chuckled, lightening up a little and turning towards Bucky. “You wanna dance, Buck?”
“That’s my line, doll.” He smirked, offering his arm to lead you both out to the dance floor.
“Go easy on me, now, you know how my coordination is.” You giggled, having him swing you back and forth for a few seconds before the music cut into a slower song. You turned to leave and Bucky held tight.
“We haven’t finished a full song yet.” He smirked mischievously.
“My slow dancing skills are 100% worse than my fast dancing skills,” You scoffed, trying to look down at his feet.
“My eyes are up here, doll.” He mocked a little, you meeting his eyes. He mouthed some of the movements for you and led more with his hand to let you know which direction he was going. “That wasn’t so bad, was it?”
You shook your head, “I had a pretty good leader though.”
You met everyone back at the table and Sam had brought more drinks, as promised.
“You guys are going to love what Nat did.” Sam chuckled.
“Oh no.” You both said in almost complete unison.
“Yeah.” Wanda nodded, shaking her head in Nat’s direction as well.
“Ladies and gentlemen- we hope you’re having a wonderful evening! Please enjoy refreshments and appetizers around the room, as well as those items up for auction in the next room! A little bird just told me we got a generous donation from the Avengers!”
“What did you do?”
“She auctioned a date with each one of us off.” Wanda crossed her arms over her chest.
“What?” You squeaked.
“Oh, relax, it’s not like anyone knows it’s us.” Nat snorted slightly.
“Think again.” Steve nodded towards Sam, who was standing near the table, explaining why to bid on him, and then he pointed towards your group after attracting some attention.
You lowered your head, “Oh my god, I’m going to have a panic attack.”
"It'll be fun, come on!" Nat winked, waving towards a couple of people that looked towards her.
"I'm going to find out who allowed her to sign us up without a waver." Wanda frowned.
You sat down, trying to focus on your drink in front of you. "Maybe you'll get someone you end up liking!" Nat spoke up, nudging you.
"I don't wanna go on a date with someone I don't know." You spoke quietly, trying to calm your nerves. Steve and Bucky sat down as well not looking too pleased with the concept.
---------
Everyone else had gone up besides you and Buck in pairs to be auctioned off, you both stood behind stage now waiting to go up.
“It’ll be okay, doll. I called in a favor.” Buck smirked, squeezing your hand to comfort you.
You look at him confused and he chuckles in advance having you look out with him and see Happy standing near the front of everyone and looking very unhappy. You and Buck both laughed backstage before you get called up and Buck had you take his arm.
Over all the commotion in the room his arm was what was grounding you, the bidding process started and you were still very nervous.
Happy unhappily bid over everyone for you and Buck, getting a boo from a couple of people but he rolled his eyes and kept bidding.
“See not so bad-” Bucky turned to you afterwards once you were offstage.
“Not so bad at all,” You smirked to him and then took him into a hug, “Thanks Buck, I appreciate it.”
“My pleasure,” He hugged you back, “And hey, now that we’re both out of the dates you wanna grab some food or something?” He asks as he starts leading you back to your group.
“Yes! There’s this amazing place right up the street and they’re open super late,” You got a stare from the table as you got back.
“Where was our dig out?” Wanda crossed her arms, looking very unhappy.
“Shoulda asked your partner,” You shrugged, giving Buck a small wink.
Bucky nodded, “We’re off to dinner nearby, you all enjoy the dates that Nat set up.” He reminded, helping you grab your stuff.
-------
You both walk out and go grab food, he made you feel super comfortable and you had a blast, ending the night with late night mini golf (you lost your shoes around the second hole) and ice cream before getting back.
“This was the best date ever,” You giggled, stopping in front of your door. “Thanks again Buck.”
“Thanks for going with me doll,” He scratches his neck, a blush coming into his cheeks before he clears his throat, “You wanna do this again sometime?”
You blush a bit, trying not to get the wrong idea, “We can hang out whenever you like, Buck.”
He stutters a bit, “I was hoping it would be another date.” His blush deepens and your does too as you understand what he’s hinting at.
“That works too,” You try to say bravely, meeting his eyes with a smile and a blush.
You lean in to kiss him on the cheek and he turns to meet your lips, both of you deepening the kiss for a minute.
“I’m glad one of our dates worked out,” Wanda frowned as she walked down the hall with Steve in tow, also looking unhappy.
You pull back and look over at them, “The jerk tried to grab my ass so I had to pummel him.”
Even Steve didn’t speak up on the language portion.
Tony pops up from the other end of the hallway and Wanda and Steve zero in on him, “You save two of us and not the rest?!” She shrieks as he slowly backs up and tries to leave, they both chase him down.
“Yikes,” You cringe, “Thanks for using your favor.”
“Anytime, doll.” He smiles to you, kissing you again.
Nat was right, you did end up with someone you liked.

"I got it," You spoke as you opened Grace's door three days later. You stopped as you saw that there was Tony sitting there with Happy and Pepper nearby (always do a little research on people). "Oh," you bit your lip, "Hey- no wonder this place seems busy." You nod to everyone.
"Y/N!" Grace spoke, "Tony came by to check on me, I told him you were coming by so he said he'd stay and say hi!"
"Hi," Tony smiled and waved.
"Hey," You stated ," what's going on?” You moved further into the room.
“Just talking about the party coming up, wanted to make sure it was coming smoothly for everyone.” Tony smirked, “What are you up to?”
“Not much,” You sat on the side of Grace’s bed, setting your things down including a cup of coffee on the end table. “Just got out of work. Well, sort of.” You rolled your eyes as another text came through that you sorted through before looking back up.
“Perfect timing, when you’re finished hanging out with Grace we can go out.” Tony kicked his feet up to a small table near him and grinned.
Grace squealed slightly and you held up a finger and shook your head, “Oh no no no, I’m on call for the rest of the day. I’m hanging with Grace and then heading home, Stark.”
“I can get you around town faster than anyone if you need to, Y/L/N.” He joked back with the same last name call. “Besides I left you be the last few days, this is payback.”
“Stark you’ve texted me at least half a dozen times each day, including but not limited to a random text of Dad jokes.” You smirked, looking back at Grace, “I think I found our outfits for the party by the way.”
“Really?!” She got excited, sitting up and bouncing, “I thought for a second you were gonna say you got more dogs.”
You chuckled, leaning further into the bed to pull your phone out “You know I would lead with that, silly. Here, what do you think?”
Her eyes checked the screen and they practically popped out of her head, “Woahhhh these are awesome!”
“And they come in different colors so we can match or be different.” You smirked again, looking at her face, “You really like them?”
She nodded, “Yes! Seriously super cool!”
“Awesome, let me know what color you want and I’ll order them for us.” You bookmarked the tab and waited for a second before meeting eyes with Tony who was looking at you curiously, “What?”
He shook his head, a giant smirk crawling across his face, “Nothing, just letting you guys chat.” He stood, “I’m going to make a drink run, what do you want?”
“Iced tea please!” Grace called, clearly most of her shyness with Tony was out the window.
“Of course,” He bowed, “And for you?”
“I’m good with what I’ve got but thanks.” You smiled, lifting up your cup to show there was still drink in it.
He chuckled, walking close to you and leaning in. “Come on, you aren’t going to even let me get a round of drinks?” He paused in front of your face, looking down at your lips and biting his before grabbing the cup out of your hand and looking at the order on the side of the cup. “Got it.” He smirked with a wink as he handed it back, you waited for the three of them to leave before letting out a breath you didn’t know you were holding.
“What a jerk.” You exhaled.
“I think he likes you. Likes you, likes you.” Grace raised her eyebrows.
You gave a tight smile, shaking your head, “He acts like that with everyone.”
“Not me.”
“Everyone of a …. Certain age.” You winked, picking up your cup and running through shoes and accessories with Grace. You received another text from work and answered it as you two were in the beginning of a movie, which Grace fell asleep during- leaning against you as she breathed.
“Back!” Tony popped in and then threw a hand over his mouth, “Oops.”
You smirked, shaking your head slightly. “Took you long enough.”
“I figured I would give you some time together.” He smirked back, raising the cup of coffee to you.
You huffed a sigh as you took the cup, “Thanks.”
He leaned down and held his face sideways in front of your face.
“What are you doing?”
“You kiss Grace goodbye, I think I’ve earned a kiss on the cheek.”
“I don’t think so.” You scoffed.
“Fine.” He turned and kissed you on the cheek quickly before moving to the other side of the bed and setting down the iced tea for Grace.
“Excuse me, Stark.” Your jaw was agape, taking a second for your shock to wear off.
He smirked, “Hey Grace, I’m going to head out.” He kissed her on the head as she shifted, a smile coming on her face, “Let me know when Y/N leaves, will ya?”
She nodded, opening her eyes wider.
“Seriously Grace, you’re a traitor!” You chuckled slightly, sliding down in the bed and covering your face with your hands.
“See you soon, Y/L/N.” He waved.
“We’ll see about that, Stark.” You shot back as he opened the door.
You ran through some more picking of accessories and shoes with Grace as it was harder than you thought to find things you both liked but kind of matched. You settled on different shoes and purses and the same bracelet and necklace, that way you could wear the necklaces after and still match.
You walked out of the room a little while later and passed Dottie in the hall, stopping and chatting with her for a few minutes. It would be great if she and you ever had the same time or days off you usually just ran into her here.
You were about to head into the parking garage and you received an incoming call from work. Taking it, you learned about a new case that would require you to head to. You asked them to send you the address to your phone and walked quickly to your car.
"Need a lift?" Stark spoke from the hood of your car where he was seated.
"I may need to drive on this one, Stark." You smirked, a little stressed that you were being called in again this week. You paused, standing in front of him, "you have a way to call your suit?"
"Always," he lifted his wrist and tapped on his bracelet.
You bit your lip, "You wanna ride out with me at least?" You paused as he was clearly not expecting this, "I'll even let you ride shotgun." You smirked, getting into the driver's seat as he slowly moved to get into the passenger side.
"So you don't hate me." Tony spoke up after you started the car and loaded up directions to the site.
"I never said I hated you." You pointed out, "I wouldn't have invited you into my house if I did."
He didn't comment any further but bit his lip as a smirk came into his face. You couldn't help a small smirk pop onto your face too as you both talked on the way to the site.
"So is there someone else on the Avengers that Grace would like to meet?" Tony spoke.
You thought for a few moments, "I think she'd be happy with any of the team honestly," you giggled, "she keeps track of all of you. Maybe favoring Wanda or Captain America slightly higher? I don't know though, Stark. She seems to like you quite a bit too." You look over and immediately roll your eyes.
"I am the best, I can't blame her." He chuckled, seeming to look about your car.
"I know, it could be cleaner," You smirk to him, "I've been meaning to clean it but haven't gotten around to it."
"It's practically clean," Tony laughed, "Plus I like it. The papers around and charger makes it feel…. Lived in."
You giggled, "if you say so."
You both talk for a few more minutes and he stops, "So when is our date gonna happen?"
You sigh, shaking your head as you wait for a turn. "How about we consider this a 15 minute date since you're so adamant?"
"That's lame," He smirks, "Besides the fact you're driving there's not even any food."
"Depending on what time I get out how about I text you and grab some of my favorite food in the city?" You slowly get closer to your destination and you pull over about a block away, "Deal?"
"I'll be waiting." Tony smirks, leaning in and hovering, "May I kiss you on the cheek?"
You blush, not expecting it. "Err, I guess."
He leans even closer to your face and hovers just slightly, "I'll wait until it's not a guess next time." Tony smirks, pulling away and getting out. "Thanks for the ride, let me know when you're out and at least that you're safe." Tony pat the roof and shut the door, walking away from the direction you were headed.
You gave a small smile, as much as you hated to admit it Tony did seem to at least try to care. You weren't sure why he was putting so much effort into trying to be around you but… he seemed like a pretty nice guy.
You pulled into the scene and pulled out your ID to continue inside, gauging any entrance points to this part of the apartment complex before walking up three flights of stairs. Getting closer to the room your eyes scanned the area, trying to see if anything looked out of place.
"Y/L/N, welcome to the party." Giles called from a spot he was leaning over.
You nod towards him, "Robbery and… attempted manslaughter?" You noted there was no body left at the scene and tons of smudges and gauze remnants and trash left on the floor near an area. You fidget with the gloves on your hands, it's pretty hot and they're already sticking in spots.
"EMTs first on scene at 17:28 , called from a neighboring apartment from some 'screams and a loud thump'. Neighbor thought it may have been domestic but vic lives alone." Giles stands and moves closer to you to share what he has so far even though he couldn't have been here more than 10 minutes sooner than you.
You walk towards the door and check the lock and the frame, and continue with any windows in the place, observing any entrance points. "Not seeing signs of forced entry but honestly the door and windows wouldn't be hard to open." You frown slightly, "We haven't talked with the office yet?"
Giles shakes his head, "Not yet."
"I'll go see if we can get a full layout of the apartment, if it differs from neighbouring apartments, any surveillance at doors as well as a layout of this building and any connecting points to other buildings. And parking lot surveillance as well if possible although doubtful," you look out the window and note a few places around that may have surveillance that may catch a bit of the entrance to the parking lot- this was gonna be a long night.

-----------------------
Early the next morning you were awake, getting together the morning steps or breakfast on your own in the kitchen. You quickly made your way through and served the guests in their rooms and then grabbed Bruce’s food, making your way as quietly as possible up to ensure people did not see how long it may take in case you needed to assist him with hiding damage.
You set the tray down and opened the heavy curtains, getting some light in the room. Bruce did not seem to budge at all and you came up to him to shake him slightly.
“Mr. Wayne,” You tried to nudge him slightly, he turned a little and you saw some marks across his back, chest and then face around bandages covered in blood
“-going to kill me-” He muttered and your brow furrowed.
“Who?” You tried to ask softly, waiting. Your eyes swept across him again and you blushed.
After another half a minute, “Y/N,” Was muttered softly. “Y/N is going to kill me for breaking this equipment.”
You broke into a grin, silently chuckling, Was that all? “Bruce-” You tried again, grabbing his shoulder.
His eyes opened, his attention snapping immediately towards you, “Y/N.” He sat up, directly towards you and you had to almost dodge back slightly.
“Are you alright? These look pretty painful…” You grimaced as you pointed towards a few as you pulled your hand away from his shoulder.
He immediately caught your wrist and kept you nearby, seemingly still waking. He held you where you were leaning over him for almost a minute before reaching up and tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, “You look exhausted.”
“So do you.” You answered without pause, looking him back in his eyes.
He must have finally realized he was holding you close and let your hand go but not before you thought you saw some pink come into his cheeks. You stood up, grabbing his food tray and bringing it over to him.
“Care to recap the events of last night, or will I have to wait until later to hear the tale of the epic adventure?” You placed the food tray in front of him and waited for his answer.
He seemed content taking some food slowly, nodding for you to sit on the other side of the tray. “I set up the last transmitter and checked in with the Asylum. There are a few more people broken out but I believe I have found evidence of the Joker in an area. I moved towards the area to canvas-”
“You mean rush in,” You state, giving him a smirk when he looked up at you with a slight wince. “Can be a good thing, you know but it can also get you into trouble.” He looked over your face, seemingly mesmerized for a moment, “Continue…” You pushed slightly as you waited for him to finish a few more bites of food after he finally stopped looking at you.
“Indeed I did go in,” He smirked slightly before continuing, “Where I found the White Rabbit. She seemed to be sitting at a table. Only at the other side of the table was the Joker who spun on me as I walked in.”
You frowned, clasping your hands in your lap and relooking over the wounds you could see all the way down his chest… Your eyes snapped back to his, trying to gauge.
He gulped, “If not for your equipment I would be dead.” He looked down, seeming to be upset enough to not eat anymore. “I started in a fight with him and halfway through she came in- I threw a smoke grenade and punched the Joker- but his face shaped around my fist, it was not Joker but Clayface.”
Your breath caught as your emotions ran through. You waited for him to finish his tale and he did, explaining how if not being able to get away quickly he would not have made it out, much less back.
“I am glad the upgrades helped you, Bruce.” You nodded and then he stood. He walked a step closer to you and held out his hand. You took it while meeting his eye, shaking his hand.
“I owe you a great debt, Y/N.” He pulled you up to him, slowly getting closer to you as your heartbeat picked up, going to racing as he got closer yet and you froze and stood absolutely still. His head slid over your shoulder as he leaned down and his arms moved around your arms as he hugged you. “Thank you for finding us. Thank you for finding me, Y/N.”
You waited for a moment before lifting a hand and slightly patting him on his back, “There is not a debt to be owed, sir-”
He snorts, “You save me time and time again and yet alone I am sir again.”
“Bruce-” You speak, your heartbeat almost near exploding and your cheeks a heavy red. “I do need to get back in case someone calls, Alfred is still asleep I believe.”
He takes another moment before pulling back and nodding, leaning his forehead against yours and you gasp.
“You’re burning up!” You exclaim, “Why did you not say something earlier?” You ask, slightly annoyed that he woke to speak so much with you.
“That’s my girl, asking those great questions again.” He smirks, his eyes slightly closing and his body wavering. You catch him, your arms supporting him as you help move him back to bed. You grab a cloth and some water and come back to his room, mentioning something to Alfred who was back in the kitchen.
“I can cover well enough if you can stay with him for the remainder of the morning.” Alfred frowned, “I did as best as I could with his wounds.” He lowered his voice, “Maybe I should rebandage-”
“I can grab the spares Alfred.” You gave him a soft smile, “I will change them.”
Alfred frowned, “They are covering his chest however-”
You moved closer and pat Alfred on the cheek, “Alfred, I will have to get used to it if either of us are expected to get sleep some nights. I will call you if anything looks to need additional help, I promise.”
He nodded, a little distracted but seemed to be content with you going up.
You grabbed the supplies you needed and made your way as quickly and quietly through the halls as possible, closing the door and locking it behind you back at Bruce’s room. You walked to his bed as you set the basin down and filled it with water, grabbing a cloth and wringing it before setting it on his forehead.
You worked through with another cloth and some new bandages to remove the ones covering his chest and cleaned the wounds, checking to make sure nothing new was bleeding. It looked to be overall taken care of, thanks to Alfred’s expert hand. You waited with him, leaning against the end table close by.
“Y/N-” A soft voice broke through and you shot up, Bruce half leaning over your body.
“I am so sorry,” You brushed your hair back, “How are you feeling?”
“Better. Do me two favors though-”
“Yes, sir.”
“Three favors, then-” He smiled, “Please go check the bolt on the door to be sure it is locked along with the window.”
You stood and moved to the door, verifying the bolt was locked indeed before nodding over to him and doing the same at the window, seeing the sun bleeding in- it must not have been noon yet.
“Draw the curtain on the window and on the bed on all sides.” You did, the room becoming darker but the bed becoming very dark as you pulled back a corner to ask if he needed anything else.
“The third and most important,” Bruce said, beaconing you nearer him and you obliged, “Do not call me sir while we are alone-” His face was serious, a look coming over his face as he placed his hand around your wrist.
“Sorry s-” You looked down, “Bruce… Habit.”
He nodded, his eyes seemed to be looking at you but it was hard to see again. “Now go to the other side of the bed, get some sleep.”
You startled at what you heard and pulled back slightly, him holding your wrist fast.
“Before you argue- we both know you need sleep as much as I do. You are still performing your job and with everything locked and drawn no one should be able to see you.”
“But-”
“And this is a large bed, I won’t even touch you. You have nothing to fear from me, Y/N- I hope you would know that.”
“Of course-”
“Then it is settled.” He let go of your wrist and gestured towards the other side of the bed. You slowly pulled back and pushed the curtain back down, slowly walking towards the other side of the bed. You moved the curtain after another few moments and shifted onto the bed, laying on the furthest edge you could, your head low as you roll your figure into the very bottom corner of the foot of the bed.
“You better not be doing anything ridiculous.” Bruce muttered before falling quiet again.
You stayed quiet, not sure of what to do. You weren’t uncomfortable necessarily but that’s what scared you. Something like this could ruin reputations, and not just yours. While Bruce was known as a playboy could you imagine the types of people that would apply for any hired help needed- people after his fame or money. You contemplated what could happen until you drifted off some time later.
You felt yourself waking before opening your eyes, shifting your hand under your head more as you realized you did not have a pillow. You snapped up once you remembered what happened and looked around in utter darkness. You tried to fall back and realized you were no longer on the far corner of this bed, you started to curse yourself under your own breath.
“Are you awake?” You heard from the other side of the room before footfalls and a curtain being drawn. Dim light poured in and you realized it was Bruce.
“You’re supposed to be in bed-”
“I’ve gotten enough sleep. You needed more of it though, after all you slept in an uncomfortable ball in the corner for who knows how long. I brought you to the middle when I got up,” he leaned in and his hand rested on your cheek. “Good, it seems your temperature has also gone down.”
“I am not the one-”
“We both need to be rested- forgive me.” He shifted, sitting next to you and looking down. He broke into a small grin looking over you.
You broke into one as well, “I probably look a mess-” You went to sit up and his hand brushed a strand of hair out of your face again.
“You’re absolutely beautiful.” He stated.
Your cheeks went immediate red and your heart raced again, trying to come up with something witty or a retort of some kind. “I appreciate the gesture but I believe you tell all of your visitors to this room the same.” You gave a small smirk, trying to play off the comment.
“It has been used, although rarely- I believe this is the first time I am using it to someone I believe I l...” His hand traces over you again, clearing his throat, “You are the most intelligent, forward thinking person I know, Y/N.”
A blush formed over you again, your heart racing. "I appreciate that Bruce…" you muster quietly. "I should go help Alfred." You start moving by and Bruce catches your hand, pulling you towards him and holding you in front of him.
Your heart raced even more as you start to look up into his face and he's closer to you than you realize. His breath is hot on your face and if you shift anymore your lips would meet with his.
"Will you let Alfred know I will be delayed in coming down to the cave tonight?" He states softly, slowly pulling back with a reserved look on his face.
"Yes, Mr.-" you stop yourself, "Bruce." You state softly, turning back to leave once again.
Once you were out of the room you turned down the hall and started making your way towards the kitchen.
You stop in your tracks, spotting a flash of white out of the corner of your eye in a room. You go to look closer at the door and hear some low speaking in the room between a female and male.
A figure came to the door and you tried to make it look like you were walking past, someone covering your mouth and pulling you inside.
You tried to scream into the hand and your eyes widened as you saw the White Rabbit, Ms. Hudson, without a mask talking to the Joker himself.
"Looks like Wayne's pet got in too deep," a low chuckle from Joker as he pulls out a gun.
"Wait," Ms. Hudson spoke, "she could be useful to get Wayne to come along nicely."
"Lucky you," Joker smirked as his gun came towards your head and you blacked out.

“We shouldn't, right? It’d be too cruel,” Natasha asked warily.
“Nat, they have so many things in common, and frankly I am tired of their bitter rivalry over every little thing. We can’t finish a game of Uno without things getting contentious. And god forbid that they end up on the opposite team for charades,” Sam said. “Would giving them a chance at meeting outside of our game nights be so bad?”
“No, but you know how they get when they’re left alone.”
“Bitter and argumentative, sure, but maybe there’s a hidden spark just waiting to ignite into a blazing passionate fire.”
Nat looked at Sam incredulously, “I think you’re doing this to get back at Barnes for flirting with your sister.”
Sam smiled sheepishly, “Well why did you offer to set her up on the blind date to begin with? You were fully on board at one point.”
“I just feel like there is something there that they’re not seeing, and I have a strong sense that if given the chance, it could work out really well. Plus Bucky’s not a bad guy, and after the dates she’s been on — well I trust him at least a little bit.”
“And at the end of the day it will be a really funny story if it backfires,” Sam said cheekily.
Nat sighed, a knowing smirk playing on her lips, “Yeah, can’t argue with that.”
┈┈┈┈┈・・
You walked up to the doors of the restaurant with purpose. Your best friends Nat and Sam had set you up on a blind date, and while the thought of that was unnerving, you trusted their judgment. Blind dates were a fun way of meeting people, or so you told yourself, and at the very least you knew that the mystery man was vetted by reliable people, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
With a deep breath you opened the door and walked towards the hostess.
“Hello, do you have a reservation?” the cheery wide-eyed brunette asked.
“I believe my date is already here. Is there a man in a blue shirt waiting for someone? I was told that’s what he would be wearing,” you said.
“Yes, of course. He got in a few minutes ago, told me to expect a woman in a burgundy dress,” she said as she took in your attire. “Right this way,” she said gleefully before quickly grabbing a couple menus and walking you towards a candlelit corner booth.
You couldn’t see the man given the angle of the booth, but the moment you arrived at the table you were filled with instant regret.
“And here we are, your waiter will be right out in a second,” the jovial hostess said before giving you a sly wink and leaving you to be.
You were met with familiar blue eyes that looked just as bewildered as yours.
“You’ve got to be kidding me. You?!” you exclaimed at your annoying foe.
“I’ve got to be kidding? What the hell are you doing here?”
You huffed out a breath before sliding into the seat across from Bucky. “Obviously this is some kind of punishment aimed at you for taking things too far last Saturday.”
He ran a hand through his hair, “When I play charades, I play to win, you know this.”
“I know, but did you have to nearly flip Sam’s coffee table?”
“This isn’t worth rehashing, what do we do, just go home?” he asked.
“I’m hungry, and while I could go find something to eat elsewhere, we’re already here. Can you keep it together without any drama for a little while?” you asked sarcastically.
“Only if you can,” he said with a raised brow.
“Great, I’ll just need a lot of wine, but then I’ll be good to go.”
“Perfect, let’s get a bottle or two,” he said before flagging down a waiter.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
“Some prank huh?” you muttered after placing both your food and drink order because you had no intention of prolonging the night.
“I know this is Sam’s way of getting back at me for something.”
“Yeah no doubt, but I’m not sure what I did to deserve this.”
“Right, because you’re perfect,” Bucky said drily.
“Exactly.”
Bucky leaned back and looked at you with a tight smile. “So what do we do to get back at them? I don’t think they should get away with setting us up on a date that they knew wouldn’t work out.”
“Whoa, I’m a damn delight, this could’ve worked out if you were anyone else.”
Bucky pinched the bridge of his nose. “Why are you like this? I only agreed to this because Sam said this girl was unlike any I’d dated before. I didn’t think he’d mean it so literally.”
You furrowed your brows. “The hell is that supposed to mean?”
He rolled his eyes, “Nothing bad, I just usually got along with my exes, at least for a while. You and I, on the other hand, have never gotten along.”
You nodded your head, “Yeah that’s true.” You paused for a minute as the waiter brought out your wine and poured it into your glasses, leaving behind the bottle.
After taking a few gulps, “Maybe you were right, I mean you pulled out an iron for that shirt, we can’t let them get away with this,” you said jokingly.
“Thank you for noticing,” he said as he subconsciously ran his hands over his nicely pressed shirt. “So what are we thinking? We could TP their house,” he said before taking a big swig of his wine.
You scoffed, “Bucky, how old are you?”
“Well give us an idea, smartypants.”
You sighed, taking a moment to contemplate. Unfortunately, you realized every option would be juvenile. “Ugh I don’t know. Sadly, the mature thing to do would be to pretend like this didn’t affect us so that they don’t get the reaction they hoped for.”
“That’s lame,” he said as your waiter brought out your food.
“So is their prank,” you muttered before taking a bite of your pasta.
The two of you ate in silence for a little bit because neither of you knew how to speak to each other companionably. It was always quips, retorts, and sarcastic remarks that fueled your conversations.
After a beat, you asked, “Did you pick out the restaurant?”
Bucky furrowed his brow, “Why, do you hate it?”
Your eyes widened, “No, I actually really like it.”
“Oh,” he chuckled in surprise. “I did, it’s my favorite spot for good Italian food.”
“Ah, well you’ve got decent taste — at least in food,” you said with a small smirk.
He tugged at his bottom lip, trying to suppress a smile. “Do you want more wine?”
“Yes please.”
Heat rose to your cheeks as the effects of the wine were finally making itself known. With one bottle down and another on the way, you felt a little more at ease in Bucky’s presence.
“I don’t know why Nat would set me up with you, no offense — like she knows that I just got out of something a little messy.”
Bucky’s eyes softened as he looked at you. “I know Sam is doing this to mess with me, but I can’t figure out what Nat’s thought process was in all of this. She’s usually so protective of you.”
“Yeah, I guess I’ll have to be more weary of her,” you said timidly. If you were completely sober you would shrug this off as a silly prank, but you weren’t and it was hard to process why your friend would mess with you in an area in which she knew you held many trust issues.
Before you could ponder any further, the waiter reemerged, pouring more wine for the two of you. The two of you happily drank some more, not completely hating the date any longer.
“You know what would be kind of funny?” Bucky mumbled more to himself.
“Hmm?”
“If we pretended that this date was amazing and that we liked each other after it.”
“Like liked each other?” you asked in surprise.
He let out a laugh, “Yes, like we felt a spark and decided to keep seeing each other.”
You giggled, “They’d never see that coming! But that would be hard to pull off.”
“I know,” Bucky blushed at the thought.
“Regardless, you can’t seem to keep your cool around me when you’re sober, so it would never work.”
Bucky huffed out a breath, “Yeah that’s true, plus you despise me and start arguments for no reason whenever given the chance,” he shrugged.
You scoffed, “Right, I’m argumentative for absolutely no reason and you never upset me on purpose,” you muttered.
“That’s exactly right,” he said matter-of-factly.
“I don’t know why you live to agitate me, I could totally keep it together and do it convincingly too.”
“Correction, you live to annoy me, and I know I could keep it together way better than you,” he said, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Wanna bet?” you blurted out.
Bucky’s eyebrows raised, his interest was piqued. “Bet?”
“We do the pretend thing to mess with Nat and Sam — the first to back out loses.”
Bucky narrowed his eyes as he considered the proposition; it would be a good way to get back at Sam. And he would take that bet on principle just to prove you wrong and show you that you were the irrational one, but he knew something else was needed to make it more interesting.
“What’s at stake? If we’re going to pretend to like each other in front of our friends it’s gotta be worthwhile.”
“Loser has to clean the winner’s place for a month.”
“Make it two months with laundry included and you’ve got yourself a deal. I could use the break.”
You snickered as you reached for your wine glass once more. “Yeah, and when I win you can enjoy the extra month of cleaning you’ll have to do at my place and yours.”
Bucky tilted his head, “Are we really doing this, or what?”
You extended your hand, “Two months of cleaning for whoever bails or starts drama first.”
He stretched out his hand, engulfing yours completely — and thus commenced the charade.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
You woke up feeling dehydrated and hungover; you needed a painkiller and a giant cup of water to quell the throbbing in your head. Begrudgingly getting up to retrieve that from your kitchen was a difficult endeavor, but it certainly helped you feel a bit better afterwards. Once your head felt a little less heavy you thought back to the bet you made with Bucky. Even though you were drunk then, it wasn’t difficult to remember every detail of the conversation now.
In the light of day you started to feel uncertain about following through with it, and you wondered if Bucky was going to bring it up himself. You wouldn’t be mad if he didn’t, but as you put some bread in the toaster you felt your phone buzz in your pocket.
Bucky: Hi sugarplum, honey pie…
Well shit, he remembered. There was no way you were going to back down now.
Y/N: Workshopping nicknames are we?
Bucky: Duh. I’m in it to win it, muffin.
Y/N: Okay good for you, but why are you texting me? There’s no one around to see.
Bucky: Nat didn’t text you?
You were about to type that she had not, but your phone began to buzz at that moment. Speaking of the devil, it was Nat calling to likely see how her crappy set-up went. Before answering you reminded yourself that you didn’t want to be Bucky’s housekeeper.
You soon found out that Sam had already spoken to Bucky and that Nat was checking to confirm if you really were good to grab coffee in an hour. She seemed genuinely excited to hear that things went well with Bucky, which confused you immensely. Nat even claimed that she knew something was there, but before you could ask her to elaborate on that she had to run. Before hanging up, you agreed to meet up with them.
So much for coasting for a few days before having to play pretend.
Before you could grumble about it too much you remembered that you had to text Bucky back before getting ready. You pulled up your messages and quickly typed out your response.
Y/N: Nat called, I guess I’ll be seeing you soon.
Bucky: Right, I was going to ask if you wanted me to pick you up on my way.
You couldn’t tell if he was being nice or whether he was trying to further prolong your suffering, but you had a feeling it was the latter.
Y/N: Fine.
Bucky: Cool, I’ll text you before I leave, babygirl :P
You rolled your eyes at your screen.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
Bucky pulled up to your place wearing a bright smile ten minutes before you were set to meet up with the other couple.
“What are you so happy about?” you asked as you buckled your seatbelt.
“I’m just really looking forward to the upcoming two months of chore-free living, that’s all. Seeing you reminded me of what a great break I’m about to get.”
You scoffed, “Wow, well I wouldn’t be too sure about that yet, Barnes.”
“Barnes? No pet name for me, doll?” he asked cheekily.
“I’ll think about it. Can we just save the talking for when we get to the coffee shop? I don’t even know why we’re doing this today.”
“Steve and Sharon are out of town, so game night is pushed to tomorrow. Guess Sam and Nat still wanted to see us, and I think they’re also trying to confirm that we’re a thing.”
“Well I am looking forward to messing with them about that,” you mumbled.
Bucky hummed in agreement, “Same, but let’s see how long you can hold out.”
“All I know is it’ll be longer than you.”
Bucky scoffed as he turned a corner, “Right, just try not to fall in love with me while you’re at it.”
You snorted, “Shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Why’s that?” he asked with a self-assured smirk on his face. Bucky loved to mess with you, mainly because you were the only one that could keep up with him.
You huffed a breath, “Because, I like my men a little less dick-ish.”
“Ah, yes, that would be an issue then,” he said as he parked his car. After a second, he turned towards you with a smug smile, “But is too much dick, really that bad?”
Groaning internally, you tried to rush out of the vehicle, ready for a moment away from him already. But Bucky was too quick, and he was there to help you out of the car once your door was open. You mumbled a thank you and moved to get across the street, but in your haste to get away, you tripped and stumbled onto the road.
“Y/N!” Bucky shouted. He quickly grabbed your hand and tugged you back just as a cyclist zoomed past, barely missing you.
All too fast, you heard a whiz of air and a shouting of expletives from the cyclist before you were roughly pulled against Bucky’s broad chest. “Shit!” you exclaimed, as you tried to recover your balance.
“Are you alright?” Bucky asked as he placed his hands on your shoulders to steady you. He looked at you with concern, only now noticing the stunning hue of your eyes. He unconsciously brushed his thumb over your cheekbone, hoping to calm you, or perhaps himself as he took in your beauty.
Your heart raced as you stared into his sparkling blue eyes. And when you took a deep breath to calm yourself, you accidentally inhaled his warm cologne — like sandalwood and vanilla. Wow, did he always smell that good?
Shaking your head and coming back to your senses, you finally found your voice. “This isn’t Fifty Shades of Grey. Thank you for saving me but I’m not going to gaze longingly into your eyes.” You only hoped that he wouldn’t bring up the fact that you had essentially done that already.
Bucky slowly released the grip he had on you, finally remembering where he was. “You sure? Could be good practice?” he said with a soft smirk on his lips. He was too mesmerized to call you out on that little moment, he was too caught up in you.
You released a breath, before nodding your head. “I’m sure.”
“Okay, well then it’s time to go put on a show. Is it alright if I hold your hand, for appearances of course?” Bucky didn’t tell you that he only wanted to make sure that you crossed the street safely. He was feeling unexpectedly protective over you after that adrenaline-inducing moment, and he was grateful when you wordlessly slipped your hand into his.
As you crossed the street together, Bucky felt a weird sensation in his chest — and that worried him more than he cared to admit.
Once you arrived in front of the coffee shop’s door, you both shared a knowing look. Plastering a fake smile on your face, you stepped inside as he held the door open for you. “Thank you, boo bear,” you said, looking back with a wink.
Bucky looked at you in surprise. Oh, so she’s not going to make this easy on me.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
“So you guys really hit it off, huh?” Sam asked curiously as you curled up next to Bucky in the wooden booth.
Sam’s narrowed eyes showed his disbelief, but Nat appeared smitten and excited for whatever response you were going to give.
“We did, what can I say?” you said gleefully as you looked into Bucky’s eyes. He tried to contain a smile, but failed miserably. You were too good at this, and he knew he had to put in some work to keep up.
“It was strange,” Bucky chimed in. “It was like I saw her for the first time last night. Suddenly, all of our petty arguments seemed ridiculous.” You looked over at him suspiciously as he spoke all too convincingly. He continued, “She was wearing this burgundy dress that looked so gorgeous on her, and I knew then that I wanted her. And of course, let’s not forget, she’s always challenged me like no other. She makes me want to be a better man. So thanks so much for the set up, Samuel,” he said with a charming smile.
Nat listened attentively to every word, as Sam sat still, finding it all hard to believe. Bucky and you were practically sworn enemies from almost the moment you crossed paths. Sam knew Bucky’s aversion was because he thought you were an “exasperating wisecrack.” And Nat knew your disdain stemmed from the first rude encounter you had with Bucky, where he told you he thought you were an “annoying know-it-all.”
From those early moments he couldn’t stand you, and you had trouble speaking with him without getting upset. Undoubtedly, it was petty and based off of the most trivial encounter, but it magnified over time. Game nights with the gang only amplified your animosity, which continued to grow through seemingly every interaction you both shared.
“Yes, thank you Nat. Seeing Bucky all cleaned up last night, looking so handsome, just did something to me. I knew then that I had to have him,” you said, groaning internally as you spoke.
Sam nodded his head, seemingly convinced. “Well, I’m happy for you both. You guys deserve something good.” The two of you together wasn’t entirely implausible, because despite the surface hostility, he knew you both respected each other.
“I guess this means game nights are going to look a little different too then, huh?” Nat asked teasingly.
Bucky looked at you, “Of course, we’re on the same team now. Isn’t that right, baby?”
“So true, bunny,” you said as you looked into his cerulean eyes.
Nat spoke up, “I am loving this, so so much! I cannot wait until tomorrow night.”
“Me too,” Bucky mumbled.
“Me three,” you said, lying through your teeth.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
The ride home was uncharacteristically quiet. Neither you nor Bucky had anything to say to each other. You were starting to feel a little weird about the bet, mainly because it wasn’t exceedingly hard to uphold. Playing nice wasn’t nearly as difficult as you imagined it’d be, and that felt strange. It’s not that you loved Bucky’s company, but you didn’t hate it as much as you usually did either.
Bucky was feeling his own version of unusual, because he too realized that sustaining the bet was too easy. He had been fairly honest, and he realized when he spoke of how beautiful you looked the night before, that he meant every word. Hopefully, things will change at game night.
He still felt compelled to check on you despite his desire to win. After parking in front of your place, he turned to you. “Are you sure you want to keep doing this? We can come clean before game night because I’m pretty sure we’ve convinced them and made up for their prank.”
“Is that your way of attempting to quit?” you asked curiously. Sure, you felt odd, but you were still in it to win it.
Bucky huffed out of breath, “No, I was giving you an out in case this isn’t something you wanted to do anymore. We could call off the bet and have no winner or loser if you want.”
“That kind of defeats the purpose of this whole thing, Bucky,” you said frankly.
“I… I know.” He shrugged his shoulders, unsure of what he was even trying to say in the first place. “So then, I’ll pick you up at 5 tomorrow?”
“Sure, and thanks for driving me today, boo bear,” you said as you opened the car door.
He let out a laugh, “Can I put in a request for another pet name?”
“You can, but it might not get approved,” you beamed before shutting the door and leaving him alone with his thoughts.
And that consisted of the thought of you in his arms, the feel of your hand in his, and the memory of you in that dress.
Shit.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
The following day, you tried not to dwell on the unusual feelings you had about the night before. They didn’t matter, and you figured Bucky would finally start some drama later on at game night. He was too competitive not to, and that made you excited about what was to come.
By the time Bucky had come to get you, you were giddy to get the show on the road. You both made casual small talk, and seemed to be in good spirits. The two of you even set boundaries on public displays of affection quite easily, agreeing on everything but kissing. However, your plans were briefly thwarted when Nat texted you, asking if you could pick up some ingredients that she forgot to get from the store. After letting Bucky know, the two of you stopped at the supermarket along the way.
“What did she say she needed?” Bucky asked as he grabbed a cart.
“Just a couple of things for her dip. We don’t even need a cart.”
“That’s okay, I like to drive it.”
“Suit yourself. I just need a few things from the produce section,” you said before heading in that direction.
“Alright, I’ll meet you there in a minute. I’m going to grab a couple drinks.”
You nodded, as you made your way to grab the vegetables you needed. As you picked out some celery, you were disappointed to see your recent ex, if you could even call him that, Quentin headed your way. Things abruptly ended early on after you found out that he had a wife. After a crappy first date, and a dramatic second date where his wife stormed in, you realized he was an absolute tool. He still called and texted you afterwards, trying to see if you were willing to look past it but you blocked his number after declining multiple times.
“Well if it isn’t Y/N. How have you been, sugar?” he asked obnoxiously.
“Quentin, —.”
Bucky interjected before you could respond. “Hey, doll. Do you remember the whiskey Sam had last weekend? I forgot the brand name,” he said as he stood behind the cart facing you and Quentin. He furrowed his brow as he took in your demeanor — he couldn’t tell what was going on, but he could see that you were bothered.
“Hey, um I don’t remember.”
“Oh alright, well did you find —.”
Quentin narrowed his eyes as he looked at you, “Who the hell is this, Y/N?” he interrogated.
Bucky was taken aback, but he finally understood from context that this had to be one of your crappy exes. He chimed in before you had to. “I’m her boyfriend, and I don’t really care who you are,” he said as he crossed his arms over his chest, making himself appear broader. “Ready to go, doll?” he asked, not giving Quentin a second glance.
Quentin was so shocked by the turn of events that he couldn’t think of a response.
You nodded your head as you placed the greens in the cart. Bucky reached out for your hand, after you put everything down, which you gladly took.
“Do you actually need anything else?” he asked as you turned the corner.
“No, I’ve got it all. And thanks for the assist back there.”
“Any time,” he said as he squeezed your hand. For a moment you forgot that he was still holding it, and by the looks of it, he did too. “Oh um, sorry,” he said, slowly letting go of your hand.
Bucky knew he shouldn’t, but he wondered if you felt it too, the captivating force that was pulling him to you — a small part of him wished you did.
“Nothing to be sorry about,” you mumbled as your heart skipped a beat. And you’d be lying if you said you didn’t miss the feel of your fingers intertwined with his.
“I forgot to ask, do you want me to circle back and kick his ass?”
You let out a laugh, looking up at him in disbelief. “You’d do that for me?”
Bucky cracked a smile, “Anything for my sugarplum,” he teased, nudging you gently. You only shook your head and tried to suppress a smile in response.
And even if his tone was playful, he couldn't help but feel like he meant it.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
After arriving at Sam and Nat’s you took the opportunity to step away from Bucky. You had a feeling things would get contentious soon enough, and a brief break before that wouldn’t be the worst thing. Heading to the kitchen you dropped off the groceries and caught up with the girls.
“How have things been with Bucky?” Nat asked suggestively, wiggling her eyebrows.
“Oh my goodness, is that why you two arrived together?!” Wanda asked excitedly.
“Nat, it's only been a couple of days, but it’s been great. He’s a good guy.”
“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. I know you guys clashed when you met, but he’s a good person. I’m so glad you’re seeing that now.”
Wanda chimed in, “Bucky really is the best — so chivalrous and handsome. I’m happy you guys settled your differences, because you make a lovely pair.”
“Thanks ladies,” you mumbled, taking a good swig of your beer. You were well aware that this was supposed to be a prank — mess with Sam and Nat for setting you up on a bad date, and get a couple months of cleaning out of Bucky. But it didn’t seem like the others were taking it the way you had intended. You weren’t feeling the satisfaction that you thought would come from pranking them, and Bucky was being entirely kind to you. How the hell is this going to work out?
Before you could worry about that too much, your old friend Thor walked in.
Excusing yourself from the girls, you walked up to your blonde friend. “Hey, I didn't know you were coming!” you said excitedly. Thor rarely made an appearance at your game nights, but you loved it whenever he did.
Thor beamed at you, “Hello, Y/N. It’s so good to see you! Are you well?” he asked before pulling you into a bear hug.
You giggled as he let you go. “I’m good! What’s new with you?”
As Thor caught you up on his daily life, someone else was feeling unsettled at the sight of you standing so close and chatting so happily with him.
From across the way, Bucky asked Sam and Steve, “Who invited Thor?”
“Oh right, I ran into him a few days ago. I invited him but I didn’t think he’d take up the invite. He’s always a good time though.” Sam paused when he saw Bucky's irritated expression. “Why do you look upset?” he asked.
Steve let out a laugh, “Because Y/N’s looking awfully chummy with him,” he pointed his beer bottle in your direction.
Bucky glowered at you laughing at something Thor was saying; your head thrown back as you gripped his large bicep for balance. Thor looked at you with the brightest smile, laughing along to whatever joke you two were sharing. It made Bucky’s chest tighten, and he did not want to think about the reason for that.
“Oh,” Sam said. He thought your behavior coupled with Bucky’s concern was suspicious, considering you both were apparently together now. “Well, what are you worried about? That’s your girl now,” Sam said to goad Bucky. For the first time that night, Sam started to doubt the legitimacy of your short relationship, and he figured he could push Bucky into revealing something.
Bucky took a deep breath before realizing something himself — this was the perfect opportunity to maintain the ruse and get you to quit first. “That’s right, she is my girl,” he said impishly. “If you’ll excuse me gentleman,” he said before heading towards you.
You saw Bucky strutting towards you jovially, a bright smile on his face. Those kinds of smiles weren’t usually directed at you, so you knew something was up. Unsure of the reason, but hoping to divert his behavior, you spoke up. “Hey, Buck! What’s up?” you asked behind an obviously saccharine smile.
“Nothing, just came over to see my girl,” he said as he reached out and wrapped his arms around your waist.
Your eyes widened as Bucky settled behind you, resting his chin on your shoulder as you both faced Thor.
“I didn’t know you and James were together,” Thor said with a sweet smile and a hint of confusion.
Bucky lifted his head. “We sure are Thor, this little jellybean is the best thing to ever happen to me,” he said with feigned enthusiasm.
“Well that’s wonderful, how long have you been together?”
“Three days, three amazing days,” Bucky said as he let out a chuckle.
Thor furrowed his brow, “Well congratulations, to the both of you,” he said before kindly excusing himself to get another drink.
Once he was gone you turned around to look at the annoyingly affectionate man behind you.
“What the hell was that?” you challenged.
“What was what, doll?” Bucky asked with a cheshire grin.
Your jaw dropped, narrowing your eyes, you grabbed his hand and tugged him outside to the backyard. “So we’re adding sabotage to the mix, now huh?”
“Sabotage, what do you mean? Like your chances with Thor? Well I just thought he ought to know your relationship status. Plus, Sam and Steve were starting to get concerned, what with you flirting so openly with another man when you’re supposed to be with me.”
“So what if he was flirting with me? We’ve told them that I’m with you.”
Bucky eyes widened, taken aback. “You knew?”
“Thor’s a flirt, who cares?”
“I do, you’re my girlfriend.”
You shook your head, “You know you’re starting to sound like a jealous boyfriend.”
“Then I’m playing the part right,” he shrugged.
You scoffed at his indifference, “Is that what it’d be like? Dating you?”
“Why, are you asking because you’re considering it?” he asked with a smirk.
“No, Bucky. I just want to properly warn the next girl that stupidly falls for those pretty blue eyes.”
“Did you just say that you like my eyes?” he asked gleefully.
“Ugh,” you scoffed before kindly shoving him out of the way and heading back inside.
He smiled to himself, satisfied that he got the better of that exchange.
Watching through the glass door, he saw you walk into the kitchen and pour yourself a drink. You looked frustrated with him, and normally that would make him quite happy, but today Bucky felt a touch of guilt in his smug satisfaction. He didn’t want you to actually be upset with him. Lately, when it came to you though, the more time he spent in your presence, the more confused he became.
The only thing he knew was certain from that interaction was that you were right. He didn’t like seeing you with Thor, and come to think of it, he didn’t like seeing you with that guy at the store either. It made him feel that tightness in his chest that was now becoming common when it came to you.
After you threw back your drink and headed to the restroom to freshen up, you finally had a moment to yourself. As you thought about the events of your typical game night, you started to think about Bucky’s present ridiculousness. By now you’d be at each other’s throats for some type of game disagreement, not because of something like this.
It was true, you enjoyed Thor’s company, and his flirty nature was fun for you too. However, you didn’t think you’d like the way it felt to be wrapped up in Bucky’s arms more — but you really did. The way it felt to be held against that wall of hard muscle, the heat permeating off his body, it just felt so good.
This was supposed to be fake, and perhaps there was more beneath the surface, but you knew you shouldn’t think about that. It was too great a risk to take, especially with the bet still in place. You couldn’t give that smug bastard the satisfaction of a win.
After returning to the living room, you observed the girls finishing up a game of Uno.
“Hey, charades is starting up in five. You and Bucky are on different teams. Since you both are friendly with one another, I’m sure it shouldn’t be a problem!” Nat said excitedly.
Oh thank goodness. Finally, competitive Bucky can come out and ruin the day.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
Bucky was excited to play against you, because he knew you were just as competitive as him. He too was ready to finish this bet. Every time you both stepped up to grab the slip of paper with the phrases on it, you could feel the tension. And he brought his A-game, beating you out on the hardest phrases. Somehow he was able to act out building a sandcastle with ease, and he made sure to give you a cocky wink after getting that done. When you were both up again, you were able to convey shoveling snow faster than him, and you loved seeing how frustrated that made him.
Bucky had Steve on his team, which was an unfair advantage because it oftentimes felt like they shared the same brain. But you were grateful to have Wanda on your team because it almost felt like she could read your mind, which definitely helped rack up some points.
As the game neared its end, both teams found themselves in a tie. It was down to you and Bucky to break it. After you both read “waterfall” you got to pantomiming the best that you possibly could.
Ultimately, you were able to break up the word and make it recognizable for Sam, thus sealing your victory. You made sure to stick out your tongue at Bucky as you basked in your win. He only shook his head before heading out the back door. There’s the hot head that I know.
You decided you’d follow him after a minute to see if you could push his buttons, and maybe win your bet too. But you didn’t expect to see him in such good spirits when you stepped onto the patio.
“Hey, doll,” he said with a soft smile. “Congratulations on the win, I really thought I had you there.”
“Here I was coming to gloat, and you’re being… nice. What gives?”
Bucky shrugged, exhaling a heavy breath. “You know I don’t hate you, right?”
“You told me off the day we met, Bucky. You don’t like me.”
“I was drunk, which isn’t an excuse, but I only told you that you were a know-it-all. Did you ever ask yourself why I might've said that?
You furrowed your brows. “No?” you asked quietly.
He took a deep breath. “I was being stupid and childish. I was the best at trivia, and then you came into my friend group, knowing more than me about American history — that was my thing. And it wasn’t just that, your team won the entire trivia match because of you alone. So I said something dumb when I shouldn’t have, because I was intimidated,” he said sheepishly.
“Trivia, Bucky? Are you insane?” you asked in disbelief. That had to be the dumbest reason to start a bitter rivalry with a person.
“We just clashed, we didn’t get along. And I guess I never did anything to fix that.”
“You know, I studied up on those categories because I wanted to make a good impression on the new group of people Nat was introducing me to. I didn’t want to ruffle feathers, I only wanted to be accepted. But before the night ended you made sure I knew that I definitely was not.”
“I misjudged you, and I annoyed you when I should’ve seen you for the exceptional person you are. I should’ve been kinder, and I’m sorry.”
You eyed him suspiciously. “I don’t get it. Why are you saying this now?”
“Because something’s changed, and I needed you to know that I —.”
“Hey lovebirds! Sharon convinced Nat to fire up the karaoke machine. You in or you in?” Sam asked excitedly, oblivious to the moment you were sharing.
“Um,” you looked at Bucky.
“We’re in,” he said. This was far too heavy a conversation for tonight, and he had already said what we wanted to.
He gave you a shy smile before following Sam inside.
You wished you could finish the conversation you were having. With the way Bucky was acting you felt like the bet would truly never end, and it scared you that you didn’t mind as much as you thought you would.
Now that you understood where he was coming from, as irrational as it was, it was hard to hate him. In his tipsy state he spouted out a statement borne of jealousy, which felt a little less harmful than what you had been thinking all this time. Still, you figured you could think about it all later.
It was karaoke time now.
┈┈┈┈┈・・
After watching Steve belt out “Brown Eyed Girl'' by Van Morrison, then seeing Sam follow it up with “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, you started to feel a bit overwhelmed. Nat asked if you were feeling alright, and you weren’t sure how to answer that. You couldn’t fully pinpoint what was going on with you.
Opting to avoid revealing anything that would lead you to lose the bet, you told her that you weren’t feeling well and that you were going to call it a night. Fortunately, Thor was heading out early too, so you left with him while Bucky dueted with Sam.
Immediate relief washed over you once you were back home. Finally, you were alone and able to process your thoughts on your own.
Things were getting weird with Bucky. Your friends were all too accepting of you two getting together, and even you were starting to get too comfortable with it. As silly as it was, you thought back to how you felt in his arms, when he pulled you out of harm's way. The way he looked at you, like he was seeing you for the first time — it was all too hard to forget.
The man that you couldn’t stand a few days prior, now made you feel safe and somehow cared for? You pondered how that could be and gave yourself a headache thinking about it. Bucky went out of his way to apologize, when you were happy to dislike him for the rest of his days.
Even though his rationale for being mean in the beginning was ridiculous, you realized neither of you did anything to stop it from spiraling out. And not only that, but he went on to tell you something had changed, making you even more confused. Did he feel something for you, like how you might feel for him too?
Deciding to forget about the whole thing, you lit a couple cozy vanilla candles and set up a warm bath for yourself. After soaking and relaxing your mind, you came to a decision.
You were going to call off the bet.
It had become pointless. Bucky treated you differently, and you couldn’t see how this would end in him surrendering. He was seemingly unbothered by the situation, so you had to be the one to put an end to it. You could always hire a housekeeping service or something to clean his place for him, the terms were never that detailed anyways.
As you slipped into your favorite pajamas, you felt content with your decision. Your life was going to go back to normal and an added bonus was that Bucky would no longer be your enemy — things were looking up.
Just as you sat down with a cup of tea, your phone buzzed in your lap.
Bucky: Can I come over? Unless you’re with him.
Huh? Maybe he was drunk texting you from Sam’s place. You decided not to text him back until the morning since it was already late.
Bucky: I’m outside, if you’re awake.
What the hell? You got up and opened the door, surprised to see him waiting on the other side.
“He’s not here is he?” he grumbled.
“Who?”
“The one that would be more than happy to give you a ride.”
“Of course, Thor’s not here,” you stepped aside to let him in from the cold.
Bucky breathed a sigh of relief. “Good, that’s good,” he muttered as you shut the door.
“You really came all the way over here to make sure I wasn’t with Thor? Are you serious?” you asked in disbelief.
“No, well, you left without a word and I had to make sure you were okay, and tell you —."
You cut him off before he could continue. “Look, I don't want to do this —.”
“I’m calling it. I don’t want to do this bet anymore,” he blurted out at the same time.
“You’re… we’re both quitting?”
His eyes widened as he processed your question. “Looks that way.”
“Okay. So neither of us wins and gets a housekeeper… I guess that’s fair,” you said.
“I think so.”
“Okay well, I’ll let you go then,” he said before moving to leave.
Placing a hand on his chest, “Bucky, why couldn’t this wait until tomorrow?”
He exhaled a deep breath, looking down at your hand. He wanted to confess that he came because he saw red when Nat told him you left with Thor, and that his heart wouldn't know peace until he saw you. He needed you to know that you had consumed his thoughts the last few days and he needed to release the pressure of the bet because he was overwhelmed by his emotions.
Instead he asked, “Did you feel it too?”
“What do you mean?” you asked timidly.
Clasping his large hand over yours, he looked up into your eyes. “I think you know.”
“I don’t know what you mean,” you breathed out. Thinking back to all the instances in the last couple of days that made your heart race, of course you knew what he was referring to. But it wasn’t made to work, not with all the rough history between you two.
His azure eyes bore into yours, as words were not necessary to express what laid under the surface. “Alright then,” he nodded before giving you a tight smile and dropping your hand to leave again.
“That’s it? You’re not going to elaborate or anything?” you breathed out, before you could bite your tongue.
Before you knew it, he was invading your space, slowly pushing you up against the door behind you with his hands on your waist. “I asked you a question, and you don’t want to answer honestly.” His lips were a mere inches from yours as he gazed into your eyes.
“It was a vague question,” you whispered, your eyes falling to his soft pink lips.
Bucky grabbed the back of your neck and pulled your lips to his — intentional and packed with everything he was too afraid to say. You reciprocated immediately; your confusion and doubt finally made sense. What you wanted, no, needed, was him.
You gave into him completely, letting him take control of the filthy kiss. It was all tongue, teeth, and wanton desire. His rough hand dug into your hips as he pulled you towards him, melding you to his firm body. Your hands found their way into his hair, and you tugged his brown locks, earning a deep groan from his throat.
Bucky didn’t want to let go of the feel of your lips on his, so he dragged out the moment until you were both too breathless to carry on. As he pulled away and released the hold he had on you, you reluctantly untangled your fingers from his hair and peered up at him; his eyes dark with kiss-swollen lips.
“You knew what I meant,” he whispered, his thumb brushing against your bottom lip.
You nodded your head.
Bucky smiled softly, one of his hands coming up to cradle your face. He couldn’t help it — his feelings were reciprocated and you were too gorgeous so he pulled you back for a wild, warm kiss.
“You’re mine now, understand?” he muttered against your lips.
You narrowed your eyes at him. “We’ll discuss that later,” you said defiantly, a smirk playing on your lips.
A lazy grin tugged at his lips, “You are the most frustrating woman in the world.”
You rolled your eyes, “And you are the most infuriating man I have ever known.”
“Yet for some reason, you like me, doll,” he goaded.
“Shut up,” you muttered.
His eyes widened, a twinkle of mischief glistening in his gaze, “Make me.”
He was about to tease you some more, but then you sucked his bottom lip between yours and he decided it wasn’t worth it; he’d gladly lose every little disagreement if you kept kissing him like that.
Bucky’s hand snaked its way to the back of your head as he savored the kiss, his tongue gliding along yours.
Reaching up, you tugged at his hair to tilt his head for an even deeper kiss, pouring everything you felt into the searing kiss.
Bucky’s hips grinded with yours, hands moving down to squeeze your ass as he kissed you fervently. You couldn’t help but moan at the delicious friction. His brain short-circuited, the sound sobering and disillusioning him at the same time.
“I’m… fuck, I’ll stop.” He pulled away to look into your eyes, his hands doing nothing to release you from his hold. “I’m sorry, I don’t want to take advantage —.”
“You’re not, we can slow down if you want though,” you said before kissing him softly.
He pulled away to smile at you. “I don’t want that. I want you.”
Oh.
You pushed his chest, successfully getting him to back up and away from you. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. You knew he was letting you shove him around, and that in reality he only moved because you directed him to.
“Come and get me then,” you said before making a break for your bedroom.
Bucky let out a laugh before chasing after you, and right as you were about to hop onto your bed, his arms wrapped around your stomach, jerking you back towards him. You squealed in surprise as he pressed your back up against his hard beefy body.
He moved you so that you were facing your tall mirror and the sight of him wrapped around you made your heart pound like a drum in your chest. Engulfed in his warm scent, captured in his strong arms, your head felt dizzy with desire.
“Now that I’ve caught you, what am I going to do with you?” he rasped, as his hand slid down your torso, toying with the hem of your shorts. You bucked against him, as his hand ghosted over your clothed core.
“Please, Bucky. Whatever you want.”
“Anything?” Bucky asked as he deftly untied your shorts, allowing them to fall in a pool at your feet.
“Mhm,” you mumbled as you watched his fingers dip beneath your panties, trailing his fingers through your soaked folds. “Bucky,” you whimpered, as his thumb pressed into your clit, his fingers prodding at your entrance.
“Yes, doll?” he asked, slipping two fingers into your tight hole, pumping slowly.
You were rendered speechless, trying to stifle your moans as you writhed against him.
“So gorgeous,” Bucky groaned, taking in your pleasured expression in the mirror. He curled his fingers and you keened as he gently caressed that spot that made you shudder.
Reaching down to his hand around your midsection, you guided it up to your body as you rucked up your shirt. Understanding your intention, Bucky pulled your top off before cupping your breast with his large warm palm, squeezing and kneading you roughly. You gasped, arching into him and he picked up the pace, strumming your clit with his thumb. You leaned your head back against his chest as he touched you, moaning as he eased in and out of you in a perfect rhythm. Incapable of controlling your hips, you grinded down on his hand erratically.
“Fuck,” Bucky breathed out, “Look at you.” You were falling apart before his eyes, and he couldn't look away.
You whined desperately, clutching his forearm as that familiar coil tightened in your belly, “Fuck, I’m —.”
“Go ahead, doll,” he groaned in your ear.
You whimpered as your walls fluttered around his fingers. Your vision going white as pleasure coursed through your body.
If it weren’t for Bucky’s arm wrapped around you, you were certain you’d collapse. As your breathing slowed and sight cleared, you got a good look at him in the mirror — you watched as he brought his soaked fingers from your pussy to his mouth, licking them clean.
Fuck.
Reaching behind you, you palmed his hard erection, earning a deep groan from his lips. Keeping his hold on you, he buried his face in your neck, sucking at your pulse point as he rutted against your hand.
“I need you so bad,” he muttered as he kissed along your jawline. “Are you ready for what comes next?”
You weren’t sure if he meant what you’d do in the bedroom or what would happen once you crossed the next line, but you nodded your head eagerly because it didn’t matter — you were ready for it all with him.
He kissed your temple before finally releasing the hold he had on your body. “Undress me.”
“Yes sir,” you whispered, turning around and eagerly unbuckling his belt, tugging off his pants and dragging down his boxers. Your mouth watered as you finally got a look at his impressive length. You should’ve known, the man was a giant, it only made sense that he’d be well-endowed too.
Bucky’s jaw went slack as he looked at you, wide-eyed and gazing at him with fire in your eyes. He pulled his shirt off himself because he could see your attention was elsewhere.
You marveled at the gorgeous unclad man, and you started to slowly pump his hard cock, unable to keep your hands off of him. You were about to fall to your knees when he lifted your chin to look into your eyes.
“I need something else more, doll.”
You looked at him quizzically, until he scooped you up and headed towards the bed. You giggled as his knees hit the edge of the bed and the two of you fell sideways onto your duvet. He let out a laugh as you sidled up next to him, hooking your leg over his own, as you peppered his neck with kisses. Bucky’s hand skimmed over your back, gliding his fingers along your spine until they settled around your waist. Your hand found his hard length, and you stroked him slowly, earning a deep groan from his chest.
“Fuck, baby,” he moaned.
He kissed you softly before pulling back to look in your eyes. His hand halted your movements, making you release him. You were about to protest but then he gripped the back of your knee, and rolled you onto your back, so that he was hovering over your wet heat. Bucky met your gaze, looking for any unease, only to find you nodding and biting your lip in anticipation.
He let out a chuckle at your expression before coating himself with your slick and lining himself up. Your fingers tangled in his hair as he slowly sunk into you, gasping at the feel of him stretching you out completely. Bucky leaned in and kissed you, his tongue swirling around yours as he gave you a moment to adjust.
You had never felt so full before, but you knew that you could get used to the feeling. Wrapping your legs around the small of his back tightly, you urged him to move. Bucky sucked your bottom lip before easing back and thrusting into you hard. He watched as your eyes squeezed shut and mouth fell agape, as he sank in and out of you.
He relished the way you clenched around him, your breathing coming out shallow as he took what he wanted. His lips found your neck when he felt your walls squeezing even tighter, “Such a good girl, and she’s all mine now, huh?” he mumbled against your skin,
“Mmm.”
“Use your words, doll,” he groaned as he suddenly slowed his movements. “Wanna hear you say it.”
Your eyes snapped open as the peak you were so close to hitting started to slowly fizzle away. Bucky had a self righteous smirk on his face, like he knew he had you. He wasn’t going to give you what you wanted until you answered his question.
“Bucky,” you whined in protest, trying to urge him to move faster with your hips.
He halted his movements as he gazed deeply into your eyes, “You’re not getting out of this one, doll,” he smiled before nipping at your bottom lip.
“Later,” you pleaded.
He swiftly pulled out of you, and manhandled you so that you were facing away from him while sitting in his lap.
Your eyes flickered to his gaze in the mirror. “Do what you want then,” he muttered as he placed a pillow behind his back.
You couldn’t help but think that Bucky was practically telling you to fuck yourself, but you didn’t care. You placed your hands on his thick thighs and tucked your legs up so that you were straddling him in reverse. The position had you spread open on your knees as you hovered over his lap.
Bucky grasped the sides of your hips so that balance would not be an issue, allowing you to comfortably rock against him. The sight in the mirror made you even wetter, if that was possible — his brawny body taking up your bed, with his hands holding you tightly as you moved against his thick, perfect cock.
You lined his length up with your entrance, and slowly sank down, releasing a shuddering breath as you went. The stretch ached in the most satisfying way, and you liked the control the position gave you.
Your lips parted with a breathy moan as you started to move, bouncing up and down. Finding the right rhythm was easy as Bucky supported you and let you grind against him until you found what felt good.
Bucky hissed beneath you, “Fuck, feel s’perfect.” He filled you up perfectly, like he was made for you.
“Look at yourself, doll.” He grabbed the back of your neck, coaxing you to look at yourself in the mirror. “Watch how well you take my cock.”
You cupped your breasts as you saw your reflection, and then you understood why he insisted on making you see. The way you moved against him, the way your bodies melded together, it was all so beautiful. As you continued to appreciate the sight, Bucky sat up, so you could lean back against him.
He kissed along your shoulders, up to your neck as you took what you needed from him. “Don’t you see it?”
And you finally realized, you did; you were perfect for one another, physically and literally. The thing that everyone saw, and you both were too afraid to admit, was that you were so damn similar. Both fiery, passionate, and a little crazy — you didn’t clash because you were different, you clashed because you were the same.
You wrapped your hands around his, as he sucked a hickey into your neck. “Yes,” you breathed.
“You belong with me.”
“I do,” you moaned as the coil tightened in your belly.
Before your brain could comprehend what was happening, he twisted you both onto your side and started thrusting into you from behind. “Good, now come with me,” he groaned. You arched your back, giving him better access as he pounded into you. His thumb found your swollen clit, rubbing rough deliberate circles, making you clench around him even more.
Your breath hitched in your throat as the sudden increase in pace and added pressure finally pushed you over the edge of bliss; your body tensing and mind blanking as your walls spasmed around him. “Fuck, fill me up please,” you cried out.
His thrusts grew erratic as he buried himself as deep as he could go, hips driving into you with more force until he was spilling himself inside your core with your name on his lips.
With one last squeeze on your hips, he carefully withdrew himself from you and rolled over on the bed next to you. You both laid there, panting as your breathing slowly regulated.
After taking a solid moment you lazily turned towards him and reached up to play with his hair.
Bucky turned towards you slowly, a lopsided grin on his face. His eyes were closed as he reveled in the way you touched him.
“That was…” you said, barely above a whisper. Hot as fuck, ridiculously good, indescribable.
“Yeah,” he nodded, knowing exactly what you meant. “I wasn’t too rough was I?” he asked gently, finally coaxing his eyes open to look at you adoringly.
You shook your head, “I liked it,” you murmured.
Bucky grinned, grabbing your hand in his hair and bringing it to his lips, “And to think all the times we were bickering, we could’ve been doing this.”
“Maybe we should take the weekend to make up for lost time,” you said teasingly.
Bucky rolled you over, and pinned your hands above your head before you could blink. His lips hovered over yours as he caged you in. “I’ll need more than a weekend for that, doll.”
You stretched up and pecked his lips before laying back and looking into his gorgeous blue eyes. “I think that can be arranged. After all, I am yours now, boo bear.”
He let out a laugh, “And don’t you forget it,” he beamed, leaning down to press his lips to yours.
Bucky would learn to deal with your silly nicknames, and your sass, and anything else you threw at him. Because now that you’d crossed the line, there was no going back — and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Hey, it’s not her fault she’s siding with me. I showed up in a flashy metal suit.”
You sighed, “If only I knew I was going to be competing today.” Your cell phone lit up, work. “Excuse me for a moment.” You stepped into the hall.
A few minutes later you popped your head back in, “Hey, I have to take a raincheck on everyone mocking me for tonight.” You giggled, grabbing your coat and walking over towards Grace who still had Tony on her side, “I’ll see you tomorrow.” You kissed her head.
“Where’s mine?” Tony grinned, making you turn your attention to him. He must have sensed something with you because he stopped, “Let me take you there. It’ll be faster.”
“I’ll be alright-” He pulled you towards the window and pushed you out, letting you fall and scream for a moment.
“What the hell?!” You asked, clutching onto him after he caught you. You could feel him rumbling under your arms which were now wrapped around him, “You know if you would have dropped me you would have a homicide on your hands.”
“I promise I will never kill you. On purpose.” Tony rumbled again.
“Makes me feel so reassured.” You scoffed, glancing around quickly. “We’re really zipping around.”
“No traffic.” He mocked through his helmet.
“How come you’re protected and your passenger isn’t?” You flicked his helmet with one pointer finger.
“I’m more important.” He chuckled, “And I’m usually the one they’re shooting at.”
Your smile tightens a little as he drops you off in an alley half a block away. “You do realize my car is back in the parking garage, right?”
He asks for your phone and types in his number, telling you to call him when you get out.
“You don’t have to be on call, Iron Man. I’ll just call a cab.” You shrug, walking towards your building.
--
Four hours- that’s all it took to finish up some of the leads and paperwork that had dropped on the city's newest case. You scanned your watch as you walked out, a little sore from sitting at your desk for four hours straight.
You popped open your phone and debated for half a second to call before you realized you had four texts from Tony’s number.
*Hey, you really should call me when you’re out*
*Checking in- make sure you call me for that ride.*
*Red and Gold match your outfit much more than yellow. Call me.*
*Don’t make me hunt down your car and reprimand you. I have time on my hands and nerf guns at my disposal.*
You smirked, he sent you one an hour. “Dramatic much?” You mumbled, sliding your phone back into your pocket.
“You forced my hand.” A voice called from behind you. You turned and got hit in the chest- a nerf bullet? You ducked down after the first one and ran behind cover of a tree.
“Stark?” You called, involuntarily squeaking as another bullet flew past you.
“I tried to warn you- this must be what it’s like for Happy.” He chuckled, running behind cover himself. “If you want to defend yourself there’s a second gun hiding behind the mailbox.”
You didn’t spare a second, bolting and sliding behind it, pulling out the nerf gun and aiming for him. “Stark come on- it’s been a long day.”
“You’re telling me the perfect way to end it isn’t to shoot me?”
You smirked despite yourself, shooting again and moving away down the street. Another two shots flew by you and then you shouted as you were swept up from behind and lifted into the air.
“You are trying to give me a heart attack.” You smacked him playfully in the arm.
“I’m trying to show you a good time.” He paused, smirking back at you, “Is it working?”
“It’s true what they say then, huh? Mr. Playboy.” You mocked, shooting the nerf gun into his back.
“Do you believe everything you hear, Ms. Detective?”
“Only after examining evidence.”
“And what evidence do you have on me?” He set you down gently after landing and removed his helmet to look you in the eyes.
“Besides the accounts and tales of hundreds of women- the note you wrote me and the statements you’ve made seem to be a good start towards it. Should I be drawing a different conclusion?” You held his gaze, knowing he seemed a little concerned.
“Pity. All I have to go by for you is your public record.” He smirked, turning to walk with you towards the parking garage, “Nice picture on your license by the way.”
“She didn’t count to three!” You exclaimed before brushing your hair back with a hand. “Why am I defending myself to you?”
“You like arguing with me.” He stated, confident.
“You like egging me on.” You stated back, just as confident.
“So-” He cleared his throat as you turned away, “If you need another ride before the party let me know.” He met your eyes, clearly looking to say something else as well.
You smirked and nodded, turning away again. “Will do.”
“Like tomorrow?”
“Coming on strong, Stark. You sure you aren’t a playboy?”
“I never denied that.” He chuckled, you could feel his eyes watching you as you left.
----------
“So cute!” Grace blushed and squealed, holding her head as you retold the storyline of two nights ago. Work kept you away all day yesterday so you brought her hot cocoa and donuts today to make up for it.
“So annoying.” You mocked her tone back and giggled when she looked a little upset. “Anyways, I figured you would be tearing me apart with information about your outfit and who do you think you’ll meet and all of that girly stuff you break out on special occasions.” You grinned, seeing her eyes widen.
“Well, I was looking at outfits and I really like this dress.” She giggled, pulling out her laptop. “They have it in my size and yours…”
“Lordy, matching outfits?! You think you're special or something?” You laughed, standing and plopping down next to her on the bed, leaning back and grabbing your drink. “Hard pass.”
“Come on, it would be fun!”
“To step out of my comfort zone? Pass again.” You grinned, rolling your eyes after a few minutes of begging. “You’re killing me, kid. At least find something less…” You tilted your head, “Pink.”
“I’ll look.” She looked a little bummed as you both looked over some possible choices over the next few hours.
“Remember you have to come by tomorrow, okay? We have to finish planning our outfits for next week!” She clapped and waved as you left.
“Yeah, yeah.” You winked and closed the door, making your way to your car. You pulled your phone out to look at the time and saw a missed text from a few hours ago from Tony.
*Want an expert tour of the town? Give Tony Stark a call and he’ll personally escort one lovely lady who presents this text to him a flight.*
You bit your lip and your eyebrow twitched as you responded, *What if the one who presents it doesn’t want Tony Stark as an escort?* You smirked as you pressed send, getting into your car.
*There’s no one better for the job. I suppose if you’re looking for someone less qualified, less handsome and less hilarious you could pay for one of the cheap bus tours* He sent back and you saw it as you pulled into your driveway.
*Thanks for the tip! Will do.* You chuckled, going inside and changed into pajamas, getting set up in front of the TV.
No new text, you must have caught him off guard. You smirked, flicking through your list of options. Another fifteen minutes passed and there was a knock on your door.
You bolted up, reaching for a service weapon nearby before cautiously moving towards the door.
“What are you doing here?” You flung the door open after checking to see who it was, showing clearly that you had a weapon at the ready.
“You are really looking to shoot me.”
“Well you do strike the right nerves.”
“And here I thought this was chemistry.” He smirked, his eyes looking you over.
“Doesn’t Tony Stark have better things to do than stalk an off duty officer?” You stepped back a little, letting him inside.
“I was trying to get my tour guide business off the ground but I was rejected too early.”
You smirked, shutting the door and walking back towards the couch, him following you. “Shame- people just don’t get enthused about small business anymore.”
He chuckled, leaning against a wall opposite you.
“You can sit down, you know. I would have already shot you if I planned on making it look like an accident.” You smirked, meeting his eyes. He held your gaze for a moment before switching the subject.
“So you’re watching a show about stargazing yet here you are indoors, not gazing at the stars.”
“So here you are inside talking to someone instead of touring the city with one of the people you sent that text to.” You shot back.
“One of.” He nodded, smirking. “Your opinion is so high of me, how ever will I raise that bar?” He finally moved over to the chair nearby and sat down.
“Why does my bar matter?”
He looked over at you and smirked, staring into your eyes. “I’ve been asking myself a similar question.”
For the next hour or so, Tony added a few recommendations to your list for movies and shows and chatted with you- quite easily. You actually had a good time, although your guard remained up. You still didn’t know what he was up to.
“I should go.” He stood abruptly.
You stood with him, nodding. You showed him outside, “You know- Grace is very excited for the party. She’s been picking outfits and practicing her greetings...Please don’t let her down.” You sounded a little more pitiful than you would have liked.
“I don’t plan on letting either of you down.” He leaned forward and winked just in front of your face. “Let me know when you’re ready for that tour.”
“You couldn’t handle showing me the city.” You stuck out your tongue playfully and giggled, “Have a safe trip back.”
“See you soon.” He smirked as you closed the door and locked it.
You smirked all the way back to your bathroom, brushing your teeth for the night and grinning like an idiot. “Pull yourself together, woman.” You told yourself before getting into bed.
Warnings: probably swearing throughout series, adult situations, drinking, deaths mentioned/ elaborated on.
When Y/N runs into Tony Stark at the hospital she hangs out at she tries to find the quickest way out of conversation. But what if that’s not what Stark wants?
This was supposed to be a couple part series but it got a bit out of hand and I apparently love Tony Stark lol

“Tony! Over here!”
“Stark’s boy!”
“Please, look this way!”
Screaming made its way from the street as the town car pulled up.
“Dottie please tell me all those reporters aren’t coming in, right?” You sighed, nodding towards the nurse.
“You know I don’t have any control over that, baby.” She winked, leaning over to hook up the last iv bag.
“Y/N?” A grumbled voice asked, stretching a little to wake up. You smiled, in some ways she was just a little kid, not the preteen most people saw.
“Hey, little lady! I thought you were going to sleep the entire day away.” You rolled your eyes, slumping as comfortably as possible back into the chair on the side.
She giggled, rubbing her eyes a little. “Did you have to work today?”
You nodded, “Yep! And- I had to work on the corner of 31st.” You tried to hold in a smirk, waiting for the reaction.
The widened eyes happened a few seconds later, “Did you stop for dogs?”
You nodded towards the bag on the table in between you both. “Extra onions for you and me, Dottie.”
“Score.” She giggled, turning her head when a beeping noise went off down the hall, “I’ll be back later for mine.” She walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.
You chatted more about your day, coming up with interesting things to tell her about as you both ate. You heard noise coming from down the hall and you muttered a sentence under your breath.
“What is it?” She sat up a little more, looking towards the door.
“I think there’s a hospital visitor today.” Your mouth dipped into a tight smile, you leaned back and crossed your arms, hearing a knock on the door, “Maybe I should leave you-”
“Please stay.” She turned to you, wide eyes looking a little frightened.
Damn. How were you supposed to say no to that? “Okay.” You told her before raising your voice, “Come in.”
You spotted him- Tony Stark himself- along with a red haired lady (Pepper if news reports were to be trusted) and his driver.
“Well, hold on now- is there a Grace Phillips here?” He started, peaking at you both up from the clipboard.
“That would be me, sir.” She spoke gently, a little shaky.
“No way- says here Grace is twelve years old.” He shook his head, “You are definitely in high school.” He winked, walking further into the room as the commotion and pictures started from the hallway.
Grace smiled and blushed, dipping her head and becoming shy- also jumping at the noise from the hallway.
“Look- can you shut the door behind you? She doesn’t like all the noise.” You spoke, you could feel the annoyance in your voice.
“Sure thing.” Pepper smiled, walking and pushing her way out of the door and closing it behind her- leaving you, Grace, Tony and his driver.
He turned towards you, holding out his hand, “Tony Stark.”
“Yeah, I think everyone knows that.” You mumbled, shaking his hand quickly before leaning back in your seat.
“Don’t sound so thrilled.” He chuckled, turning his attention towards Grace, “Your older sister always so protective?” You caught a suspicious glance from the driver as Grace answered back.
“You really think she could be my older sister? Y/N is so bad ass!” She giggled.
“Language!” You gasped, cracking a smirk towards her.
“I’m really a big fan of yours, Mr. Stark!”
“Please, my father is Mr. Stark- call me Tony.”
A knock on the door and Dottie flushed, realizing who was in here with you both. You checked your watch quickly, “Hey Dottie- your dog is in the bag, I gotta head out.” You stood and grabbed your coat from the back of the chair before kissing Grace on the top of the head, “I’ll see you tomorrow hun.” You nodded towards the driver and Tony before leaving the room.
Squeezing your way out of the building was not easy, even in the parking garage there were swarms of people.
“Miss!” You got called after and didn’t turn, finding the correct key on your chain. “Hey Miss!” A peak behind caught a glimpse of Tony Stark’s driver running after you.
“Did you need something?” You asked, confused.
“I think you dropped this when you were reaching for your coat.” He reached out to hand you your badge and a piece of paper.
“Thank you.” You said, genuinely. Most people loved to get their hands on a police badge around here.
“Tony was the one who saw it, actually. He just didn’t want a crowd of people to follow him down.”
“Well, will you thank him for me?” Once he nodded, you turned to be on your way again and unlocked your car. Putting the key in the starter, you locked your doors and waited a few moments for it to heat up.
Looking down at the note, you unfolded it.
Not all heroes wear capes- looks like some wear scowls and drop their badge. I’d love a one on one chat. Tony
“Playboy,” You scoffed to no one, imagining what fantasy story Grace and Dottie might be telling them. Another minute and you pulled out of the garage and drove home.
--
“I’m telling you, he was a dream.” Dottie sighed, recalling what happened after you left, “Kinda flirty, a little sarcastic-”
“He was really nice too. Asked questions.” Grace chimed in, “You should have stayed! He asked about you after you left.”
“I had a few things to wrap up last night.” You smiled, knowing you could have put it off a little longer but happy you could escape from that earlier.
“Why don’t you like him?” Dottie placed her hand on her hip and narrowed her eyes, “Has he done something to you?”
“No!” You raised your hands in defense, “Besides, why do I have to like every person who’s stopped in to spend a few hours here?”
“Is it because he gets more attention than you?” Grace asked.
“Definitely not! I love that the spotlight is on someone else!” They both glared at you, “Really! It makes my job so much easier.”
“Look, all I’m saying is if I was a few years younger and single I would have asked him out by the end of our conversation last night.” Dottie giggled, checking the clipboard.
“Good to know.” Came from behind her and all three of you jolted and looked at the open window as you pulled your gun.
A hovering iron man suit with an open helmet revealed Tony Stark.
“I didn’t think I pissed you off enough to shoot me.” He smirked towards you, waiting for you to lower your weapon and climbed inside the window.
“There’s this new technology called a door.” You sighed, plopping down in the chair.
He chuckled, walking over to Grace’s bed and removed a glove. “You came back.” Grace smirked, suddenly shy again like she wasn’t tag teaming with Dottie to give you the third degree.
“I promised I’d show you how my suit works.” He grinned, “Promises are important to keep.”
“That’s what Y/N says too!” She said, looking at the glove.
“Oh, really?” He looked up to meet your gaze and you quickly turned your attention towards the TV which was flipped to the news channel. “Did she promise to come with you and nurse Dottie next week?”
She shook her head, “I haven’t asked her yet. Hey, Y/N?”
You returned your gaze towards Grace, “Yes?”
“Next week if you don’t work you should come to the event Mr. Stark is hosting-”
“Tony,” He grinned, winking at her as she blushed.
“He says we’re all invited!”
“What’s the event for?”
“Formal party- dress code fancy. Men should look like penguins, ladies like-” Tony started.
“Peacocks!” Grace chimed in, laughing and Tony offered her a high five- which she took.
You paused, confused as Tony continued, “I wanted to throw a fancy superhero afterparty for everyone in the building. Split between the floors of Stark Tower I think everyone will get at least one hero to talk to.”
He stood and receded his armor back enough to reach into his pocket and slide out an envelope, “Everyone got their invites yesterday except you.” He held it out to you and withdrew it when you reached for it. “But you only get one if you promise you can go.”
Grace and Dottie giggled, looking at you.
“You guys are inflating his ego with the encouragement.” You couldn’t help but smirk at how excited they looked.
“Don’t be the one to deflate it.” He smirked, leaning in towards you.
“I promise to at least make an appearance.” You slit your eyes towards him and held your palm flat, “It’s the best I can do with my line of work.”
“I think I can understand that.” He grinned, looking back at Grace, “What do you think, good enough?”
Grace struggled to keep a straight face as she shrugged and gave a small nod.
He placed the ticket in your hand and you looked over to her, “Traitor.” You grinned.
if you didn’t tag right on this one please let me know if you want to be updated (or if you wanna be taken off or added, it’s been a while since I posted!)
I apologize this took a while to get up but I am excited to get this up!
This part immediately follows part 8 where Ed and the reader narrowly escape from an Inn, and the King and Prince of Calormen have escaped the custody of Peter.

--------------------------------------------
After that the search parties had increased, the castle was only a stopping ground for sleep and reporting. Peter constantly went on patrols, leaving Lucy and Susan to maintain whatever issues needed to be dealt with until he got back.
Peter had a million thoughts racing his mind- Where was Y/N? Where was Edmund? Who let the King and Prince out? How did they get out without being seen? Why did the King need to defend so harshly against Y/N? And what would he do if he found her first- if they hadn’t already found her?
No, he couldn’t think that. Hopefully Edmund and Y/N were both safe, but why was it so hard to find either of them? There was rumor of an inn getting burst into near a small off the path town, Peter rode as fast as he could to get there.
“Please, ma’am- who was staying in that room?” Peter asked, desperately. He knew he looked like hell, sweat and dirt covering him from the long ride.
“I told everyone that’s come through the same thing!” She scoffed, crossing her arms and looking over Peter’s armor. “I don’t remember.”
“Please-” Peter tried again, more quietly, “My brother is missing, and so is my… friend. I’m worried about them both,” He tried giving a brief description.
Her lips pursed, she leaned in ever so slightly as she raised her voice, “Of course you can rent the room. I’ll bring your supper up in a few minutes.” She turned around and slammed a key down on the counter next to Peter.
Peter nodded, taking gold out of a hip pouch before taking the key and walking up to find the matching door. Ten minutes of him pacing the room, looking for any sign of anyone here. It looked like the door and frame had been bashed open and the window looked slightly off its hinge but that could mean anything, it could have been anyone here. There wasn’t even anything in the fireplace, or clothing left behind. A knock at the door a minute later almost made him jump.
She closed the door before bringing in a plate of food and setting it on the end table. “There was some woman here in a hood, I never got a good look at her. She came in with the other fella you were talking about the first day, and he left and came back over the next few days. I brought her food up to her at this table.” She nodded, “And I think they were heading that way on horseback.” She pointed out of the window and down the road a direction. “That- is all I know.”
“Thank you! You have no idea how much this helps.” Peter grabbed the pouch at his side and thrust it into her hand, her looking taken back.
“Th-Thank you, sir. Enjoy your supper.” She nodded, walking out of the room and closing the door behind her.
“So they made it out!” Peter smiled, brighter than he had in days before it was replaced. “Wait, they were together?” He paused, before shaking his head. He took a few bites of food before heading down and hopping back on his horse. “He must have found her- was he scared to bring her back?” He frowned, “And where are they now?” He rode as fast as he could, occasionally slowing to see if there were any newer tracks. There seemed to be quite a few horses heading this direction, he was hoping he could gain a lead before he lost them again.
-----------
“I told you this didn’t look right.” You smirked, looking over to Edmund.
“You also told me very specific directions on which way we were heading, so we should be there on the map if you were correct.” He smirked back, teasing you.
The ride so far had been interesting, you only really got a few hours each day for a quicker pace before you or Edmund were alerted to noises and having to hide your tracks off the main road. Ed seemed a little distant for his thoughts but otherwise was nice to have around. Apart from the fact that you enjoyed his company, he made a good lookout and was quick to follow any advice you could help with. You felt guilty enjoying that he was here since he was separated from his family, a comfortable bed and many other comforts.
You halted your worry until you had both camped down for the evening and gathered dinner and prepared a small camp. You both seemed to get pretty good at the practice of hiding your tracks and easily covering your camp in areas so it took almost no time and right at the cusp of night you both had gotten a fire started, a small area mapped out for hiding and sleeping and one of you had caught some food.
Breaking the silence during eating, you spoke, “Hey, Ed?”
“Mm?” He asked, eating and turning his attention towards you, you both sitting near the slight divot in the ground you both were going to sleep in tonight.
“You know I appreciate you being here, right?”
He grinned and looked down, “Do you?”
You pushed him a little, “So you do know it.” You winked when he finally looked up, and then your smile lessened a little.
“Why do I sense something moving about in that head of yours?”
“Ed,” You spoke again, softly before becoming more stern, “You should go back home. You can help more from there and keep an eye on things.”
He chuckled, “I apologize if you would like me to leave your presence, your highness, but I am not leaving you out here.”
You frowned, “I can travel faster as one.”
“Where do you plan on traveling?” He spoke, looking back after finishing his dinner.
“Closer to the border, probably… it makes sense.”
“Do you have anyone to help you along the way?”
“I have some contacts.” You finished your dinner not long after him and you turned to look directly at him, him turning back around and seeming to tease your serious tone, “You should go, get an update and help your kingdom.”
“There is no way I’m leaving your side.” He spoke after a second. “Besides, I trust Peter, Lucy, Susan and Caspian at the very least have matters in order.” He looked over your face and you sensed him shift closer before reaching a hand out to your shoulder. “Don’t take this on alone, Y/N. Please, let me join you.”
“What if I lose and drag you into this, Ed?” You looked down. “What if I dragged all of you into this and I get you hurt, or worse?”
“Welcome to being a ruler.” He spoke so softly as he leaned even closer, wrapping his arms around you into a hug and after a second pulling you in against him and he leaned back. “In case you decide to try to leave.” He smirked, letting you know the answer to the unasked question.
“Thank you.” You spoke almost inaudibly before both of you growing completely silent, staring at the fire.
There is a snap, farther off in the forest. You move your head in that direction and sense a pair of eyes on you. You see a pack of wolves, not growing agitated but watching you carefully. You feel calm around them and after a minute brave to get closer- two standing closer than the others. You get fairly close to them and hear a mighty roar from behind you, seeing a pack of hunters rushing in with weapons. You step in front to shield them but feel a movement past you, when you look behind you there is silence as the wolves lay on the ground, unmoving.
You snap your eyes open as you sense another snap, this time you are sure you are awake. Edmund’s arms still lightly drape around you and he is facing you, the slightest hint of a smile on his face. You sense the sun has not come out yet for morning but is on the cusp of starting. Another snap, much closer now.
“Ed!” You turn and whisper to him, shaking slightly.
“Yes, Y/N?” He seems to be sleeping rather deeply, barely coming out of his slumber.
“Ed, I think there’s something coming this way.” You nudge again, trying to remain quiet.
“Before we wake? Let us sleep in today, my dear.” He smirks, pulling you in even closer and you hold your breath a little, taking in your surroundings.
Your weapon is not far, the fire has died to ash and embers making it almost impossible to see but your horse is not right near for a handy escape, more than a few feet off. You hope the passerby will move on as it has most nights with you both, although you have mainly run into wild animals during the nighttime more so than patrols going this far off the path.
Another snap, almost on top of your spot and a low light coming from your left. You jab Edmund but he has a finger to his mouth in a whisper symbol, apparently finally awake and already reaching for the sword he has next to him.
A few moments later you both see the lantern and almost at the same time you jump up and draw your weapons, getting a lantern shoved near your faces.
“Ed?” A voice cuts through before your vision clears but a second later the lantern is dropped closer to waist level as Ed gets pulled away in a grasp.
You meet eyes after a second, “Peter?” Your breath catches, unsure of what this means.
He lets Edmund go after another few moments, and turns towards you- Edmund also showing some concern on his face.
Peter stands directly in front of you, his eyes wandering trying to get a sense of what has happened since he has seen you last. It seems so long ago now but it can’t have been, he looks almost the same if not just tired. His face with his expression shows genuine relief and relaxation, small signs of worry still on his face as he searches.
“It is very good to see you, Princess.” He seems at a loss for how to greet you and decides to settle with a small smile and then a frown, “I owe you my sincerest apology.” He knelt in front of you and lowered his head.
It took you a second to let everything sink in but once it did you knelt in front of him, wrapping your arms around his neck. “It’s nice to see you too, High King.” He seems to release a held breath and after another moment he wraps his arms around you as well, you both not moving for a few moments.
“I’m so sorry-”
“High King, you thought I betrayed you.” You cut him off, “I am glad you are safe.” You pull back after another second, “How are Lucy and Susan?”
He shakes his head, trying to clear the subject away, “They are fine, what are you two doing?”
“We ran from an inn-” Edmund started.
“There were soldiers breaking down doors-” Taking over for Ed, “If your brother hadn’t found me in time I doubt I would still be here.” You nodded to Ed with a soft smile, silenting telling him to follow along.
“I am glad you both are alright, but why didn’t you come back?” Peter asked, facing both of you. You heard a soft gallop a little further off, taking Peter’s lantern you turned it off and you three huddled closer to where you had just been sleeping.
“Nowhere is safe. Soldiers and spies are everywhere.” You whispered after you felt safe enough to.
“I suppose that is true even if I don’t like it.” Peter frowned and looked over to Ed, “Someone helped the King and Prince escape.”
Edmund sighed, looking down. “Look, as much as it is nice to have you here Peter we should move on. Two is already a lot to keep hidden.”
There was a pause, “You should go back, Ed.” Peter spoke up.
“You should,” You added, “You guys have to rule-”
“I won’t leave you alone, Y/N.” Ed said sternly.
“I will stay.” Peter spoke. He held up a finger to shush both of our complaints. “You can easily tell Lucy or Susan I am on a ride or in my quarters and they will believe it. They are already starting to put together that both of you went missing- go back and make a noise. Make it known you are not traveling with the Princess and it will be easier for the traveling party. I can stay for at least a little while until we get a small camp set up close to where you would like to strike.” Daylight was breaking through now, you could see both of their faces. SIlence lingered in the air.
“Ed,” You softly started.
“I don’t wish to go.” He looked your face over, “But if it makes it easier then I can.” He faced back to Peter, “Where shall I meet you both and how long will I go?”
Peter listed a few possible encampment areas along the border of Calormen that might work. “We won’t know until we get there which is the least guarded and with foot traffic to a minimum.”
“We could send a message somehow, or leave something to let them know it wasn’t a correct location.” You offered. “We could go East to West on the locations mentioned that way you don’t go somewhere we weren’t.”
Peter smiled over to you. “That could work.”
“What about a marking on a tree.” You worked out a quick signal that you all agreed on before Peter went a little further off to get dressed as inconspicuous as possibly.
Ed stood directly in front of you, looking over your face. “I promise I will be back, stay alive until then?”
“To the best of my ability.” You nodded and smiled towards him.
“Good.” He opened his arms for a hug and you hugged him. He leaned his head over yours and tightly held his arms around you, “I couldn’t bear to lose you.” He kissed the top of your head.
“You know I feel the same, Ed. Please be careful.”
You both heard the walking of Peter making his way back and you finished your hug, standing and staring at each other.
“We’ll see you soon.” You smiled towards him, looking over at Peter.
“Please take this stuff back with you Ed, if we get found with this our ruse will be over.”
Edmund nodded, slowly climbing onto his horse and looking back. “You better keep her safe, brother.”
Peter nodded towards him and he led a slow trout away, trying not to give away the location of where he was leaving.
“Looks like it’s us now, Princess.” He smirked, helping gather the items in your makeshift camp from the earlier evening.
“It looks to be that way, High King.” You nervously started off towards the first potential camp.
