The gunman was 18 years old and you have to be 21 or older to carry in Texas. This isn't a gun laws problem it's a social inequality problem. We have to fix the issues that come before someone wanting to commit these acts.

I mean... I never said it negated the need to improve social inequality. In fact, I'm pretty in favour of robust social justice measures all across the board. But social inequality is not a primary factor in all mass shootings, whereas gun access is. Nobody is saying, "don't improve society beyond gun control." But I think focusing on guns is pretty reasonable here?

A persons confidence in causing said harm and going about of the crime

There's a reason we always hear about mass shootings, but you never hear about mass stabbings... because it takes time and physical effort to stab one person, let alone a bunch of people, and you have to do it from close range.

Take away the tool designed for massacres and you greatly reduce the number of massacres.

Why assault rifles anyway? Like - are Americans so piss poor at shooting a target that they need to spray bullets randomly in the hope of getting lucky?

Do they need assault rifles for hunting?

Do they need assault rifles for “protection”?

Seems like maybe what they need is a fking shooting lesson or two.

Oh…and zero fking assault rifles and similar arms. And laws to make it harder to get a firearm. And an increase in age limit for buying a firearm. And full due diligence by an independent department to check for known mental illness or criminal history. And do Americans read the second amendment in full and understand what it really means, or do they read it like the bible - removing everything they don’t like to bend the context to their will.

Australia had one gun related massacre. We banned guns except under very tight provisions with lengthy checks. We had an amnesty on unregistered guns. We had a buy back scheme. Guns were taken off the streets. Our government took back control because one massacre was enough. How many will it take for the US to sort their shit out?! How many more people have to die at the hands of a fucking mental dickhead who has free and easy access to guns designed for warfare!!?
