May,2017
This is last month for our micromouse. What is interesting, we did very well . Not only the speech but also the final combat . Finally we got the 2nd place. Our teamates are very good .Everyone have already tried their best. Although we didn’t get the NO.1 but we really experienced a lot. This is last blog for Indigo : ) Goodbye
April-May
In April due to the Easter break we did not work a lot in laboratory. However, in the remaining days of April and May the last adjustments were done to the micromouse. We worked on the ethics presentation, finished the documentation. We also worked on getting the shell into the place because we made a few errors on the measurements and the sensors would be covered, so we had to drill on the shell. Finally, I painted the shell and the final tests were done before the assessments.
May,2017
Preparing the presentation is the main part of the trip. This time we all went to Gregynog. There is far way from Swansea. The first day we need to clear all problems about the micromouse such as the shell construction. Also, we had to rehearse the presentation. Next day, we had 4 task test to complete in the morning. Then, there had a combat competition with 10 groups in the afternoon. The last day we enjoy the final breakfast before leaving.

finally there , we as a team were finalizing all the bits we have with the micro mouse, testing of the programming and the power point presentation.
once most of the shell was printed we finally were able to cover most of the micro mouse with it and hand in all the things we needed for the project week inspection .
Ethics
The English dictionary defines ethics as the study of what is morally right and what is not , everyone might have their own definition of what ethics should be , however engineers have a moral responsibility to use the knowledge and work experience to the fullest , so as to get the best results .
Self driving cars , there are many companies that are working on self driving cars for example ,Google ,Tesla and Nissan , the question to ask is who takes responsibility when things go wrong ? , how can we teach computers the meaning of ethics when we font fully understand it our self ?
All of these companies are calming that is it better to use self driving cars and that self driving cars could save lives due to the fact that they are programmed to follow all the laws of the road, as well as no be distracted by phones and other things.
However , if transport and work become automated , what does that mean for humans ?
With all these questions asked , what does that mean for engineers , the engineering council has presented a statement of ethics that every engineer should follow:
1- Accuracy and Rigour.
Engineers have the responsibility to make sure their information is up to date , that this knowledge could help with the development of the project, with regards to the self driving car they need to be fully tested so as to avoid any injures .
2- honesty and integrity
When working with these type of projects the engineers need to be honest with them self and others , and be professional , fair and not take any bribery or improper acts. their is a resent event that happened with regards to this google is actually sowing Uber and calming that they stole their technology .
3- respect for life low and the public good
Engineers need to respect the public interest and obey the lows , so with self driving cars they need to be programmed to not pas a red light for example in that way they would be safe and they would again avoid any injuries .
4- Respectable leadership ,listening and informing . promotion of public awareness and understanding of the self driving cars and reassuring the public that the cars are vary safe .
April/May
With project week coming up we only had some simple things to work on , for example the presentation and knowing which team members was speaking about what , in addition to that there was also making sure that all the modes were up to the slandered we wanted . I had some extra soldering to do with the white line sensors and so on bu tall in all we really had most of the work on track . I also worked on the ethics which was added in to the presentation at the end which we talked about self driving cars.
Getting ready for the trip
finally project week is close and we printed the bumpers as well as some of the shell and our micro mouse is fully functional and ready to challenge any other micro mouse that comes our way
April,2017
This month has just a week doing the work of micromouse, but we do it done a lot of things. For example, the designed shell is ready for painting and the main part of micromouse is almost completed. I am looking forward to the competition with other groups. The competition date is after the Easter vacation that will be held on 9,May. We hope our robot, micromouse will get the best result in the competition. Before the competition, we will continue to make our micromouse perfectly.
IR-Sensor Report
April Blog
While April has been cut short because of the Easter break, now that the hardware is complete the code has finally been put in. There are now three basic modes working: obstacle avoidance, fighting and white line following. The white line following and obstacle avoidance now works great with very few errors, however there are still a few teething problems implementing the fighting code.
Another major issue we are facing is with the special feature, while our sound chip does appear to be working, it currently unable to correctly select a track. At this point it would appear to be an issue with the chip or the speed at which we are sending the code. Hopefully we will have it fully working soon though.
Easter break
During the Easter break Ben was working on completing the code and the rest of us where working on the reports as well as the ethics/ presentation.
March blog
As we finally were able to obtain the correct design for the PCB, we were able to print and drill the holes for the components, thus giving as the ability to solder the components with ease.
Making sure that the right components were soldered I the correct direction with the correct value.
Once that was complete the testing was well under way finally getting the PCB to work correctly after that's the testing and building the white line sensors was done noting that we needed to use four sensors two in the front and two in the back we built it in a way to connect the sensors under the micro mouse near the motors.
February Blog
As the second semester started we had to rebuild the PCB as we found so many problems with the first PCB, so it was a good way to know our mistakes and fix them.
It took some time to get everything done but we managed to get it done with time to spare.
Having said that, we still had so issues with the PCB but we were able to fix them.
March
On this month we worked in building the infrared circuit on the PCB and soldering all the components on it. At the beginning we had some difficulty on having the sensors on the right position but it was sorted. After, we built the whine line sensors again and after a few measurements, we glued it on the lower surface of the micromouse. It was quite challenging because we tried to place the sensors in a few different positions and only at the end of the month sorted the best place. However, we might need to change the position again. I am currently working on writing the report on the white line sensors and working with the group on the Ethics presentation.
Febuary Blog
No work has been done over January due to exam work, however, I have made a lot of progress since the break building and programming the robot. The robot is now able to avoid any obstacle it runs into with the bumpers, and will also do a 180° turn when hit from the back. The IR sensors are now complete so I shall be adding the infrared functions to the code next month. I have also built the special feature using a 4D SOMO II module and a 8ohme speaker on a breadboard, and have written the functions that will allow the robot to communicate with the module using the SCI in the microcontroller. Next month I shall be programing the micro mouse to react to the IR and white line sensors as well as building the special freature.
March
This month is a quite busy month, we did a lot of working, as you see the shell almost done . It looks really nice. I put a lots effort on it. what is more, we did the baffle as well .
February
This month we have already started the shells’ work and it looked like a Doraemon . And tried to make it look as same as picture. I believed we can do this work.
