Can't Always Fix Broken || Cillian and Charlotte
It would be so easy to close that gap, push up that final inching distance and seal lips over his. But no, she couldnāt. She wouldnāt. This had to be his choice, they had to start over and he had to come to her. Though if she were to be perfectly honest, it didnāt seem as if that was going to be a difficult task. Especially with the bloody bastard moving closer still. Bodies undoubtedly touching now, pressing and she knew her breath hitched and the fingers on his arm tightened again.Ā
She gave that small glance upward breathing a bit thready and mouth suddenly dry as her eyes lingered on those scruffed lips. How many times had she kissed those lips? Shaved that face in an intimate moment between them? How many words of love were exchanged? She thought of how many more she had reserved over the time she slept and if sheād ever get to tell him. There was a heavy swallow, and her free hand came up, splaying low on his abdomen and sliding up his chest, feeling that steady thrumming beneath finger tips.Ā
"Iā¦I should really go back inside," words whispered, a foot even stepped back but she didnāt move. not really. She couldnāt, she was hypnotized by that piercing blue stare that had always reeled her in. "Work to do and allā" Still no movement, just more pointless words and a small quirk in her lips before her tongue swept over to wet them. "Try to keep out of trouble, might not be around next time you get into a fight."
Cillian moved closer still almost as if an invisible force was drawing him in. He didn't understand it, but there was something about her that he just couldn't shake. And if he was being honest with himself, he didn't really want to. The closer she got the harder it was to breath and he hadn't felt like that around anyone before. Sure, he had met plenty woman, flirted his way into getting what he wanted on occasion. But this? This was different. So much different.Ā
Fingers came up to brush a lock of dark hair behind her shoulder, eyes still never leaving hers as he let his fingers linger at her shoulder. He could move away. Maybe he should. Let her get back to her job and he return to the docks where he always felt he belonged. It would be easy just to go back as if nothing had ever happened. But at this point he didn't think he could.Ā
Those eyes bore into him almost as if she was testing him. There was something there. That much he could tell and part of him wondered if she could feel it to. Ā She said she had to go and yet like him, wasn't moving. Instead he took another step forward, hand moving up towards her cheek as he leaned closer. "That would be a shame," he whispered, lips inches from hers. "I don't think I'd mind having you around more often." he added, before his lips captured hers.Ā
