LEMON CAKE
Developer / Publisher: Cozy Bee Games / Cozy Bee Games

Lemon Cake is an adorable twist on the typical bakery game, allowing you to make repairs to a (very sweetly) haunted bakery with its own garden farm attached.
The game is sweet and relaxing, and the perfect game to play to calm down after a busy day. There are plenty of fun recipes to earn and try, and each unlockable upgrade brings both more help and more challenge in a way that keeps the game interesting even after several hours of play. The ghostly former bakery owner is a delightful guide on this journey, providing helpful advice and fun commentary at the end of each day.
It took about ~20 hours to unlock all of the skill trees and upgrades. After unlocking everything, the game can become a grind, but it's still a fun way to kill an hour or two. I don't believe the developer is planning on updating it further, but it's still well worth the price point. Lemon Cake is a lovely and wholesome way to spend an evening winding down. Would recommend to anyone who likes casual baking games or other fun, low-stakes challenges.

This game is absurdly addictive and has a surprising amount of heart for something that I was expecting to be a new take on Papa's Pizzeria or similar games. There are several cute, weird storylines happening in the background that make starting each day refreshing and interesting. There are enough different customers with different orders to keep you on your toes, and puzzling out just what in the world some of them mean is a trick all of its own.
This game has its own kind of buffyspeak that you WILL find your self compulsively quoting in your waking hours and in your dreams. (Pep no chizzy!!!) I work in food service and this is probably the game closest to the real experience, and somehow it still manages to be a great way to destress after a long day at my actual food service management job.
The game is constantly being updated with new events, items, and story-heavy chapters. Each time a chapter releases, new characters, story lines, toppings, and mechanics are introduced. Chapter Four brought in the garden, which adds another layer of strategy to the game.
GPGP can be a hell of a grind in the beginning, and there's not much reason to play once you finish a chapter or an event, but it's updated frequently enough that this doesn't really matter.
let's play fossil corner [no commentary]
