Izuku had expected this — to not be remembered, that is. But it still hurt, somewhat, to look at Shouto’s face and not see a single spark of recognition in those frantic, frightened eyes. Still, Izuku did his best to keep his smile inviting and friendly, intact, as he tipped his chin in a nod.

“That’s what I was told! Your first name is Shouto, right? It’s a really pretty name!” The teen’s tone was amiable, trying to incite some sense of safety and comfort within the child standing in front of him. He didn’t dare touching Shouto, however, afraid of the repercussions of his own actions. Instead, Izuku just reached out with a hand for a handshake, “It’s nice to meet you, Todoroki-kun—I will be taking care of you today, alright?”

“O-oh...” The small child stared straight ahead, gears turning as he studied the features of the older male. Could he.... trust him? He seemed nice enough... “Thank you...”

Tentatively, he reached up a hand to accept Midoriya’s. Upon making contact with the coarse skin of the teen’s palm, Todoroki flinched lightly as he pulled his hand back for a moment, contemplating, gears turning, chest rising and falling gently for a few moments as heterochromatic eyes blinked at a hand as firm as his fathers. His gaze flickered up to meet with the Izuku’s for a moment before his fingers extended once more. He grasped the newcomer’s hand to shake it softly before letting his hand drop back to his side.

“Okay...” He shifted his weight, still feeling apprehensive. “It’s nice to meet you too, mister.”

“A-ah, I mean, Mister Midoriya.”
