Actual alone time?? ((C/S for Sweetly-cider))
Chip was so stinking excited! He was finally gonna get some time with Applin! He bounced happily in place as he made dinner for himself and his boyfriend. The small cup just had to wait for the bar to close.
(( @sweetly-cider ))
It wasn't long before he could hear the front door open and close. Applin let out a tired sigh as he dropped Chip's spare key into the little cup by the door, then paused as a breath of sweetly scented air brushed across his nose. Sticking it into the air, the mug began to follow the smell, ending up behind Chip in the kitchen.
"Gosh," he said, peering at the stove. "I'd fuss at you for staying up this late, but that just smells too darn good to be mad about it."

“Man, you two are pretty close for brothers,” Applin couldn’t help but comment as he watched the older of the two walk out of the bar. What would he do if his brother tried something like that? Well, he’d probably end up with a black eye, because Ale would surely have been drunk.
“Ah… anyways. You’re welcome to hang around here until I’m through,” he said after a moment, shaking himself from his thoughts. “Can I get ya anything else to drink while you’re just sitting around? I can get you the house special, on the house if you’d like.”

“Oh? Hey, thanks.” When his new friend had left him outside, Applin simply found himself a decent place in the grass to sit, resting an arm across his knee as he waited. This neighborhood was unfamiliar territory, so he couldn’t help but admit this was pretty interesting for him, too. However, the food was a decent distraction from the rapidly cooling evening air.
“I guess you’ve been hanging around my bar and didn’t have time for supper, either,” he said after a moment, accepting what was being offered. “I guess I’m better with snack foods and things I can fry.”
Teacup smiled as he layed the tray down and sat by applin.” yeah as much as I love to cook I believe we should eat something light” he soon began to pour a cup of lemonade and offered it to applin. “try some of the lemonade, I made it my self” after he poured himself a glass he took a sip and immediately tasted a sweet and slightly minty flavor.
Applin couldn't keep from letting out a hum of surprise as he sipped at the cool yellow drink.
"Wow! You said you made this? This is delicious!" Being the bartender he was, he took another sip, carefully smacking his lips as he attempted to figure out what the ingredients were.
"There's definitely not too much sugar, but there's also something else to cut the tartness, isn't there? Is that... mint, maybe?"
Getting characters to meet and interact for the first time can be tough to play out.
Lots of people find the first meetings between strangers to be difficult to plan, or boring to play.
Reblog this if you don’t mind skipping the intro RP and instead jump-starting interactions by plotting out what relationship your characters might have, be they friends, enemies, lovers, antagonists, etc.

Lottie had finally come to her senses and quit her job at the Devil’s casino. It just became too much for her and she had to quit. And now she was looking for a new job.
She had searched around for a while, not finding anything promising, until a certain bar caught her eye. So she grabbed a copy of her resume and made her way to the bar, going up to the person at the counter when she arrived.
“You look like you’re in charge. Any chance ya got a job opening?”
“I spent three years employed by the Devil himself. If workin’ at that casino has taught me anythin’, it’s patience. Especially when dealin’ with Dice Head. I’m sure the boss here is nothin I can’t handle.”
At least she hoped she could handle it. She had enough practice dealing with King Dice and the various kinds of people that would come into the casino.
"Well, he's no better than most of those patrons, but if you say you're alright, then I think you'll be alright."
Again, he looked the girl over for a moment, then tapped his knuckle against the bottom rim of his mug.
"Well... Let's see... Since you have experience, you won't need much training... Can you come back tomorrow night?"
Summer pokes into the bar, a curious smile on her face. She had heard about this place from several of her clients, and wanted to see what all the hubub was about. "Hello? Anyone in?" she asks, approaching the bar.
Applin looked up with a grin at first when he heard the bell ring. However, the sight of an unfamiliar face made him look… surprisingly nervous.
“Oh, ah… H-Hey, there. Haven’t seen you around before,” he said with a forced grin. Could this be someone here to collect…? “Come on, take a seat. What can I get for ya?”
Summer crawls up onto a stool. “Hmm, what do ya recommend that’s non-alcoholic?” she asks, resting her arms on the counter.
“Non-alcoholic? Don’t get requests for that very often,” he said with a warm, good-natured laugh. It seemed like he was still safe with this stranger, and his body language quickly showed it as Applin relaxed once more. “I can whip up a virgin version of my house special, or I can make something a little more traditional. What do you have a taste for?”
Summer tapped her cheek thoughtfully. “Hmm, what is the house special exactly?” she asks, looking up at the tall, friendly barkeep. Kinda glad to hear him relax a bit.
He kept his grin as he leaned onto the bar.
"Just a special cider of my own personal recipe," Applin said with the slightest hint of a boast. "Been perfecting it since I was a teenager. Wanna give it a shot? I've got a virgin version back here just for special guests like yourself."

“Late nights are all I know how to work. That’s the only shift I could ever get workin’ for the devil. Late afternoons to 3 in the mornin’ is what I’m used to, but I can be flexible with it.”
Lottie was excited! He was fully considering hiring her, and from the looks of it, she was going to get the job!
He weighed the options in his mind, and they looked quite favorable – until one particular detail made him grimace. The one thing that had made it next to impossible to hire workers.
“Ah… How… patient are you willing to be with superiors,” Applin asked carefully, trying not to grimace.
“Don’t call me Charlotte and we shouldn’t have any problems. I do as I’m told.” Sure she had a mouth, but she know how to control it. She had to when working for the Devil.
….And being raised by her uncle.
"Unfortunately, it's not me you've got to worry about," he said, slumping against the bar counter behind him. "I may be the guy you're working with most, but both of our boss is my older brother, and... ah, he's a tough character 'ta swallow most of the time. Especially to girls."
Applin sighed, then picked himself up from the bar.
"Though, as long as you can be patient and learn to just let things slide without confrontation, you'll be just fine. Let's just say that you're not the first person I've tried to get behind the counter here, and I'm definitely not the reason they leave quickly."

Things had been jumping all day, but, finally, a lull in the activity gave Applin a chance to lean back against the counter.
“Man, you look like you’re having fun,” his friend commented from the counter, snickering before taking a sip from her drink.
“Yeah, yeah, very funny, Gracie,” he said with a roll of his eyes. “I’m just ready for this day to end. Only good part about Ale coming back into town is getting to go home early.”
“What? You don’t like the mess, or the crazy crowds that pile in,” Gracie teased. However, before she could continue, the little bell over the door jingled, making the bartender jump to his feet with the same painted, easy grin.
“Hey! Welcome!”

DQ pokes his head in and already looks worried. He jumps a little when Applin talks to him. “H-Hello!” He stutters, smiling shyly as he walks in. He glances around nervously, trying to quell his fear. “Um… is Teaffany anywhere around? I… I seemed to have lost her.” He sighs, wringing his hands nervously. He looks at Applin and Gracie, trying to calm down.
“Teaffany?” Applin frowned, then looked around the room. “No, I don’t think I’ve seen her in here yet today.”
“What’s up? You look like someone’s after you or something,” Gracie teased, spinning around in her chair. “Don’t look so scared!”

For a mild-weathered afternoon, the bar was suprisingly empty, with only one or two customers sitting throughout the room. However, it didn’t keep Applin from seeing the friendly, familiar head full of whipped-cream walk into the room.
“Hey, Chip!” Grinning, the cider mug set down whatever glass he’d been cleaning, then waved to greet his buddy. “What brings ya here so early?”
@chip-frappe
Chip sighed dramatically as he pulled himself onto one of the bar stools, “Ya know…. Ive been thinking about something Appy.” He leaned over and put his chin in his hands. “How do you know when you like someone…??”
The question made Applin freeze, though he quickly tried to play it off as he reached for the glass once more, habitually running the cloth across its surface as if nothing were wrong.
“When you… like someone?” He mulled over the thought before looking back towards the little Frappe. “Well, I guess it depends on the person. There’s a point where… you think you like someone, then you probably try to convince yourself you don’t, then you discover you really like them, no matter how much you try to push it away. I mean, hypothetically.” The addition was made quickly, hoping to cover his slip.
Chip cave Appy a strange look, “yea.. exactly…” He trailed off as his eyes fell against bar counter, “it just made him frown, “you know…. Maybe I should ask her again….?”
“Oh… Ah, right, right…”
Applin couldn’t keep his shoulders from sagging a brief moment, though he was fast to shake himself out of it. He was used to this by now.
“You know, if she’s said no this many times already, maybe it’s time to let youself look other places,” he said carefully, shooting Chip a sideways glance. “There’s… lots of nice girls that come sing here.” Appy had to force himself not to grimace as he made the suggestion. “I could… try to introduce you to some next time they come perform. I heard Quartin’s going to be in town soon, too. Maybe he could give you some pointers.”
"that’s not what I meant!” He flushed as he just continued to look down, “ I meant ask for advice…. It not like she’s gonna give me another shot…”
"O-oh! Ah... R-right, right..."
Applin flared a bright red, then acted as if he were going to wipe a spot on the counter.
"I... Bet she would. She's still your friend. I'm sure she didn't want to hurt you."

The drink was sweet, but not overly so. The alcohol taste was definitely there, but didn’t overpower the other flavors of the drink. It was balanced and of a generous portion.
“Whaddaya think? It’s one of the first drinks I learned how to mix.”
Applin let the drink sit in his mouth for a moment, then he quickly took another sip.
“This is… really good,” he finally said after a moment’s pause, taking yet another drink. “Gosh, you really do know what you’re doing back there! This is one of the ones I still haven’t gotten my old man to teach me, but you’ve got it spot on! Great job, kid!”
With a grin, Applin quickly finished off the drink, then slammed the glass onto the table.
“Ok! Now, for my turn. Hold on a sec – I’m about to show you what I do best.”
“Glad ya liked it. Told ya I know my way ‘round a bar. But I ain’t no kid. It ain’t polite to ask a lady her age, so I’ll just tell ya. I’m 27. Far from bein’ a kid.
Lottie had a huge grin on her face. Not a smug one, but a grin. She was genuinely happy he liked the drink. It was one of her favorite ones to make.
"I’ll get outta your way, then.”
She moved herself out from behind the bar and returned to the seat she took when she first arrived. She wasn’t a big drinker herself, but she did on occasion. One drink couldn’t hurt.
That just made Applin blink in surprise.
"Huh... You're as old as Ale, then. Didn't see that one coming," he said with a laugh, then began to clean up after their little demonstration. "Y'know, I think we might be able to find a place for ya. Think you could work late nights?"
In the back of his head, Appy couldn't help being a little relieved. Finally, a chance to actually do things outside of work. He knew he shouldn't be hiring new workers when he really couldn't afford it, but the idea of time off was too enticing.
