"Hi Love, Good morning" His deep sweet voice is what I wake up to every morning. I smell his manly scent. How can he smell this good?
"Good Morning, James," I said.
"Mukhang masarap 'yan ah" Inamoy niya yung niluluto kong (*name of a fancy breakfast*) "Ang bango din, katulad mo" He plant a soft kiss on my cheek. I giggled.
"Hindi ka pa ba late?" Tanong niya. Sunday ngayon, walang pasok. What is he talking about?
"Late saan? Sunday ngayon ah?" Sabi ko.
"Late ka na Ella" sabi niya.
"Wala akong pasok ngayon James, It's sunday"
"Late ka na Ella, gumising ka na" sabi niya ulit at inalog-alog ako.
"I'm wide awake, ba't mo ako ginigising?"
"Late ka na nga Ella, gising na"
"James, you're being weird again. Stop it"
"Ella you're late!!!"
Nagulat ako dahil sa sumigaw. Lumingon-lingon ako, I'm in my room again.

It's 7:18 a.m. and my class starts at 8:00 a.m.
I'm late.
So, So, Late!
"Shoot, I'm late!"
I'm late. I'm late. I'm late. I'm late. I'm late.
That's because of that stupid dream. He always gets me in trouble. Dere-deretso na akong lumabas ng bahay.
"Ella! Mag-agahan ka muna!" Dinig kong sigaw ni Manang mula sa kusina.
"Hindi na po Manang, late na ako!"
"Ella! Malalagot ka sa Mommy mo!" Mom doesn't want me to skip meals but what can I do? I'll be late for my class.
"Bye!"

Here is a quick animation tester that I did, this is infact my first animation ever so it may not be the best! I created this in photoshop using a sketch I drew by hand. I wanted to go for something quite simple for this first trial, I like how the blinking is soft and gradual however letâs be honest, the hair movement looks like a pile of â Either way, for a first try I donât think itâs too bad! I will try to refine this im my next experiment.
Cool!
Protest
Protest has been a continued theme throughout the history of art and design. The 1950âs in America was a huge period for rebellion and protest towards the cultural and artistic norms. A good example of this is the underground music of that period, which was modern jazz which had originally emerged from the black culture. Over time Jazz had developed a sense of freedom, departing from the initial tune, which allowed musicians to develop and explore their musical possibilities within the guidelines of the initial framework.
If there was a visual depiction of what Jazz is all about, Jackson Pollockâs work would definitely be the first representation. During the 1950âČs Pollock had developed a brand new style of painting which involved a freeform nature, associated with modern jazz. The technique he used was simple, he merely dripped paint from his brush onto a flat horizontal canvas on the ground. His works became very known as they broke any conventional ideas about art of that age. This brings in a sense of rebellion towards the norms of the art world in that particular period. Pollock said that his paintings do not carry mistakes, they are rather about the pure expression.
Protest has also been heavily incorporated into advertising. An effective way to raise awareness of a social or political issue is to subvert to language of advertising as it far more reaching to a wider audience than a painting is, for example. This shocking poster was issued by the environmental campaigning group Greenpeace in 1984, as a protest against fur trading. It generated a lot of controversy by the witty yet effective caption as well as using a female in the campaign, inserting a trace of sexism.
The last and much necessary example of protest in art is the King of Controversy, Banksy. Here is one of his powerful social comments depicted with the use of a stencil against the wall of a Poundland shop. In the image you can find a young boy working in an Indian sweatshop. The Englandâs flag is incorporated as part of the piece in the form of bunting, to show the involvement of our country in the poorly paid slave labour in less fortunate Asian countries. Cleverly placing this on the wall of a Poundland shop adds an eye opening sense of controversy to the message Banksy is putting across. In future projects, I plan to incorporate this sense of rebellion to my work to inject more complex issues which I can visually resolve.

People and Places - âWe force our beliefs upon othersâ
Here is the last illustration I will be producing for our story board, this one refers to the line âWe force our beliefs upon othersâ. In this illustration I depict a vulnerable bare woman pressing her ears, in attempt to block out persuasive arguments and opinions being forced upon her. To add a quirky spin to this piece, I decided to leave half of her scalp missing, allowing the brain to be exposed; conveying how easy it is for people to get into someoneâs head and influence their thought process, which most of us blindly allow without question. For this image I used pro markers and pen, these two mediums have grown very fond of me for this project, I have been able to fully explore and experiment working with them in different ways. I have then scanned the image into Photoshop and worked into it further to enhance and add more colours. I decided to echo the colour schemes of our inspiration building Suki10c which has been a recurring influence for my colour choices in my work. I think this illustration is quite successful due to the depiction of physical and at the same time metaphorical impact on the mind.
This is awesome!
Another World - Audience
As a result to exploring various concepts in my project and experimenting with a few media, I am now ready to focus on the audience of this project and who my illustrations will be aimed towards. Seeing as my illustrations and style of work has taken a subtly adverse and peculiar route, I have decided to go forward with this and focus on illustrating imagery that would be found in childrenâs middle grade books. This is the golden age of reading for many children, ages 8-12. Manuscripts suddenly get longer (100-150 pages), stories more complex (sub-plots involving secondary characters are woven through the story) and themes more sophisticated. At this age there are also much more complex concepts within the story line, fiction genres range from contemporary to historical to science fiction/fantasy; nonfiction includes biographies, science, history and multicultural topics; I am however planning to focus on the fantasy and fiction aspect. There are many famous reads in this category which I can draw inspiration from such as JK Rowlingâs Harry Potter, Neil Gaimanâs The Graveyard Book and Coraline. These Books serve as a proof that my slightly twisted illustrations within this project will sit comfortably within this age group of children.
This is one of my Fave Animation Movie
Here are two character variations of the mushroom in my illustrations. I wanted to refine the concept of this character as it has only been briefly introduced within one of my compositions. These two designs are just a trial of my envision without any external influences. Because of this I feel that there is a certain lack of depth and appropriate lights and shadows. However I do like their expressions, they both appear quite delirious and intoxicated; It kind of plays with the connotation of a mushroom being a drug. Iâm quite happy with the colours however due to my recent decision of where Iâm taking the project I feel that the colour palette is no longer fitting due to its brightness. I plan to experiment with taking this character and depicting it in a darker and aged manner.
