Did you know that the Shadow Darner (Aeshna umbrosa) is a species of dragonfly found in much of Canada and the US? Like other dragonflies, they are excellent hunters. They'll eat just about anything they can catch, including (but not limited to) other aerial insects, aquatic insects, small fish, shrimp, and tadpoles.

This is a relatively cold adapted dragonfly, flying later than any other species (with the sole exception of s. vicinum). It can do this by regulating its own body temperature.
