Oliver carefully boarded the bus with MĂŠja in one arm, sitting down next to an older woman. "I-- I hope you'll excuse the baby if she becomes too loud," he softly apologized in advance, watching the sleeping infant.
Rose looked over at the young man and then smiled. âAwww, what a sweet little thing!â Rose smiled looking at the child. âI remember when my kids where that small!â Rose spoke with a smile on her face. âWould you mind?â She asked with a smile.Â
â âPotato fieldsâ?â Oliver repeated, clearly puzzled, but decided itâd be better not to question it anymore than he already was. Everybody had different ideas and beliefs, after all.
âAhâ Are you visiting family up in St. Olaf?â He asked, trying to change the subject. âWeâre going up there to visit some relatives who havenât gotten to meet the baby yet.â
âOh, Iâm just going to clean up my parents grave and see how my cousins are keeping the old family house up.â Rose smiled at him before cooing at the baby. âShe is just the calmest sweetie, you and your wife must be so proud to have this sweetheart here.â She cooed at the child.

Oliver smiled down at the baby in his arms, then looked back up. "Oh-- Sure-!" He nodded, carefully handing the baby to the woman next to him. "This is MĂŠja. My name's Oliver."

Rose smiled and held the baby close to her. âOh! What a beautiful name!â She smiled. âIâm rose!â The older woman said the a smile. Hello there little one.â She said before looking back to him. âYou know when my granddaughter was born I insisted we take her to saint Olaf and put her in the potato fields for health luck and my daughter said no!â She laughed. âOh I guess times have changed.â She smiled.Â

(sweetasarose) "Dorthy, I can't find those earrings I got for Janela." Rose said looking in the fridge.
Dorothy looked her roommate over from the kitchen table. âWhy donât you try looking in that empty space between your ears,â she muttered, taking a sip of her coffee.
âAnd a sex addiction, donât forget the sex addiction,â Dorothy added, putting her mug into the sink and rinsing it out. At that last remark, she slowly looked back towards her roommate and blinked. âDid your aunt also tell you to keep wax objects in the microwave?â She questioned with an unimpressed expression on her face. âOh Rose, why didnât you just keep the earrings in your room? Surely thereâs a perfectly good spot to hide your things.â
âBecause Dorothy! Donât you remember when she went in my room to use my hair spray and took my mace!â the old woman said before sighing and shaking her head. âOh! When she getâs back Iâll have to sneak them off her if she wonât give them back.âÂ
âBut I assume sheâs learned her lesson about taking things from your room,â Dorothy reasoned, sitting back down in front of Rose. âLook, honey, Iâm sure sheâll give the earrings back if you just explain theyâre a gift for someone else.â
âIf I can get them back Iâll make sure to keep them there next time. Oh Dorothy I can be such a nit dummy sometimes!â She said with a sigh and then shook her head. âNo wonder Charlie never let me handle out cheek books.â She sighed.Â

âWell I canât put them in my earâs they wouldnât look right.â She sighed taking out the orange juice to pour herself a glass. âI just never know what that girls likes and when I finally get her something she dose I loss it. Iâm just like uncle Omar, you know he once lost out prize goat missy!âÂ
The old woman slowly looked up at that remark, thinking to herself how someone like Rose was even still alive with her level of stupidity. âRose, isnât it a bit early in the day for one of your St. Olaf stories-?â
âItâs not a long one. We did find her. She had ran to the rival towns horse barn and ate all there hay.â Rose laughed. âWe had to save her from them and we all got away!â She laughed before letting a sigh out and sipping from her cup. âOh, but really I have to find those earrings!â She said seeing her cup down.
âWho was in charge of the rival town, Lavender McDade?â Dorothy shook her head. After finishing her coffe, she stood from the table. âRose, I really donât think those earrings will be in any of the kitchen appliances. Now, just retrace your steps. What were you doing before they got lost?â
Rose paused and then thought for a moment. âWell, I was helping Blanch with this new outfit she had bought that looks just awful on her.â Rose then gasped. âOh no! I let her put on the earrings!â The woman sat down. âOh I hope she wouldnât take them off!â Rose spoke shaking her head.Â
âRose, you gave an egotistical woman fine jewelry,â Dorothy reasoned from the other side of the table. âHoney, look, Iâm sure Blanche will return the earrings if you just tell her theyâre a gift. Who knows? Maybe Blanche will decide she doesnât even like them.â
âOh I gave my daughter earrings to a slut with a shiny object addiction!â Rose spoke before shaking her head and then sighed. âOh, why couldnât I have just kept them in the bread box like my aunt had always told me to do!â She spoke shaking her head and sighing.Â
